Inroduction

Who/what was your character inspired by?: La takes parts from professors, teachers, librarians, and strangers that I have met. She is a combination of qualities I admire in others but with many of my flaws.

Name: La, but she could respond to anything. La feels no extreme connection to her name, no magical emotional tie that makes it utterly hers. She sees it as the sound that identifies her, and believes that any other set of sounds could serve as her name just as efficiently. She would say that there are thousands of languages in the world and most have different words to identify the same object, why should only one set of sounds define her? Her pictograph is much more vital to her identity, but is unpronounceable.

Name Origin: The first syllable she spoke that was more than just a vowel. Kept it because it stuck and she was fascinated by her own ability to communicate verbally. In the end she learned to read before she learned to speak.

Meaning of Name: See "Name." La doesn't like the idea of forcing a name to mean something and would refer people to look at every definition of La in every language and every word in every language that contains that sequence of letters. She would suggest that a person pick their favorite.

Nickname: None, really. La thinks of nicknames as implying a friendly element to them and her name is about as short as it can be.

Title(s): None in any official capacity. But professionally La could be considered a teacher, archeaologist, reasearcher, librarian, and many other things. She'd respond to any of those.

Sex: Female.

Blood type: I have no clue which antigens deer blood uses but it's probably not A-B-O like humans. I know dogs, for instance, use a different blood type system from humans. So I'm gonna go ahead and say that La's blood type is deer.

Species: Endless Forest Deer.

Race/Breed: Endless Forest Deer.

Sexual Orientation: None. Not even asexual. Just none.

Current Relationship Status: Has many friends, students, and one nemesis of sorts.

Birth date: August 24, 2010

Birth place: Around some trees. Being so small La doesn't remember it much, and once she got her legs she was quick to leave the spot and begin adventuring. She doesn't remember what she saw when she first opened her eyes and it doesn't bother her very much.

Current residence: La primarily hangs around The Ruins. She appreciates a certain amount of wind buffer that stone walls provide. The Ruins were one of the first places that La found as a fawn and they were immediate a source of great interest and inspiration. She also found her frequent companion, The Book, in the pit in The Ruins. La regularly fills the pit with soft plants and other bedding supplies in order to keep it comfy, and pulls them out when they get too old. She can also regularly be found sleeping in the mushroom circle nearest the ruins, under the slab in the playground that forms a roof, and sometimes at the bank of the pond nearest the dragonflies.

Hobbies: Learning, teaching. If there is a question, her hobby is answering it.

Talents/Skills/Powers: La has nothing to separate her from other deer except her hard work, diligence, and the ability to draw careful conclusions through analysis of facts. She can read and speak numerous languages fluently, but never gets to practice them. She is good at turning misfortune and failure into opportunities to learn. I would also consider it a power that she does not experience the emotion of boredom--the closest thing she feels is sleepiness and she often ends up using an open book as a pillow.

The Past to Now

Parents: None. La was born of The Forest. She believes the that first wave of deer were created in the forest to be in awe of it, but that she in the second wave was created to understand it. Despite having no mother nor father, La does not feel any emptiness inside.

Birth: She came to be on August 24th, 2010 as a fawn able to walk.

Fawnhood/Growing Up: La sought adult attention and conversation but rarely found it. At the time I had terrible internet access and was in the 3.41 beta, and as a result La was often alone in the dark with little to do but read.

Adulthood: That's what all these questions are about. Keep reading.

Role Model(s): Flyleaf is the deer that La considers to be the best role model. She doesn't see him as often as she would like, but he is one of her favorite people. She met him as a fawn and has known him always to seek fun and spread joy.

Enemy(ies): None, except perhaps The Old Oak. I hesitantly think of Oduvanchik (played by Fairyclock) as La's nemesis, but that is in more of an intellectual way, and they are warring not over land or principle but for the wellfare and happiness of a fawn.

Friend(s)/Acquaintance(s): Too many to list. La considers anyone who has good conversation with her to be a friend.

How they met their Enemy(ies): La saw Oduvanchik emerge from The Old Oak, which La does not trust in the slightest, and followed him until he ran into some other deer. She warned them that he was not to be trusted and cautiously interacted with him.

How they met their Friend(s): La meets most people by sitting next to them and starting a conversation. She's unafraid of most.

The Body

Height: About four feet at the shoulder, so able to look a human in the eyes comfortably.

Weight: I'm not so familiar with deer weight but I would expect that La is at least 200lbs. She's not heavy but she's also not slim and spry due to an abundance of food.

Posture: Decent when standing, hunched when sitting. La holds her head high when out and about, but once she is comfortable she sits and stares at her book.

