Any furries who go here on TEF?

Quote:
Furry fandom is a fandom for fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes. Furry fandom is also used to refer to the community of people who gather on the Internet and at conventions.

From Wikipedia

I'm really interested in the whole furry thing, although I don't really go to any of their websites yet. But I sorta consider myself... a very young furry.

And believe it or not, my fursona is actually Waterstar, except instead of a cat-deer thing, she's a pure cat. She's all white except for a little gray on her tail. I should provide a picture of her in a moments.

So if you are a furry, what's your fursona? I really want to know who else is a furry.

Furries have a pretty bad

Furries have a pretty bad reputation, mainly for the sorts of creepers coming from it. The furry fandom is not the most innocent fandom, definitely. This is not to say that everyone is like that. Just be cautious of the darker places of the internet; the furry fandom is not something for younger people I'd say.
Some go as far as to practice being a furry as a lifestyle. I'm sure you've heard of Furry Conventions and of Fursuits. ((I wouldn't go to Cons on my own. heard some disturbing stories before))

I don't consider myself a furry. I like to draw animals and sometimes have them walk on two legs, I have a (quadrupedal) 'animal representation' of me, but that's about it. For some, that would be enough to say 'yep, you're a furry', but I'm not in the fandom. It's not an integral part of me.

I wouldn't say I'm a furry,

I wouldn't say I'm a furry, but I do have a fursona, in a looser interpretation of the word, as is popular on ChickenSmoothie.com (Don't worry it's just a virtual pet site, we don't actually make smoothies out of chickens) where I first learned the concept. They don't have any the creepy connotations there, and are a representation (Or actually you) of yourself as an animal. They can either be anthro or quad.

My I think my fursona is a quad, though she can walk on two legs and have facial expressions, and sometimes wear clothes (Though can't just about any animal in real life?), but she doesn't have any human anatomy, and she can't really talk. She's a Opossum/Dragon hybrid. (Well mostly just possum, but she has a dragon tail.)

Well, as bad as a rep they have... I do consider myself a furry. I love being one, and have met the most fantastic people in my life thanks to it.

My fursona is a Crux named Quintel, and I plan to get a suit made of her one day. I've been to many conventions and it's always such a blast.

^ Pretty much what they said.
There's some neat stuff and really nice folks out there, but there are also some not-so-lovely places. Steer clear of those, do what makes you happy, and be aware that the bad rep of the fandom can get a lot of flak/teasing thrown your way if you get caught poking around, even if you don't consider yourself a Furry.
I have the same problem as Unplugged. Apparently drawing a deer with a face or a cat on two legs makes me a Furry. xD

I'm a Furry. Here are a few

I'm a Furry. Here are a few things to clear up the misconceptions people probably have.

  • Furry is a HOBBY, not a lifestyle.
  • No, YOU are not a (insert animal here) You are a human. Your fursona is (insert animal here)
  • Though the "Yiffy" people are vocal, they are the MINORITY of the fandom.
  • Fursuiters get a lot of the spotlight, but they too are a minority. Being a furry does not mean having to own a fursuit.
  • Furry is spelled F-u-r-r-y, and if you spell it other ways on most sites you get ridiculed for it. I know this from watching someone get flamed for spelling it different.

Yeah, I am a furry. My fursona is a Cacomistle named Grae.

I would suggest that, because you are young, you wait awhile before diving too far in to the fandom. Just stick to lurking on the internet for a bit longer. I would reccommend taking the time to lurk on forums.furaffinity.net . Lurking means don't post anything, just watch. You will learn a lot. Warning though, that place is not for people who b'awww and get butthurt... just look at some of the posts.

(e) Aiv~! hehe You did not have to edit those.

lol, no, but the "ie" is a habit I picked up from Furcadia (where the creatures are 'Furres' - pronounced 'furs') and slip on often because I don't generally delve into Furry conversations/topics.

It's where I first learned to

It's where I first learned to roleplay. Unfortunately, there are few continuities remaining there that A) I am interested in joining and B) are up to par with my standards. I used to run a few, but between school and work... I just can't run the show like I used to :/
I did spend many good years there, however. Joined in '02, only slacked off in the last one or two-ish years.

I wouldn't consider myself

I wouldn't consider myself too big of a furry anyways. I usually might draw some pictures of my fursona or maybe look at some artwork, and I do want a fursuit someday.

Yeah, I don't usually run around telling everyone I'm a furry, pretty much since there's not many furries around, but yes, I am one. I usally just keep it to myself though :3
I have a Master's degree in Wumbology.

I'm a furry. Not the

I'm a furry. Not the convention going, fursuit wearing type, more the artist type. xD

I'll just say like the rest have, there are a lot of good people in the furry community, but you also get quite a few crazies too. And there are the unsavory characters out there as well. But you get that in most communities I think. xD

Just be careful where you go and who you talk to just as you would any other time on the net and all should be well. Also, I'd be really careful on furry art sites if you want to avoid some pretty awful stuff. >.<[Just a helpful side note!]

That said I don't really have a "fursona" anymore unless you count the fellow in my icon. ^^
