Sparx- Saving Serenity

Latte's picture
It had been a week since Serenity had died, or been stolen. She was trying to save me as I was being chased by the Death God, it was all my fault. Latte had tried many times to convince me it wasn't but I knew deep down, if I hadn't run in their direction...
I sighed and looked miserably down at my hooves. Latte and I had settled down under our usual resting spot, there was a gap between us. The gap that Serenity usually rested in. I didn't know Latte quite well so we didn't talk much. My mind drifted onto Serenity...
Thats when it hit me.
Serenity had been killed by a beast once before and the gods had brought her back to life, maybe if I prayed to the gods they would help me! I had to tell Latte the plan. My eyes looked over to Latte.
" Err...Latte? "
Latte looked up, the one blue eye that was showing ( the other covered by her long fringe) was misted with sadness.
" Yes, Sparx? " She said , miserably.
" I've had and idea, to bring Serenity back! " I said, grinning
Her voice was doubtful.
" Let's hear it then? "
" When you and Serenity were killed by the beasts, the twin god brought you to life. If we prayed for Serenity and the god's help at the abiogenesis stones they may bring her back to life! "
Latte sighed, " Sparx, gods can only bring a deer back to life once, but its worth a try, I guess. "
We got to our hooves and headed for the abiogenesis stones.

When we arrived a lot of fawns were prancing around the stone, their pelts were a bright, dazzling white and they were surrounded by an eerie blue glow. Their white pelts were flecked with pink spots and their eyes were rimmed with the same pink shade.
I knelt infront of the great glowing stones and so did Latte. I prayed hard.
Then I heard a voice echoing in my head " There is only one way, meet me at moonlight " My eyes shot open and I stood up straight, glancing at Latte.
" Did you hear it to? " I asked, " The voice, I mean. "
" I did. I guess we have to wait "

That night my eyes suddenly shot open, a cold shiver ran down my spine making my fur tremble.
I got up, it was moonlight. My head twisted left and right, my ears flickering and my eyes searching. It was safe, the wind whispered gently through the leaves of the trees calmingly. As I listened it seemed to say
" Follow the firefly.... "
A golden light darted infront of my face and danced away into the forest, I looked down at Latte, she was asleep. Lifting each hoof cautiously one after the other I followed the dancing firefly deep into the forest until I came to a clearing. There stood one of the twin gods.
Her beautiful mist, coloured fur gleamed in the moonlight rays and her mane and tail flowed out in luminous white waves. On her back were two , large, feathered wings. Her antlers, which were also white sprawled off in many curled 'branches' all the way along her back. Her mask was of a deer, white with golden vines patterend across it.
My heart tugged and I felt like running over to her and burying my face in her fur. It was love, but not the love a stag feels for his doe, the love a fawn feels for its mother. It made my legs tremble and she took a step forwards, her heavenly voice echoed in my head.
" Sparx...we do not have much time. To save Serenity you must venture into the realm of the dead and take her with you. Climb on my back ,we must reach the triangles quickly " She said softly, and knelt down.
I flopped my legs over each side of her pelt, being careful of her wings, and settled into a position so that I wouldn't fall off as she ran, but, she didn't run.
Her powerful hind legs slammed into the earth and her strong wings beat at the air, and we took off!
We flew, up and up, into the trees. Then out into the midnight sky, I felt as if I could reach out and touch the wide moon or the little starts that glittered around it. We moved swiflty through the air and I decided this was the best thing in the world. The breeze ruffled in my fur and I felt as if all my trouble were gone, I felt free.
Then she dive-bombed steeply, I clung on for my life. Her wings were folded neatly by her side and her neck was stretched out, trying to gain speed. We got closer and closer to the ground, the earth got nearer and nearer, fear shot through me.
Her wings shot out and worked as a parachute, she slowed down and landed lightly on the grass. I let out a sigh of releif, adrenaline coursing through my body. I slid off her back and awaited instructions. We had come to land on a hill and infront of me were several small statues, positioned to make a triangle.
" Step inside, Sparx " She said softly. I brought my legs over the statues until i stood in the center of the triangle.
" Listen carefully, if you have fear once in the realm of the dead, the demons, spirits and ghosts will feast off it until your soul is gone forever..." my eyes widened " Many things in the world will try and convince you to stay, if you agree your soul will be trapped in the realm of the dead forever. If you have suceeded in getting Serenity to come back with you, as soon as you gallop back onto the plains, the dead will chase you. Along with Death. If they cut your soul open with their antlers your soul will wander the worlds, restless, forever..."
Thanks, I thought, this is meant to be encouraging?
She chuckled as if reading my thoughts and said , " Swallow your fear, Sparx. Good luck, my son "
I gasped and turned towards her as she said 'son' but flames sprang up around the triangle, closing on me, circling me. The fire tormented me, the flames brushed against my fur. Then the ground burnt away. I found myself, falling, falling, into the pits of hell.....

To be continued...
