Just random bits of information about Eve. Unlikely to stick to one romantic partner. Has loved and lost too many times in her life to let herself rely on another individual. Enjoys a romantic connection but is very unlikely to commit. At this point more attracted to females than males. Physically, both genders have her appreciation, but emotionally, females seem to be more to her mindset. It is quite clear she has a type, though variation from this would not be surprising. Likes a forceful personality and a quick wit. Very flirtatious. Instead throws herself into the protection of her charges, thrives when taking care of others. In a way it lets her take care of herself. Becomes lethargic and cold when she feels she isn’t needed. Doesn’t have many friends because of her deliberate independence, is reluctant to form attachments. Will play with anyone, but shares nothing of herself. Trusts no one who says they will never leave. Everyone always leaves at one point, but has resigned herself to losing bits of herself to her loved ones. Would prefer they be realistic about it. Once you have befriended her she is an open book to you. Will answer any questions with little hesitance. A talker once you get her going. Shows no reluctance in sharing once she has decided to let you in. Is sometimes confused when friends are not as forthcoming as she is. Forgiveness is in her nature, a fact that she loathes at times. A bad first impression means little, it takes time to know someone and will not judge based on her first impressions. Even if you have wronged her, she will forgive. She doesn’t seem to have any other choice, although there is a limit to her second chances. Sees no point to holding grudges. Has little desire for revenge, can’t bring herself to intentionally harm other just to ‘get back at’ them. Does not mean she will not avoid certain individuals, just will not go out of her way to show her distaste. Little ones and big ones came and went in such a flurry of activity that he wasn't yet used to, but this new one was nice and so constant.
He lay there snuggled against her with his soft fur puffed up slightly in contentment. After a moment of resting his eyes, his head lolled back sleepily in an upright position until he was looking up at her face, and he felt a new sound bubbling up from somewhere between his ears that was fighting to burst out his mouth. Speaking was still hard for him and so his little face scrunched up in frustrated concentration for such a long time that his nose turned a little red, but then it came out
"MEHV!"
and there it was!
Delight rolled across his face in great, warm beams and he said her name a few more times before he got too tired and his head dropped to the grass with a soft thunk.

~
Summer light filtered through the hands of the trees that stretched towards the heavens, silent but for the hum of beetles and flying creatures resting in their grasp. The forest was sleepy in the heat; fur sticking to skin and small flies tickling the edges of ears. It was quiet, and in that silence, in that heat of the sultry afternoon, the cold ghost shifted in his slumber. He wasn't "sleeping", per se, as creatures devoid of souls or life don't require sleep, but it was a hibernation, a resting for his ageless shell of a body. A way to pass the time.
The translucent, white creature was huddled into a semicircle around the base of a tree, and his form quivered with the rippling of nonexistant muscles under nonexistant skin as he stood. He yawned in canine-like fashion, conical incisors flashing in the light, and stretched. His fur was always in motion like an ether of wind encased his frame, and the edges of his joints and appendages were frayed like an old photograph. He existed, yet he did not. But whatever he was, whatever he truly was behind his globular, moonstone eyes, he needed things to do, and an entire forest was waiting.
Hot. Hot and sticky. Eve hated it at the moment. Of course, she was perfectly fine in this heat, since her fur was capable of dispersing the heat, but today she hated it on principle. The sun and its cheerful... sunniness. If Eve was unhappy nothing else in her vicinity was allowed to be cheerful either.
Her brother was absent, her cousin was also absent and also injured thanks to Eve, and the doe was feeling absolutely useless. Nothing to look after. No one to take care of. Dreadful. So she huddled in the shade and snorted defiantly at everything that came near. She needed something to do but her stubborn nature was overcoming any sense of boredom. It didn't help that a fawn had come by and turned her blue. Blue. Eve hated blue. (This was a new occurrence- she had been perfectly fine with blue until her rebellious pelt had taken on the color, but you don't need to know that.)
