[ Ohh hello there. I'm glad we could make you happy, and there's no need to be intimidated with us, really. Thank you for your company, too. I appreaciate it. ^^ ]
The place once was a magnificent building. An alive, breathing life. But the time took it all. The time took it all away. The walls were dead. Thrashed by the sunlight, the wind and the rain, as well as by the vines that made their hope upon them, the concrete, now soaked with the smell of the nature it was falling apart in, was slowly turning to sand. Many deer were unnerved by the place, but she wasn't one of these deer. She found it beautiful. She enjoyed it there. It reminded her of... something. Something she couldn't quite get, yet.
The black deer rested on the sunbathed earth, tines of her deep red antlers pointing towards the sky, reaching out towards the sun, reaching out as if they wanted to tear the sky apart. She noticed the other deer approaching the structure, but she didn't care. They were everywhere. They minded their own business, much like she did. She thought that as she saw that deer with these curly horns pass by. But the deer was curious. The doe went up as the male approached her. Though she did have made that floor into a good low-power-consumption-mode place, she didn't mind. She was always happy to meet new faces. "Hello?"
Curiosity had finally gotten the best of Sanno. He'd notice a particularly focused black deer, sitting tall, proud, and un-phased by the many that past by day after day, as he tended to the tombs and also kept an eye over Hydra as she was recovered from some injuries.
After summoning up a bit of courage, he rose from his place near the great dragon and slowly approached the quiet observer. He'd seen scarcely a movement from her in days, apart from the steady rise and fall of her chest and shoulders as she breathed in seamless rhythm with the air of this once majestic temple, and expected to approach her without much response. It quite startled him when she rose with confidence from her resting place and approached to meet him halfway.
"Hello," he responded to her kind greeting. "I hope that I have not disturbed you these last few days with my routes 'round the graves. A slave to this place, you understand. Many would say that this monastery has lost it's light from former days and thus, they stay away. But you lay confidently, all this time. Tell me, what is your name?"
The doe stood still, facing the other with a side of her body somewhat exposed to him. A casual stance. For a while, the only move she made was a smile after the stag responded to her greeting.
"Of course you haven't." For the doe, the stag's presence was something he didn't have to apologize for at all. She existed, too. She walked and ran and played past the others as well. The spacetime that the Forest is was for everyone to enjoy. A slave to the place? Now that was someting new. It caught the glitch's attention. She wanted to know more. But she didn't know enough, not even about herself. She didn't know herself well. She didn't know the law of action and reaction well. And so, she stayed silent.
"I'm not always here, but I do enjoy spending my days among this weatherworn concrete, that's right. I like this place. It's familiar. It reminds me of something that I can't quite understand," she explained, looking up at the blue sky as if the answer for whatever she might have wondered about waited somewhere up there, out there.
There was nothing to hide. A few hours with the glitch, and her living black pelt might make it clear she actually isn't from this world.
"You can call me Jen. And what about you?"
Sanno's eye followed hers upwards and into the endless blue which stretched across the heavens like a garment of turquoise. For a moment they gazed, lost together, into the infinite space above as if searching the invisible stars for answers. Finding none, his focus returned to the wreckage around them as he replied, "Quite curious the comfort found in crumbled stones, don't you think? I wonder... what secrets and stories might they hold? Often I imagine what they would share should they choose to speak. Tell me, Jen, are questions and mysteries such as these what draw you to this place? Or can you too hear the groans from these stones? I come here often to pray for the lost souls that cry out from beneath their markers; a simple Keeper of the Graves..."
His eye scanned over the familiar headstones and he smile jubilantly as a few tears came down his left cheek. "My name is Sannosuke. It's a pleasure.
