History
Roxanne was born in the South, in the state of Georgia. She was raised by her mother, her sire, a pure Thoroughbred race horse, having been auctioned off before she was born. She didn't even spend a whole year with her mother either. Instead, she was taken away from her when she was only four months old, sold to another stable owner. Young and confused without her mother, she had a hard time coping.
When she reached the age of one, they broke her into the saddle, briddle, and the bit. It wasn't a very easy going training either. When it was time to carry another rider, she hated the feeling of another being on her back. At times she refused to go forward, but her owner was strict and harsh. He lashed her with the wip multiple times, forcing her forward as she tried to escape the pain. But it didn't work, because as they ran around the arena, he kept wipping her as hard and as much as he possibly could. She then decided that she had enough, and threw him from her back by rearing up sharply. Her owner punished her for this by confining her to her stall for two days, having little food.
By this time she was starting to grow bitter, and would knaw on the wood of her stall in aggitation and rebellion against him.
Finally, he auctioned her off a year later in Kentucky, and she moved once again to a new owner. This one was no different. When this stable owner found out about her dislike for carrying other riders, he partnered her with another horse, and their job was to pull a carriage. Roxanne found this job boring, and would start chewing at what straps she could reach on her body just to entertain herself. When her owner found out about this, he put the overcheck reins on her and her partner, forcing their heads up. This angered her, as she wasn't allowed to move her head, causing her neck to cramp up and discomfort in her back. The sixth time they had to do this, she rebeled by kicking the carriage several times, eventually knocking it over.
Again she was taken to another auction in Indiana, as bitter a horse as ever. Every person that came to inspect her, she would lower her ears and glare at them, swishing her tail as if shooing away a pesky fly. However, a 22 year old man and his father came to inspect her, and they didn't retreat like the others did. "She's got spirit..and a hard life," the boy's father said. The boy said nothing, instead he just looked into her hard eyes, with his own soft blue ones. His father threw in a bet for her, and ended up winning.
They took her home, back to their ranch. They had a couple other horses, as well as a chicken coop. She was let out in the pasture, where she could run freely and rest in the fresh air. The next day, the boy came out with a lead rope, and lead her back into the stables. There, he approached her with a bridle and saddle, which she met with lowered ears. However, she let him proceed, and walked forward at his firm, but friendly command. He walked her to a trail head, where she stopped to take in her surroundings. They were surrounded by mountains, the trail itself surrounded by autumn laid trees, leaves falling all around them. With the boy's, William's, command, she started out slow, and then gradually sped up, until they were flying down the trail, millions of colors whirling past them. For once in her life, Roxanne had felt alive.
They stopped by a pond, and William let her graze for a while, while he read a book of his before heading back. This became a thing of their's. Take a run through the woods, and stop at the pond for some relaxation. They would lay underneath the willow trees, William leaning against her back with a book in his hands.
This was also where she met her mate, "Big" Red. She was wary of him at first, her temper sometimes resurfacing, but he wasn't the least bit intimidated. Instead he would relply with a smirk. He knew what she was all about. He was someone who completely understood her. They grew closer, forming a bond with one another, and soon Rox became pregnant.
She spent a good two, peaceful and happy years here...before the war started.
William was called away to serve in the Civil War in 1861, his father having grown ill. Unable to be looked after, Roxanne and Red had to find a new owner, much to their displeasure.
This time, it was an even more drastic change. This time, they were being sold where war raged on and on. She would've been with William still, only his father didn't want him to enlist in the Union Calvary where he would become an easy target on top of a horse. And so, Roxy and Will had to go their separate ways.
She and Red were put in the same regiment, and partook in several battles, two of which she'll never forget, and will haunt her for the rest of her life.
In the year 1863, the Battle of Gettysburg would take place. In the first battle, on July 1, Roxanne suffered a horrible loss. Her owners had no way of knowing she was pregnant at the time, and so, she was taking her foal out onto the battle field. Her and Red ran forward together, but were eventually separated. When she had spotted him again, he was falling to a bullet wound in the head. She was about to go down to him, but a stray bullet caught her in the stomach area, where, inevitably, her womb was. After that, she retreated to the sidelines, where someone eventually led her back to camp.