Build: Deer.

Fur Color(s): Black and white. There's a very dark brown undercoat to her black fur, only visible in light. For most purposes she is black and white only.

Markings: Handprints appeared over her eyes, on her shoulders, and on her hips when she matured, representing her love of humans and their industrial natures. La often wished she had hands when she was a fawn and that was more directly what made them appear. When she is turned into other animals by magic, the marks change into hoofprints, because she is a deer at heart.

Ears: Yes

Eyes: Yes. Wideset with little depth perception. Not able to see red/orange clearly but has good perception of blues and purples like a normal deer. Good motionsense and good nightvision.

Face: Yes.

Scars?: Probably some on knees from childhood, but otherwise doesn't get injured much.

Does he/she keep themselves groomed?: Yes. La likes to soak in the pond up to her chest and dunk her head under on really hot days. This usually gets the dust off. In general a person running into her will see that she has a fine coating of brown dust from around the ruins and it mades the white fluff on her belly beige and makes the black coat on her back somewhat yellowish in direct light. But really, it's hardly noticeable.

Physical trait(s) most proud of: La doesn't consider appearance something to be proud of, except perhaps state of grooming and fitness. She doesn't give this much thought.

Jewelry: No.

Other accessories: Nope.

Physical Flaws: No good natural defenses to speak of except running away. Lack good stereoscopic vision due to wide-set eyes.

Physical Strengths: Good hearing, good speed, can see well enough at night due to tapeta lucida.

The Movements

Graceful or Clumsy?: In between, average. There is nothing elegant about La but she isn't the type to fall on her face because she isn't watching her step. She may appear rigid at times in her movements, or like she is dragging her feet but it is just a case of her being lost in other things.

Fighting style: None.

Defense style: Sprinting in the other direction.

Voice description: She can speak softly and still be intelligible, and she can make her voice carry far without shouting. La can sound as strict as a librarian scolding someone for a late return or as kindly as a kindergarten teacher helping a student up on the playground after a fall.

Laugh description: Either a subdued chuckle or an enormous giggling cackle. Finds a lot of things funny but only rarely laughs to the point of crying.

Feral call(s)/sound(s): La can moo like all Endless Forest Deer. She has a low cry that carries far and increases in pitch the longer she holds it. She almost never makes this sound however, and dislikes it.

Daily/Nightly routine: Wake up, eat weeds that encroach on graves, graze in a sunny place, read in a place without wind. Her days aren't routine and she often wanders instead of doing something on her list. Her ears are usually up listening for familiar pictographs and she will often trot after one she recognizes at the first chance.

The Soul

Describe intelligence: High aptitude for pattern recognition in every form. High aptitude for languages. High aptitude for mathematics and anything involving numbers. Average aptitude for social interaction. Low aptitude for subjective studies.

Known tongues/languages: Old, middle, and modern English, Norman, modern French, Latin, Ancient Greek.

Goals of life, if any: La wants the opportunity to really put what she has learned of humans to the test.

Secret desires: To uncover the big secrets of The Forest, such as what happened to the humans who lived there, where The Twin Gods came from, and why the Forest is Endless.

How self-confident is the character?: Very, in areas where she is well educated. La has been confident enough to share her findings with others. In cases where violence may occur La has no confidence and her only option is to run off.

How do they see him/herself?: Mostly realistically. La has a decent idea of what she looks like and has a decent understanding of her capabilities and limitations. She's more likely to take on more than she can handle than she is to sit something out because she is doubting herself.

How do they believe s/he is perceived by others? She thinks that her friends have a good view of her but thinks most people probably see her as a nerd. She's okay with that.

What is the character most proud of? Her studies of pictographs, her patience cataloging them. La has a deep love of names and sees them as very intimate things.

What does the character like least about themselves? Not something she dwells on, but probably the fact that she has had immense difficulty solving a few of her mysteries--namely, where our stumps/logs come from.

How do they express themselves?: Verbally rather than with body language for the most part. La would rather articulate and be clear than be wishy washy with body language. That said, she doesn't ignore body language and does still use it to emote regularly. Her long ears and brows to most of her expressing but she also frowns, smiles, and wrinkles her nose like a human. Occasionally she performs a motion similar to a shrug.

Is this character generally dominant or submissive? Neither. La is assertive and polite and doesn't see life as being dominant or submissive. She won't play a dominant role if someone tries to submit to her and she won't submit to someone trying to dominate her.

Patience level (0/10): La has nearly limitless patience with children and nameless deer, but less patience with adults who clearly know what they are doing. She's wont to leave if someone is rude to her.

Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof?: Ruled is a poor word for this. La isn't ruled by either emotion or logic, like most people she is a mix of the two where common sense and empathy guide her interactions with others. She is pragmatic, but she feels things deeply as well.

Describe their discomforts: Loose soil, mud, heavy rain without shelter, the day after heavy rain where there are few places dry enough to lie down comfortably.

Describe their comforts: Reading, cuddling, dry places.

Describe their sense of humor: La's not especially funny. She doesn't crack jokes often but she appreciates a quick wit from others. She likes wordplay but insists it isn't the same as puns.

If granted one wish, what would it be and why? Infinite wishes. If you tell her that's not allowed, she will ask for infinite genies.

Describe their social strengths: La never runs out of things to talk about, and is not afraid to be the one to start a conversation.

Describe their social flaws: Tends to shoot high and often makes the mistake of leading a conversation with something that might confuse the other person.

Describe their biggest mental vulnerability: Like, emotional vulnerability? Hard to say. Perhaps a sense that while she is appreciated for her company, she is rarely appreciated for her work, which she would like to see get more attention.

Optimist or Pessimist: This isn't an either or thing. But more often than not La would call herself a cautious optimist if asked this question. She would rather avoid either of these categories.

Introvert or extrovert: An introvert, but she still likes attention and company.

Greatest Fear: Losing the forest, losing her work. The oblivion of being forgotten.

Other Fears/Insecurities/Phobias: General feeling of not being appreciated on a higher, intellectual level.

Biggest regret: Being away from The Forest for the three and a half years she spent growing up.

Other regrets: Letting Oduvanchik stay in The Forest. She wishes she could have told the demon to get the Hell out (THAT is her sense of humor, there) when she had the chance.

Character's darkest/deepest secret: She believes that there is a human somewhere in The Endless Forest, hiding from all the deer. She wants to find him, in a sort of "let's go look for bigfoot" sort of way.

Dislikes: Willful ignorance, falling in the pond.

Who they love: Most people, in the platonic sense.

Who they lust: Not an emotion La experiences, except in the metaphorical sense in which case I would say that she lusts for knowledge and experience.

Who do they hate?: No one, at this point, except those who would willingly harm others.

What would they consider the "perfect lover?": A good book.

Is the character judgmental of others and how so?: Not especially, unless she believes that someone is cruel or callous in which case she will judge harshly.

How is s/he perceived by...

Strangers? La doesn't know. I don't know.

Friends? I think that many of them see La in a rather mentorly light.

What happens to change this perception if at all? This isn't something that La or I dwell on much. But I imagine that if she began to behave oddly it would certainly make people unhappy.

Describe their sense of trust: Depends on the situation. She has a high trust for natives of The Forest because she believes that they are most likely to understand her and her culture, but this trust lowers the less of a TEF deer a person is. La is fascinated by deer-faced deer, for instance, but she does not quite believe that they are of her same inheritance. She finds other animals interesting, such as horses or wolves, but again she has a difficulty not seeing them as outsiders who have come to the forest as pilgrims.

What type of individuals does s/he like or associate with? Nice people with an interest in learning.

What type of individuals does s/he avoid? Mean people.

How do they treat members of the opposite sex? Like people.

What do family/friends like most about character? Probably her predictability and hopefully her good heart.

What do family/friends like least about character? Her bookwormishness and occasional preference to stay seated versus run around and play.

Are they still alive? The book's status as living is debateable. On the one hand it is clearly not alive by scientific standards but it is also not entirely unaware of the world and periodically displays decisions, opinions, and senses.

Any important/infamous/famous ancestors, and if so, who? La believes that The Forest itself and the twin gods are all indirectly and nonbiologically her ancestors.

Any fawn(s)? No, La will never be a mother. But she enjoys the company of fawns and she enjoys caring for them.

The Spirit

What are the character's spiritual beliefs? La loves her gods and regularly walks to their statues to sit around and bathe in their light. She gives them love, adoration, and respect but doesn't expect anything from them in return except possibly for attention now and again.

Is religion or spirituality an important part of this character's life? Yes, as it is for all Endless Forest Deer. The Gods are their creators and they hold a special place in La's heart for that.

If so, what role does it play?: Outside of her own religion, La is conscious of a few human religions, but primarily only Christianity as it was when The Ruins were built, and the local human religions before Christianity moved in.

ok, so the quick version is this:
Tanpopo was burned alive by Oduvanchik but when she tried to reincarnate (she's part phoenix), Odu wrapped his petrified wooden body around the fire to snuff it out and keep her soul inside of him, but it turned them into a giant wooden egg n which Sidhe stepped out. A second chance for Odu and Tanpopo with the balance of light and darkness in one mind.
