Seems to wear poppies on his antlers quite a lot nowadays.
Out of game Jacob`s base fur is a golden color, spanning from the back of his head, and covering his flanks. His face is white, and appears to be similar to that of a little boy`s-human faced with light, wide blue eyes. Atop his head is a mass of messy black hair. Both of his ears are golden, like most of his body with white inner far. On the back of his ears are an array of brown stripes, on either side of which are little spots of the same color.
On Jacob`s front legs are simple, pure white stripes. On his hind legs, the design is a bit more complicated- the center of his hind legs is a solid brown, additionally flanked by the same brown stripes and spots found on his ears. All four of his hooves are a pure white.
His tail is small and fluffy, that of a normal deer. A small white patch can be found on its underside.
Antlers span out of his mass of black hair, similar to those of a whitetail deer.
Home A crooked willow tree, overlooking the Blue Bowl. A source of comfort, yet another of nostalgia and longing. Visits occasionally. (Coor. 463x262 will get a picture up sometime ;-;)
Gifts A feather: Given by his sister when he was very young. May have slight magical properties-though Jacob himself is not aware of it. Temporarily given to Halla when she was taken away by her demons. Hidden somewhere at home.
A necklace with a stone attached to it: A special stone, gifted to him by his mother, Orinoco. Engraved with her pictogram. Allows him to communicate with her while she repays the debt bestowed upon her. Treasured; keeps hidden somewhere at home.
Personality
Jacob`s viewpoint on a perfect world isn`t so much different from that of a moderately sane individual. He wishes for no more than a world in which all are at peace, a realm of tranquility where friends and family alike can get by with their daily lives with no concern. Surely, only the basest of creatures would not long for a world such as this-or so he hopes.
However, the golden buck is no stranger to the harshness of reality. Growing up amidst chaos and strained relations, he knows better than to dream. It would be sheer lying to say that the events he came of age upon did nothing to shape his views of the world. Indeed, the buck has formed clear views of right and wrong-though it is not to say that he will accept or deny those completely on the basis of first impressions. It can, however, be made certain that he will treat you in the same way that you choose to treat his family and friends-the treasured which he holds in highest regard. Indeed, the golden buck views those he is close to with the utmost respect and reverence-no one is more special.
This does not mean, however, that he will merely stand aside if a stranger happens to come under harm in his presence-though it does depend highly on the current situation. If he witnesses two strangers fighting, he will likely not get himself involved. If a young one is being pursued or harmed, however, it is likely that he will not hesitate to jump in-or at least stay nearby and try to investigate. It is no secret that the golden buck has a soft spot for fawns-his past experiences have changed his view of the small ones from slight nuisances to those who must be protected. If someone attempts to harm a fawn in Jacob`s presence, it is not likely that they will escape retribution.
Jacob tends to be rather mildly-tempered and passive most times-he prefers to walk away from a fight, rather than engage in them unless absolutely necessarily. However, one can find that it is surprisingly easy to get him irritated. Indeed, his young days saw many rather childish temper tantrums-though this has greatly evened out since then. Even so, those that invade his personal space or attempt to bring some form of irritation upon his loved ones can expect a rather irate buck. However, one may soon find that getting Jacob angry and goading him into attacking you are two very different things. While somewhat quick to anger, it takes a massive amount of effort to get Jacob to actually inflict harm upon another. He simply does not view it as his place to injure another creature unless absolutely necessary. It is far more likely that he will "bluff-charge" one than actually ever touch them with his antlers. He favors giving warnings far more than attacking.
In spite of his rather peculiar temper, he is quite welcoming toward strangers. As long as you don`t barrel into him and proceed to start rearing him around, you are almost sure to receive a friendly greeting. Indeed, he usually does not mind that company of strangers- after all, even his closest friends were mere strangers once. This is not to say that he is not slightly suspicious of strangers at first glance-though this is just a natural reaction to meeting others.
While those that do him and loved ones good will be treated likewise, the ones that choose to react toward him and those he is close to will not soon be forgotten nor forgiven. Those that attempt to injure either will be remembered and regarded warily. This would be one of the few cases where he may actually be driven to hurt another-even though he usually will not attack them unless they attack first. Normally.
The events of the golden bucks life have also left deep within their own mark, one of insecurity and doubt. It is often that the buck doubts himself and his abilities to protect and care for those he loves. It is many times that he feels he is "just not good enough" and that the tragedies that befall the ones around him are partly his fault. The quest for pursuing what is believed to be right bring guilt with them, in his case. However, the golden buck will always strive to achieve the things he believes are best for his loved ones-and surely, no one would protest to that. (WIP bleh)
Traits
- Has an extremely good sense of smell. Can often remember the scent of a deer that he hasn`t seen in a while. Can sent deer from a rather long distance away. Tries to sniff many of the new deer that he meets in order to memorize their scent.
- Has a mild distaste for the Pond. This used to be much worse when he was younger, to the extent that he would be reluctant to take even a single step in. Now prefers sticking to the more shallow parts of the Pond. Doesn`t like going very deep into it, but will if he has to.
- Prefers the Bridge over jumping the stream. The golden fawn would much rather use a nice stone bridge to cross the stream than having to jump over it. Ironically, was terrified of crossing the Bridge when he was first introduced to it. Will only jump the stream if in a rush.
- Intrigued by the Ruins. Was fascinated with the old stone structure from the moment his mother introduced him to it. Used to refrain from running while nearby the Ruins. Also had a habit of half-bowing to the pagan statues- something he saw his mother do- but seems to have dropped it. Isn`t as obsessed as he used to be, but still loves visiting there occasionally.
-Not good at bowing. The fawn has never liked bowing much- he wasn`t ever too good at it. Prefers a little half-bow and a sniff or two over a full bow. Very rarely performs a full bow.
-Trees are fun to beat up. Ever since his nubs started growing in, Jacob has developed a habit of antlering various trees. Though it was initially for quelling his itching head, this now largely seems to be a way of diffusing his anger or annoyance toward others. Will still do it for fun occasionally.
-Detests loud or mooing deer. These deer only make him uncomfortable- the buck doesn`t like it at all. Easily spooked by it. Not many deer sit well with a random stranger running up and screaming in their faces, right? If confronted by such a deer, will either politely try to tell them no, or "bluff charge" them. It all depends on the situation.
-Seems to have slight "herding" tendencies. Has developed a habit of trying to lead deer he knows to other deer that they and/or also knows. Doesn`t mean any harm by it- though he is currently unaware of the fact that that not everyone likes this.
-Susceptible to panic attacks. If irritated or spooked, particularly loud or rambunctious deer coming near may cause Jacob to have somewhat of a "nervous breakdown." This usually consists of frantic head shaking and a combination of rearing and lowering his nubs. This is rarely intended to do real harm; it is simply a way of showing his distress and warning the other deer to back off.
-Often doesn`t nuzzle deer unless he knows them very well. Often gets a bit surprised when a deer that he hasn`t known for a long time nuzzles him. Sometimes makes him uncomfortable. Truly means no harm by this though- is fact, his surprise at this can sometimes be described as "I really mean that much to you?" or "You really like me that much?" Despite this, he will still nuzzle deer to reassure them or make them feel better.
-
Growing protectiveness toward fawns. Developing a soft spot for fawns as a result of being around so many newborns. Likely to want to watch over and protect the fawns he knows, especially mini fawns. Still not too keen on loud,"annoying" ones, however.
