BRIEF INFORMATIONAL

- In my story-in-progress, Charles is a farmer who lives alone in the countryside. He was once married, but his wife died long ago. He never had children. He is about 56 years old. He has a Scottish accent and is blind in his left eye. (The eye is somewhat glassy in appearance.) Élodie, or myself (SilverBells) ended up being in his care when she was found abandoned on the local church steps. Father Andrew, who lived at the church, was woken in the night by furious pounding at his door. He scrambled down the steps and rushed out, only to find a mewling bundle at his feet. He picked up the infant, and then he realized why the child was abandoned. The swaddling fell away from the child's head, revealing a shock of black hair. Black hair was unheard of in their race. It was considered a curse. Of course Father Andrew took pity on her, and at the next mass, he took Charles to the side. Knowing Charles was a kind gentle man, he asked if he would take the child in out the kindness of his heart, seeing as he had no children of his own. Charles was at first reluctant, but in the end agreed. He raised her, and she grew up knowing his as her father. Élodie called him Papa.
