What am I supposed to protect? How am I supposed to protect it? When you look like that, you remind me of myself... how I wanted to be shielded, protected. How am I supposed to do what's expected of me, what I was born to do...
... when I can't even protect such a tiny presence. When I can't even protect myself.
If any of you guys are interested in role playing with Melfice, this is your cue. I don't like doing it on biographies, so I created a separate post for it (I hope you don't mind). Feel free to post, and I will respond. Melfice's biography is right there in my signature if you're curious about the character. <3 Naturally, I will read yours once you join in (if you've written one).

This took Melfice by surprise
"I got an idea - why don't we show off our new looks to people? We look pretty different from other fawns now, so they're bound to be surprised."
As an energetic, mischievous little fawn, Melfice often liked the thought that he could frighten someone just for the sake of amusement. It was a harmless prank though, nothing else.

A few drops of rain had not stopped the deer around the forest from playing, they continued to dance and twirl, spar and chat happily under the bright autumn sky. Leaves had turned from a fresh green to that of a sunset, some had twirled from their homes to rest upon the soft forest floor. But when the heavens had opened, the deer had ran to the nearest spots of shelter. Those being under fir trees and primarily the oak. Some had braved the storm, marched bravely through it and some had just sat, protecting those close to them.
Faust had not been one of those chivilrous deer, but had fled as soon as she felt a drop hit her thick furred back. Strong, thin legs had sprung the doe straight into the ruins, avoiding those old, worn headstones and light footed zombies to rest in between two centuries-old walls, from prying eyes.
Faust enjoyed her privacy.
The doe, however was now incredibly bored. summer-blue eyes were cast downwards as she stared at the dusty earth beneath her large body, studying the things next to her hoof; a crushed daisy, a few leaves, a rusted metal thing. She sighed, golden lips parted. The doe was, however glad that the rain had not gotten to her cotton-candy like hair, and that at least she wasn't soaked to the bone.
Damn rain.

A sudden flash in Melfice's mind reminded him of the silver light's words. It was like it was picking at his attention, trying not to let him forget those words. But again, the image of Shady biting down at the fawn made him shudder and freeze in fear again. Such big words had he spoken, but he felt like the one in need of protection now more than anything. Shady, whom he was supposed to befriend and protect, made him feel threatened.
At that moment, he glanced down at his leg wrappings, and they scared him too along with the mask upon his face. What was this? How could Shady make it move, as if it was his face? Would it move the same way for Melfice too?
"G-get away from me!" Melfice exclaimed, despite his promise to stay by Shady's side. He sprinted away alongside the graves, the only thought in his little fawn mind was to escape from the danger. He didn't understand what had just happened, and it scared him.