At that moment she was stretched, sloppily in the dirt, her nose practically touching the base of the tree bearing her territorial marks, watching a procession of ants make their way up the the trunk. Lifting her head, she cast golden eyes around the area before letting her head fall forward and hit the tree with a clunk. The ants cheerfully filed past her. Her eyes narrowed. Goddamn happy ants. She closed her eyes with a sigh and wished for something, ANYTHING, to happen.
The stag lifted his ears and sniffed in the direction of the coming zephyr, but he needn't search for what he sought; he already knew where to find it. The young doe that had caught his interest so long before was around, and her energy pulsated through the trees, the leaves, the very air that surrounded the white creature. He silently moved in the direction of the energy, sometimes fading completely into the aura as he walked. His hooves made no sound against the dirt, but the shifting of particles of gravel made an uncomfortable crunching sound that might have dismantled the stag's stealthy presence, but he was as formless as the sky and could hide in plain sight. The doe would never know he was there.
The energy buzzed and hummed in the air as he approached his target, and he crept around behind the blue hind as she sat with her head pressed against a tree. The red-antlered stag's soul-less, white eyes watched the cyan-furred female, and his gaze washed over the curve of her spine, the point of her hip bones and the pivot of her ears. He absorbed himself entirely in the presence of the doe to the point of aesthetic intoxication, and couldn't help himself but to approach her. He was silent in his step, and made a half-circle behind the doe, letting his long, feathered tail wrap gently wrap around the lower back of the female.
With a content sigh, he turned and fell into the ground, head first, the side of his face hitting the grass with a gentle thud, and the rest of his body following, erethreal joints tumbling effortlessly over each other, landing himself beside her, pupil-less eyes fixed onto the hind's golden ones.
"...greetings."
He smiled darkly, but with a genuine tone to his voice that insisted some sort of trust or connection. However, it was hard to tell with him. You never quite knew what was going on under those crimson-peach antlers.

Eve was just starting to doze off, head still pressed to her tree when a soft touch to her flanks startled her awake. Her head smacked against the tree as she jumped, and struggled to haul herself to her feet, craning her head around wildly to see what had disturbed her. As her eyes fall on the ghostly form that had been wrapped around her, they nearly popped from her skull. Both of her skulls. Jaw working desperately, she scrambled a few, rapid steps backwards. "You! You. You, you, what- Nooo. No. Nope. Uh-uh. You are not real. You are an imaginary... thing I hallucinated as a fawn. You're not even an imaginary friend. I don't even-" Eve stops, clamps her mouth shut, and stills completely for a few moments. Then, leaning forward, she turns her head to inspect him with one nearly glowing eye- the bright yellow giving away her anxious energy.
"Uhhhm. Heeeyy, creepy childhood hallucination... guy. Are you uh... having a nice time making me doubt my sanity?" Her eyes loose focus for a moment as she mutters to herself, "Look at me. I'm probably talking to thin air. Gods help me..."
The stag laughed and rolled
"A thing you hallucinated?" The buck reels over onto his side in a fit of giggles before hauling himself to his full height, proudly a few inches taller than the female, still.
He smiled, blinking long, transparent eyelashes at the hind. "You've gotten so tall..." He marvels as he makes a few quick circles around the doe, his tail brushing over her hooves and lower limbs. He stops, inches away from her face, and exhales slowly, quietly. Making direct eye contact with her, his voice seems hushed, strangled, as if it's hard for him to put words together. Perhaps...nervous.
"Hnn...you're so...pretty I...haven't seen life...here in a long time...not like yours...no..." He searches her face, wanders his eyes over her frame again, then suddenly bows his head and slips beneath her front legs, brushing up against her like a cat would to its mother.
Mewing quietly, he flicks his ears and turns quickly in the dirt to face her. The stag's maw was permenantly fixed in this altogether creepy, haunting smile, but it beamed especially bright in this moment.
"Now tell me, Evelys. You do remember me, yes? I'd be hurt if you didn't..." He batted his eyelashes and sat promptly down on his haunches like a puppy awaiting a morsel of food, waiting for her to speak again.
Eve began to regain composure
Cold lips pressed to her own. Fear and adrenaline. So young. She had been so young...
The ethereal voice startled her from her flashback. "Yeah. Hallucinated... maybe."
