A slight suspicion filled his mind when the doe beside him seemed to be so eager. He quickly looked at her couple times, just to make sure she wouldn't cross the line he had drawn to the ground with his mind. After a while he had to ask "..W-why on earth are you so excited...?"

It seemed like the simplest thing in the world, right? Silly stag. Still, she took the cue from him and settled some, hunching her shoulders as she continued to glance him over, undaunted by his less than social behavior. "You were bigger...before, when I saw you. You didn't notice me though...I didn't mean to spy, just...there were all those cute fawns. Anyway, I like you better this size, I think. I'm glad you got your pretty red fur back..."

"... Before?" Who was this doe? He had never seen her around, yet she knew that he had a bigger form. "Like me better, eh? Uh, well... Thanks.... I guess.." Now compliments. This was certainly strange, but the compliments felt good to him and he relaxed, just a bit.

The corner of her mouth twitched, the muscles around her eyes relaxing as a knowing glimmer rippled through her gaze. She seemed more amused by his question then put off. "Everyone's a stranger, in the beginning. A stranger could end up being your best friend, right?" Her head tilted, long braided hair slipping from her shoulders to dust the dirt. Two large black feathers followed, catching the light and playing gently in the breeze. "Besides...Nobody should be sad. Especially not on such a pretty day." Once more, she grinned, her smile consuming the lower half of her face before she turned it up into the sun and closed her eyes against the glare, basking in its light.

"Hmmmh..." That was his simple answer. He knew she was right, but didn't admit it. He looked at the doe and her hair, how it shined when the sunbeams touched it. She was, actually, a very pretty doe.
Her big grin made him finally completely relaxed, and he shifted slightly in order to gain a more comfortable position. "Heh.... Guess so..." He grinned back at her and even let out a small chuckle.
"What's your name, girl?" He asked, swinging his head, trying to get his black hair away from blocking his eyesight.

Sweat began to pearl beneath the wooden cover and the doe forced her head down again, her smile faltering as she too shifted to find a more comfortable settling. At the sound of his chuckle, she glanced back up, ears pricking and softness returning. When he asked for her name, her tail curled over her back and began to sway again. Clearly, the acknowledgment pleased her. "Sonne. My name's Sonne," the doe, a hint of pride in her voice even as she straightened up where she sat. Watching him, she bit her lip and muffled a faint giggle as he shook his head, fighting against his own hair. She liked it, she found... So dark against his rich red coat. "And yours, sir?"

Again he inspected the other one's body language, trying to figure her out. His eyes narrowed when he noticed how the doe was feeling uncomfortable, but relaxed again when she seemed to come out of it. He tried to hold another chuckle down as he saw how her tail started to sway again. It was funny to see how that looked like, he knew his tail did the same thing when he was happy.
"Sonne, eh...? That's a pretty name you got. Sounds so... Bright for some reason." He gave up with his hair, obviously nothing was going to work. He glared his hair in disgust for a while before answering to Sonne's question.
"Most of the ones I know call me Kalma, but you can call me whatever you like, Sonne." He smiled a little, but it may have been unseen because of his mask, which was covering a large part of his face.
“Isn't it?” the doe heartily agreed, seemingly completely unaware of how vain such an agreement might sound. “It means 'Sun'...in-...mm, Ger-min? I guess that's something some humans speak.” Sonne rolled her shoulders, yet her self-satisfied smile brightened. “Kal-ma...” She rolled the name on her tongue once he'd given it. It had a soft sound...surprisingly not what she would have expected from him. Maybe it was his loud colors. Still, it wasn't all unpleasant to taste. Her blue-green eyes brightened. “Is that the name...your mother gave you? Does it mean something?”
"Ahh yes... Haha, thought that it sounded familiar. Sonne, the sun... Absolutely beautiful." He watched how her smile got wider and grinned to it before he even realized it. There was something extremely unique about this doe. The world seemed like a better place when she was smiling.
His own grin started to tremble when he heard her next guestion and it took a while before he was able to form any voice from his throath. ".... N-no, that is the name I wanted to use myself. I don't think it means anything at all..." He looked a bit away when he stated that, trying to avoid any questions from the past and tried to look something nonexistent at the horizon, hoping that her attention would turn to somewhere else than him.

