This my cat Cassie. She was found by the side of the road when she was the size of your palm by someone who works with my dad. The person who found her was actually very allergic to cats and decided to give her to us. We've had her now for about seven years, so she is about middle aged. About three hours ago she was playing in the kitchen and screamed out, and lost all control of her bowels. She began shaking and panting quickly, and fell to the ground. She was crying out for help, she was scared and confused. We thought it was just a seizure so we sat with her and comforted her, thinking it would all be over in about 10 to 20 minutes, right? Wrong. Forty minutes later, my mom finally calls the vet. He doesn't answer. We try another but still no answer. About twenty minutes later the first vet calls back and tells us it could be a blood clot and she needs to get to an emergency vet clinic ASAP. The nearest one is 25 minutes away. By the time we got there, she had passed. She had died of a heart attack and there was nothing we could do to save her. I'll admit I didn't have the best relationship with her but I am completely heart broken that she is gone. I wish I could have been more to her then I was, a litter-mate. I love her, for all the little things she did. I haven't stopped crying since we got to the vet's office two hours ago.

For an English assignment I

For an English assignment I wrote about the loss of our dog, Roxy, last night, and even though it happened months ago, I was sobbing as I wrote, quieted, and cried hard again re-reading it.
It is such an acutely painful loss. My heart is with you.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.

It is never fun to lose a

It is never fun to lose a pet... because after being with them for so long you start a bond. And that bond is strong, they are like your family, your children and the like. I have gone through... many, pets in my years (Being 23 now and all) and it never gets easier. My first dog had to be put to sleep because her hips were pulling apart and there was no way to fix it, the first group of cats that myself and my mother had passed with old age, and more over the years.

The most painful one was when I took in a gorgeous golden tabby spayed female because her owners threw her out after awhile. And while I didn't have her for long (maybe about 4 or 5 months) I had grown extremely attached to her. And I regret ever getting my hair dyed and done on the day that I did, because if I had been just... 5 minutes earlier she would still be with me today.

What had happened was I had been waiting for awhile to get my hair done by my friend. To have it dyed and worked on, and I did. On that day before I had gotten home with my friend Sunny was outside of course and walking across the street (My neighbors told me everything) and some... person, saw her... sped up his car and hit her... they said the driver literally revved his car up and hit her.

I am now dreading the day when my eldest canine companion finally passes herself. She is I think 13 or 14 years old now and while she is still up and moving around, she is just getting too old. My heart goes out to you.

Even though you weren't very

Even though you weren't very close, when you lose a pet that has been with you for so long it still hurts when they pass. - About 3 or 4 years ago my brothers dog died. I never felt very attached to the dog but he had been in our family since I was about 6 or 7. I still get bummed out when I think about his passing, because even though it is years later, that was a pretty cool dog that brought a lot of enjoyment to my family.

I'm sorry you've all lost your cat. You guys were there for her, and you tried. You are good people for trying to comfort her. *hugs*

In my life I had four dogs.

In my life I had four dogs. Two whom are currently with me. Two died. One of old age. Hew couldn't move, couldn't eat. He just lay, getting weaker and weaker.....we couldn't look at this..We had to put him down and that was like the wors imaginable thing. He was 15 years old and at the end of his days was really really tired most of the time.

Second dog who knew the first one and then received another companion so that he wouldn't be alone- died when he was 5. He got sick- and died. He was really wriggingl with pain bit no one wanted to go through putting down again because it was to terrible to do. So we took care of him as much as we could but he was in so mucb pain and then he died.

You remeber these things with much, much sadness.

Oh god, honey!
I am really sorry. Losing a pet is like losing a little piece of you, and sadly it happens. We've all gone through it, and are all here for you if you need to talk, alright? Please feel better. She's in a better place now... and even if it's not a comforting thought: animals always know when you have loved them. Don't forget that, I'm sure she knew.

I'm sorry for not getting

I'm sorry for not getting back until now. Right after I posted this I went to bed completely exhausted, both mentally and physically. I thank you all for posting, I had no idea so many people here cared about me. It warms my heart to be reminded I'm not the only one going through all of this, seeing as many of you posted stories about your deceased loved ones.

As I read through the comments I started crying again. It was a short cry but a good one. I needed the release. I went to school for half the day today and choked up quite a few times. My brother comforted me during band class which helped some.

Also I want to say that had Cassie never been found, she wouldn't even have lived past the day she was found. She had been abandoned by her mother because she was very sickly and her mother knew that she was not going to live long. Because we found her, she lived seven healthy, happy years. And here come the waterworks again.

But again, thank you, all of you. I really appreciate the comfort. I needed it.

If you desire to here a

If you desire to here a slightly, less sad tale I do have one to speak. Earlier last year I had a Squirrel... as a pet yes. I know it might sound weird and everything but she was the cutest thing in the world. Now, for the story of how I acquired my precious little companion.

Squirrely (As she was so happily named) was found when she was just a baby, too small to be away from her mother and out on her own. We had had storms previously which was likely why she would have fallen from the safety of her nest in the beginning. We found her in the middle of the road and were quick to scoop her up (With quite the fuss mind you) into a box to get her home.

My grandmother thought she would have died (As did we) because of how young she was but... amazingly enough. After we got her home, set up in a bird cage and gave her feed, water and an old fish food can for a 'hiding spot' she went right about eating and drinking happily. And she continued to do so, and lived. She was the greatest little bugger in the house as well... XD

All over the place when she got to the age of wanting to get out. She would jump out of her cage, climb the tree branches we brought in for her (We had to put some in her cage because she LOVED chewing on the bark) and would sometimes come over and lay stretched out on my shoulder. Yes, she was still a wild animal but she loved her head scratches and her belly rubs (I would play with her like that XD) and was basically a... 'kitten' in nature.

Now she's outside living happily in the neighborhood trees, I would often go outside and see her. She'd run back down to me and sniff my hand and get some head scratches before hopping off and on her way. But funny how it was that we thought she wouldn't have made it but in the end she's living a happy, and VERY healthy life outside.