Such manic giggling, it made Eve's fur stand on end and her ears flicked forward involuntarily. Unconsciously, she began to lean forward, so curious, but froze as the white stag stood, ridiculously long limbs unfolding to carry him up and up. She remembered his height, too. Not as impressive now that she had grown.
"I have, yeah. The upside of having sambar in your genes. What are you-" Her mouth snapped shut as the ghost circled her, the touch of his cool fur made her shiver, but still the doe had no desire to move away from him. She was much too intrigued. Amazed at having found this missing piece of her childhood.
She gasped and lifted her front hoof slightly, rocked back as he twisted around her legs. "Thanks, you too..." she muttered vacantly, mouth open slightly as she twisted her neck around to look at his face. The feline-esque movement of the hart startled her. It amused her, even, previous foul mood evaporated. Even his terrifying gape of a mouth intrigued her and she found herself wanting to pull back his lips with a hoof. To examine those razor canines. Yet she still stood stock still, too stunned to put together a plan of action.
She was startled once more as he suddenly pulled himself from beneath her and sat before her, still grinning. Always grinning. His question sparked a bit of defensiveness in her and she flicked her ears back, drawing her head up to look down at him. "Of course I remember. Obviously I remember. You saw my little... stroke-thing back there. She paused and dropped her head, ears flipping forward to study him.
With an intense gaze locked on his face she murmured quietly, "You were my monster. The dancing monster that wasn't a demon, or an angel. I remember. But the real question is why are you back now, after being no more than a dream for so long?"
The creature nodded. So long
But her question brought him back to reality, and he stood again, creeping closer to face her. "You always had those...those other...living ones...around you. They wouldn't have understood. They wouldn't have understood me, no."
He pins one ear back, listening to the ambient sounds of the world, but one forward, intently fixed on her voice. "I am back because you are alone, because you are quiet and needing company, am I wrong?"
Taking another step to close the distance between them, he lays his head down on the doe's back and gently nuzzles her shoulder, purring quietly and deeply in his chest. This moment lasts a second longer than his usual trains of thought do, but then breaks apart just as abruptly as all other conversation topics end.
Circling behind her, he performs a quick figure-eight in the dirt by a series of small, fox-like pounces, entirely incapable of holding a thought for more than a mere matter of seconds. His actions digress and his eyes settle kindly back onto the hind as if he never broke contact with her.
His lips curl in to a small, kinder, yet confident smile. "Why are you so worried, darling? Did you miss me?"

"Living ones," the doe repeated, eyes narrowed. "You say that as if you aren't living yourself." She paused again and titled her head regarding him with a quizzical expression. Suddenly a grin split across her face. "Then again I shouldn't be surprised, should I? Monster." She states it playfully, as if she is proud of herself. She didn't doubt his truthfulness. He certainly wasn't a deer, so monster it was. Monsters are the most fun after all.
"You know the only 'living one' who would have protested you was my mother and she is no longer a living one. My dad... Well. He's not enough of a living one to care." She smiles bitterly.
"I was alone. Nobody for me to look after right now, anyway." She shrugs. "Perhaps I should have ditched the 'living ones' sooner. This is much more interesting than nipping up my brother's messes." She smiled dangerously and considered him. Eve didn't mean it of course. Her charges would always come first, but she wanted to see how the monster responded to flattery.
She gasped and tensed as the spirit placed its head on her shoulders. The contact was welcome, if surprising. The sharp contrast of his cool skin to the heat of summer made a pleased sound tumble unbidden from her throat.
As quickly as the contact began is was ended and Eve found herself oddly disappointed. She hugged and turned to follow his movement. The odd actions of the stag made her grin in a befuddled way. As if she didn't know quite what to make of him. With an abrupt, barking laugh she asked, "Who says I'm worried? I'm not lost anymore monster. I can handle myself without your helping hoof." His second question caught her off guard however, and she narrowed her eyes before she deflected it with another question of her own. "How can I miss you if I don't even know your name?"