Unfortunately? The doe frowned a little at that, but then, she shouldn't have been surprised. There were many things about the human world that fascinated the simple-minded little doe, but...surely the place was not as wondrous as she seemed to think. After all, Jack and her Master had come from there, and...well... They had not left unscathed. Still, it was hard to let the negativity cloud her judgement of the place. After all, she had visited it a time or two and... Sonne blushed. Tilting her head toward the ground, she watched as a couple ants marched passed, barely acknowledging the presence of the two giants. "Ger-man," she repeated, still looking away, softening the word as he had, "That's right." An ear swiveled toward him, then her eyes soon followed, curiosity brimming within them once more. "Spanish? What does...Spanish sound like?"
His grin got even wider when he noticed how the other one blushed. He even crept closer and gave a slight poke to her withers with the tip of his mask. "Hey, it's alright. You can say Ger-min if you like. ... I think it sounds even better like that." His grin turned into a soft smile, and he was somehow proud of himself when he touched the doe. Touching 'strangers' was getting a bit easier to him all the time, even if it was still hard for him. "Heh, Spanish? It sounds stupid. And es un idioma difícil, it's a hard language." He tried to pronounce that as clearly as possible, but his tongue didn't seem to bend enough after so much English.
Sonne didn't understand the significance of the touch, really. True, she had noticed that the stag kept wary distance between them, but she had written it off as simple shyness. She glanced back at him, her smile still a bit sheepish, but the gesture seemed to relax her some.
Spanish... The doe straightened as the foreign words slipped from the red's tongue, her eyes on his lips, ears ticked forward. Yes...this was definitely something different. "Was that it? Wow...Stupid? Oh, no! It's-..." Sonne paused, and her plump bottom lip disappeared momentarily between her teeth as she considered her words. "...Pretty. German isn't very pretty...Hard to make those sounds. I like the way your voice changes when you say it. Say some more...?"

He felt slightly embarrassed when he saw how the doe concentrated on what he said. The language wasn't anything special to him, even if he preferred Spanish when he got angry and insulted everything. He tilted his head, still smiling. "Yes. Spanish. ... Or do you prefer... Span-nesh, maybe?" His smile morphed into a smirk and he let out a few chuckles. "Heheh, sorry Sonne. ... Ger-min... hahhahhah..."
He tried to get more serious, even if he still felt like chuckling. He wondered if Sonne would be that kind of type who couldn't handle a joke, there were many who couldn't take his is somewhat insulting jokes even if he didn't usually mean anything bad. He just plopped them out of his mouth before he thought about it. "Ah well, thank you I guess... I don't really like to speak it so much, I only slip out a few words when I, uh, get angry or something."
At the flash of his smirk, the doe's cheeks slowly grew red again - at least the parts visible beneath the curls of her mask. Her ears sank back at his mocking tone, her smile faltering, fading...then returning as a pursed-lip pout. Good natured amusement danced in her eyes even as they narrowed on him, a snort of air forced from her nostrils in mock hurt. Sonne shifted her weight and leaned her shoulder into him, rocking into his space and bumping into his own. "Don't make fun! I'm still learning... I'd love to learn more." Her lips relaxed and softened at the idea, then the corners curled up before a small laugh bubbled from her throat. "So getting you angry is the secret? Hmm...I'll have to think about that one. Anyway...Mister Cypher's teaching me how to spell."
Sonne shifted again, but this time she leaned away from Kalma, stretching out her formerly tucked foreleg. With the press of her hoof she began to carefully etch an 'S' shape into the dirt. "I don't think Mister Jack would ever teach me any German. He doesn't...like it when I spell things, either." Again, her ears fell, brows knitting beneath her mask as her smile grew wry. She drew an 'O' next, then started on the first 'N'. "But Master Bright...I think he'd like it."
"Hey hey heyyyy...!!" He took a deep breath when he was so suddenly touched, panic flashed in his eyes, but he sat still. His body shivered and his voice trembled when he answered, "S-sorry Sonne. Of course, who wouldn't love to l-learn..."
His body almost forced itself to relax when he heard her laugh. So soothing. "I seriously don't recommend that," he said with a quiet tone, "I tend to say and do things that I later regret." He finished his sentence with a melancholic smile. He relaxed completely when the doe leaned away from him, still somehow his mind yearned for more touch. His thoughts were interrupted when Sonne began to draw something to the ground. A letter...? "Well... I would pester someone as long as I'd get what I want," he replied, still eyeing the shape she drew. He looked up and saw how her appearance seemed to turn somewhat unhappy. His eyes narrowed slightly, he wanted Sonne to be happy. When she finished the first 'N', he bended his head close to the ground and slowly drew the rest of the letters with the tip of his mask while he listened her voice. "... I bet he would like it."
The doe was too focused on her own task to notice the uncomfortable effect her actions had had on the stag. He hadn't jerked away or scolded her, after all...and hadn't he touched her earlier? No, the thought simply didn't register. What did draw her eyes was his interruption. The tip of his skull prodded into her work space, and she leaned back a little, tilting her head and watching as he finished the name. Her name. Another swelling of pride twitched into her smile. “I don't know if 'pestering' would do much good. I don't...want to be a bother,” she answered quietly before lifting her eyes and offering a more 'knowing' smile, “Or make anyone say something they'll regret.”
Hunching her shoulders, she turned back to the dirt. Kalma. She whispered the name, then rolled it slowly over her tongue in silence, 'sounding out' the letters like she'd been told. 'Kkkahh' sounded like the sounds in 'Jack'... Carefully, she began to carve a 'K' into into the ground, biting down once more on her lip. K...then A...then- She stopped, face scrunching in thought before her lips pressed together and she peered up at him sheepishly through her lashes. “I forget this one...”