"Living?" He almost scoffed
"Do you see anything behind these eyes? No. There's no soul, no entity. You would all call me...a ghost, I suppose. But I was not created by some mortal creature offering their soul to the underworld, no..." He gets distracted, here, and trails off. "I'm not quite sure where I came from, really...but I suppose that doesn't matter."
Her laughter, her confidence, it all gave power to his own ego, but he wasn't convinced he had won her over just yet. She was his, of course, that was decided long ago. But her reaction now gave him reason to think she would willingly belong to the stag.
He countered her authoritative tone of voice with mention of her father. "Hn. I know Emdeaur, yes. He's so terribly buried in his own mind it's hard to drag him out long enough to concentrate on something." The white shakes his head slowly. "It's not his fault, really. He's just been broken so many times it's hard to always put the pieces back together again. You tend to...heh. Forget where they go."
Breaking this thought without giving Evelys time to respond to it, he read her body language, the kinesthetic magnetization of her to him. At this he smiled, purred, and made a point to brush a shoulder past her as he circled around her again.
At her question he turned and looked up at the sky, motioning for her to look with him. "Do you miss a good day once it's over? What do you call that? A memory...a moment...a day? No, it's that feeling. But what do you call a feeling? A mix of chemical interactions?"
His knowing information stops there and he shakes his head. "Not everything has a name, my dear. But you see, names don't really matter. I'm your monster, and you are my Eve. My Kitty, with your gold cat eyes, yes..."
Smiling broadly, he takes a few steps away, then turns smoothly and returns. "I am called Behrdaulemause."
"The ghost of no being that
She was surprised by his knowlegde of her father. His words were so accurate they struck a chord in her heart. A wave of melancholy swept over her, accompanied by the usual bitterness. Eve pushed it away with a shake of her head.
The reply she had died on her lips as the stag moves on, giving her no chance to speak. Eve wondered at his knowledge of her, as it was a silent relief to have moved on from that topic so quickly. Then again, perhaps he was just lucky.
As he circled Eve, she stretched her neck back to nip at his flank as her stance relaxed into something almost playful, and her guard lowered ever so slightly. She grinned and snorted at his words, shook her head slightly. "As far as I'm concerned everything needs a name. Although 'Kitty' isn't my favorite. You're the one who curled around my legs like an affectionate house cat. A big one, but still." She giggled and flutterd her eyelashes at him in response to his 'golden cat eyes' comment.
She pursed her lips and considered his name for a moment before giving a decisive head shake. "That's quite a mouthful. Too much for this mouth anyway. If I am your Kitty, then you are my Monster. That's how I have always thought if you, and that's how you'll stay." Eve smiled, pleased with her own spontaneous decision and flicked her tail happily.
Then, with an indecipherable grin, she gracefully, swiftly lowers herself to the ground. "Sit. You're making me dizzy with so much circling. Surely you've examined me thoroughly by now?"

"Of course not. Being a contradiction has its perks now and then, dear." He grinned and swiveled his ears around.
The small bite delivered by the doe caused predatory instincts to swim through the stag's blood, but he silenced them, casting a small glare at her as he walked past. "You don't like it? I thought it was quite clever...what would work better? Fluffy? Little-Horn? Blue?" He was surely mocking her, now, but laughed at it all the same.
"Monster. I suppose it is fitting, yes. Call something what it is, no?" He nodded and watched her sit down. At her phrase, "you've examined me thoroughly", his ears went back against his neck, and if he was capable of blushing, he would have. "Oh now, darling, don't try and say everybody doesn't watch you, anyway. You're a gorgeous little creature. I'm sure you have plenty of...observers..." He tosses a watchful look around him as he says this, hoping his words wern't true. They wern't.
He settles himself down beside her, rolling onto his back, then his side, then against his stomach, front legs folded underneath him. "So tell me, Kitty, how have you been since I've seen you last?" He presses his forehead to her shoulder and nudges gently. "If you're going to make me sit, you at least must entertain my mind with your...many words."

"Kitty is fine," Eve said
She tilted her head up and studied the stag from her position on the ground. His behaviour seemed almost embarrassed and it made a spark of amusement flash across her face. Yet, at his flattering statements her face hardens slightly. "I don't usually... enjoy observers. It tends to end in trouble." She frowned at the memory of Sianna attacking her brother after claiming she would help Eve look after him, to be with her. Then, the more recent recollection of Walter flirting with her only to turn on little Euriea. She found herself scowling and quickly shook her head, hoping the skull she wore would keep most of the emotion from showing. "I have been told I'm beautiful, though." She smirks and shakes her head in an exasperated manner. "I usually ignore. Better to be strong than pretty. I don't have to be pretty to take care of myself."
Eve laughed at his reasoning and turned her gaze out towards the ruins, lips pursed. "I've lost family, I've gained family. I have a little brother, taller than me now, and a baby cousin. My charges. I've also been betrayed and gotten myself some enemies, but I've made friends as well. A few, at least." Eve sighed, looked down at her hooves, crossed in front of her.
"What I'm saying is that I've lived. I'm still living. It's what I do best." She huffed at herself and turned to look at the ghost. "You're... un-life? Experiences. Your experiences have got to be more exciting than mine. Tell me. Where have you been?"
"Hehe...then Kitty it is," He
Her voice caught his attention again and he was back in reality, eyes bright and ears up, listening to the doe. "Trouble...? What sort of trouble, dear? Is there anyone I need to drag the soul of underneath the ground?" He grinned, a slow, dark laugh encompassing his ebony tongue.
The ghost's ears went back at this statement, and he moved in front of her, studying her expression. "Normally I would tell you not to pay any mind to what people say, but they're right. You're quite beautiful. More breathtaking than I remember, actually..." He leaned in to say this, a tender tone encasing his voice, although the subtle hues of seduction slipped from between the syllables of his compliment.
After a second, however, he backed away and tossed his gaze to the ground beside him. "I digress. I am happy for you, making yourself a family and all. I can't say the same for myself, really. I've been here...other places, too." He motions to the ground, implying the underworld, the spirit realm that lay beneath the earth. "The places I've been and things I've seen aren't important in this world. I've met others and walked many sands and watched many stars. The life of one who has no life is not something worth speaking of. To one who doesn't have a day to age, the past is irrelevant."
He smiled, though, and rolled onto his back before Eve, prone and submissive like a small animal. "You're quite striking from all angles, aren't you..."
Eve's ears droop in defeat as
Although his tone makes Eve blush, the doe gives him a skeptical look as his words sink in. "You certainly are fond of flattery aren't you? If you keep it up I might have to bite you. A mischievous smile flits across her face and she reduces the distance between them even more, pulling back her lips to snap her mouth shut with a sharp click.
As he back's away, Eve's sultry expression fades to mild confusion. "Do you mean you can travel between worlds? That's... interesting." Eve contemplates the concept for a moment. Imagining leaving the forest. It sounded... brilliant! Perhaps Behr could take her with him the next time he-
She's shaken out of her thoughts by Behr's excessive flattery. With a snort and a beaming smile she crowed, "That's it!"" Without any warning she leaned down and nipped at his exposed chest, laughing.
The stags ears prick at her
He smiles broader, exposing more of those pearly, luminescent teeth. "Fond of it? I...didn't know I even was. Am I?" Batting his eyelashes at the doe, he digresses into a fit of giggles, his eyes trained and focused on the female, always testing her reactions.
As she grew closer to him, he felt himself pulled, magnetized to her. He grinned at her ferocity, and slowly closed the few more centimeters between them, the side of his nose gently making contact with the doe.
After the moment passed, he answered her question. "Yes, I can. This world and the underworld, darling. Although the underworld is just a vast pool and schism of souls, from the lowliest pigeon that gets caught by a fox, to the mightiest human, two-legged ones." He nods, deciding that was enough to tell the female for now. He didn't want her curious about what it was really like. No place to take such a young hind. No. She would stay here with him.
When the doe bent her neck down to bite the white's chest, he squealed like a kicked rabbit, giggling and flipping over onto his side. He went back at the doe, headbutting her with his forehead playfully. "Why are you so much trouble?"
He teased lightly, then an unseen energy overwhelmed the stag as another psychotic moodswing overtook him. A certain fire behind his glass orbs glowed with interest. He exhaled, then pressed his face to the doe's neck and bit her gently, a few predatory nips of ownership that inclined to her ear. Unable to supress another small giggle, he breathily whispered to the doe, "You've gotten braver, Kitty...hhn...you're not still afraid of me...are you?"
Eve chuckles at his surprise.
She sighs and changes positions, leaning heavily on her right side, back feet splayed out among the indigo flowers. A sharp smile replaces her somber expression at his poor attempts at playing oblivious. "You aren't a very convincing innocent, Monster." Her expression shifts to one of surprise as he initiates the gentle contact, and an unsuppressible shiver makes her neck fur stand on end. A frown creases her face for a moment. You aren't supposed to like this, Eve girl. It's gonna end like all the others. She feels as if she is being pulled in. Just like with Sianna. He was irresistible in a similar way. She wanted him. Yet she also wanted to not want him. All previous experience screamed at her to get out now, to protect her charges.
She shakes her head and these thoughts away as her monster (The monster!) continued to speak. One eyebrow raises out of sight behind her skull as she contemplates him. "So basically, you go on vacations to frolic with the dead... things? I don't even know what a human is." She shakes her head, a laugh bubbling from her throat. "You certainly are exotic. Two-legged creatures. Huh."
His headbutt, it turns out, is the first contact that Eve has had a normal reaction to. She relaxes slightly, the part of her brain that screams she should look out for others before herself calming and quieting, congratulating itself on a job well done. "I'm trouble?" she asks with an easy smile set on her face. However, as soon as the stag's energy changed, Eve was tensing, reading to flee or fight. The first nip to her neck has her torn between lashing out and melting like butter. The only outward sign of her conflict is the twitching of her flank. She sways slightly as he moves higher and gasps slightly at his tone, immediately gritting her teeth so as not to make any move. Eve barely manages to grit out a gasping, "Saying brave is only a kind way of saying stupid. I was never afraid of you." A blatant lie. Even her feelings toward him now were frightening. Very slowly, she unclenches her jaw and leans away from his contact, internal battle still raging.
With a wry smile at the middle distance she growls out, "Things are never simple, are they?"

The white smiled toothily at
"Convincing? Hah. That means you believe it but you're pretending not to." He grins, but notices the expression on her face after the small moment of contact. The magnetic pull was stronger the closer he was to her, and he could sense and read from her that she felt the same way, but there was a conflict, a little jump in her mind that told her not to. That told her this was dangerous. And right she was, to see the danger, but danger tends to be half the fun, no?
His eyes widen and he nods several times in excitement. "Humans are...they don't have fur...they live in big places with trees that aren't trees...but they're shiny and tall and they live in them. They have things that take them places, 'cars', they call them, and they run faster than any creature can...but they're dangerous. Humans. Their world. It's not meant for creatures. Not even meant for me." Shaking his head, he gives Eve's shoulder a small nudge. "But, don't worry about them. Our worlds won't ever meet theirs."
The quiet, hushed sounds the doe squeaked were anything but unencouraging, but the ghost thought better than to let her downright enjoy his presence. Best tempt her and let her come back to him, he thought, then immediately scolded himself for even thinking of overly manipulating the young creature. However, illusion and the works of the mine were what the spirit was well versed in, and manipulating others' consciouses came as easily as the polar moods that plagued the creature's brain.
Her lie, however, was evident, no manipulation necessary. "You wern't...? Why...the terror of not knowing something yet wanting it so badly is a well-known idea. Not saying you're, absolutely enamored with me, but..." He tosses a knowing smile at the blue one - "...that's at least, how I feel. You're...you're different I don't usually..." Syllables crashed hard onto each other as he spoke, rough edges of his speech caused by nervousness. He shifted, slightly, but didn't take his eyes off the doe, trying his best to regain what little composure he still possessed. "...I don't ever feel things. Emotions are for living ones. I am supposed to be...disconnected. Unbridled. Unrefined. Free from these thoughts about 'care' and 'want' that cloud judgement but..." A sigh escapes him; frustrated, anxious.
"No, nothing is simple. Ever. You're different. You shouldn't have the power you do. I shouldn't...I shouldn't have these...emotions these...feelings...to something, anything, to you..."
With every true word he spoke, that magnetic pull grew stronger, and although the doe shied away he found himself there, again, face pressed to the side of her neck.
When he finally silenced himself, he lifed his head and studied the doe's face, her eyes, ears, every muscle that lay taut underneath her fur, the veins that visibly, though faintly, pulsed under her skin.
Grazing the side of his nose against hers, he smiled. "Why would you want things simple, anyway? Things are much more interesting when they're complicated."
He hesitated but a moment, then brought his mouth to the doe's and kissed her, letting the action speak louder than his words ever could.
Eve frowns. Having both has
"They sound... strange. Best to stay away from them. Odd. Shiny trees. Huh." She shakes her head. The monster seemed to know so much. It was somewhat intimidating to her. Other worlds. Too much for her. She flicks her ears uncomfortably.
Eve bristles slightly, upset at having her lie seen through so easily. She narrows her eyes and lifts her head, a practiced, cold mask falls over her face as she stares at him. "You're right. I'm not completely enamored with you. I don't even-" She stops, cut off by his rush of words. She tries to keep herself detached, but she softens at his confessions. Perhaps he was different as well? She is unsure, glad to have pulled away. Feels desperate for a chance to think and sort out her own feelings. When things move this fast, Eve feels as if she is losing control. She feels cornered, and her more feral side is starting to creep to the surface.
At the feel of his touch on her neck, she jerks violently. Her control slips even further as their faces touch and she struggles to keep her lip from curling, eyes widening slightly. She feels manipulated. Manipulated in the same way that she was, still is, in Sianna's presence. "When things are complicated, deer get hurt."
His boldness is ill rewarded. As soon as their lips meet, Eve rips her head away. She stumbles backwards, onto her feet, snorting and huffing. She stomps a hoof, feral. Like a spooked horse. She backs away a few more steps, but doesn't run. Instead, she stays, glaring at him dubiously. Her eyes flick down to her mask, which fell from her face in her haste, where it lay at his hooves. After a moment more of tension, she seems to come back to her senses and her ears press all the way flat against her head.
"What the hell..." She shakes her head, not even sure if she was talking about his actions or her own. She takes one step forward, uncertain, avoiding his eyes. "I nearly hurt you. Just now. Not going to happen again, because you are going to let me get my mask and leave," she states in a clipped voice, still not looking at him.
The ghost felt the change in
The contact was a dare, a risk, and it crashed horribly like a small raven tumbling from its nest. As the doe broke away, so did he, and jumped backwards, skidding and splay-hoofed in the dirt. He couldn't manage eye contact, so he stood there, hunched over, staring at the ground at his side.
His hackles shiver and his ears pin back, almost lazily, as if he was expecting this. "...yeah." His eyes narrow and he turns, silently walking away from her.
Something dark and animalistic creeps up in his throat, however, unsupressable and rogue. He jumps back and closes the distance between the two of them, approaching the doe dangerously close. Pulling his lip into a snarl, he lowers his head defensively and hisses at her, slowly stepping back and circling around her.
This mood fades quickly, though, and his frame looses its rigidity, his head drops and eye contact dismissed. Shaking his head vigorously, he growls to himself and steps backward, breathing heavily.
Turning suddenly, he slams his antlers into an unlucky tree and drags the points of his tines through the bark, leaving shallow gashes in the wood.
"You...hh...you. Just...no..." His tone is hushed, manic, and fast. He looks and smiles at her, a completely dark and crazed expression stretched into his eternal smile. He shakes his head, mumbles to himself, walks in a few tight circles.
"You just...you forget I said anything, okay, Kitty? Hehe...yes. Yes forget I was even...that I was even here, okay? Alright. Best not to...keep things...complicated, right? Yes. Yes."
His ears and fur twitch sporadically, as if little bolts of electricity are running underneath his skin. Completely unsure of what to do or how to properly react, he stands there for a second, breathing sharply, trying to regain any composure he had before.