Her life had grown black. No one left that she cared for. She was alone again, just like when she was taken from her mother ten years ago. She stood, subdued, underneath a juniper tree in the dusk light, the strength drawn out of her. That is, until a familiar face appeared. Her ears perked up and she whinnied at the boy who was walking toward her, a broad smile on his face. Despite his new navy blue, Union uniform, she distinctly remembered him. "How are ya girl?" Will said, patting her head and holding it in his arms. Rox closed her eyes at his embrace, rejoicing in their reunion. Just like old times, he had a book with him, and laid next to her underneath the tree, the setting sun behind them. They fell asleep like that, and spent the morning lazing underneath the tree again before Will was being called off. He hugged her head close and kissed her on the forehead. "I'll see ya Rox." She stood there, watching his form shrink in the distance until he was out of sight. That was the last time she ever saw him.
The third day would be the last she ever saw sunlight. As ususal, the battle raged on, and her rider was killed. Now without a rider, she figured it was time to escape, to get out of that hell hole. However, her keen ears picked up the whistling of a cannon ball through the air, but had no idea where it would land. The last thing she saw was the log in front of her exploding into a million fragments, and faintly felt discomfort in her chest area before everything went black.
At first, when she's spent a few years in The Endless Forest, she isolated herself, not understanding why her familiars weren't here with her. Now that she's opened up more, it may be because she's getting a second chance at life..a life she never had. But not a day goes by, where she doesn't remember those who were close to her heart.
Random Facts
-Has a horse figurine that looks exactly like she use to; brown body, dark brown mane, tail, and legs from the knee down. Doesn't know where it came from (unaware that it came from Iugulare). Keeps it close to her, or stored within the rocks/stones at the Ruins.
-Trots, canters, and gallops like a horse. Not as graceful as a deer. Makes her look more stag-like.
-Goes on frequent runs through the forest, exercising. Mainly goes to the birch to use the stones there as hurdles.
-Has a certain spot at the Ruins that she's designated as 'her spot'. Located on the longest wall there next to the graves. Each of the three graves signifies a loved one she lost in her past life; the one on our right is her foal, the one on our left is her mate, and in the middle are all the caring, affectinate owners she's had.
Behavior
Being a horse in her past life, a few of her instinctual habits carried over.
-Bobbing head: represented by the 'nod yes' emote, sometimes also taunt+nod. Expresses excitement.
-Snorting/blowing nose: shaking head rapidly (after listening). Horses will do this as a sign of contentment, or simply to get something out of their noses.
^That's at any random time. More frequent in a fight, when she's showing irritation.
-Rearing: rear, taunt, nod emotes. Half rearing during play expresses excitement. During a fight it expresses discomfort/anger (rear+taunt).
-Hoof lash: rear+lower antlers. Striking out with her forehooves during a fight. ^Can also be rear+taunt.
-Back legs: bow+surprised. Striking out with her back legs.
-Grazing: bow, nod, shake head no emotes all at once. Will graze more often in the birch.
Relations
Family:
[Hover]
Awentia Adopted daughter, adores, cherishes. Is very protective of her, because even though she's not biological, Rox is afraid of losing yet another child. Awen is the only deer at the moment who Roxy will show her soft side to. Would defend with her life.
Partners (Friends):
Donnovan A close friend. Loves being around the stag, sparring, teasing, and romping in general. Intrigued by what little past he told her of, that they come from the same country, close to the same time period; the only deer she's met so far who comes from her home. Finds herself watching for him in case he makes his appearance. Will leap to his side during a fight in a heartbeat, and would defend with her life if he needed it. Is the second stag/deer who she has spoken of her past to. Because of this, and despite herself, has found herself growing closer to him.
Allison Has grown close to the kind-hearted doe, her timidness reminding her of how her adopted daughter use to be. Will look after the mini doe, shielding her from danger along with the rest of the gang. Is always willing to give advice to her whenever she comes running, though is concerned about all the events she's had to endure as of late.
Veil Doesn't know much about her, but knows that she's a friend. Would eventually like to get to know more.
Jade Missing. Was a cherished friend; misses dearly.
Westley The only other deer that she told her past to. Was a very close friend. Misses him dearly.
Capulet Saw him as a son; doesn't know where he's gone. Misses dearly.
Lucille Saw the vixen hybrid as a daughter figure; along with Cap, she doesn't know the where abouts of the crimson doe. Misses dearly.
Aquaintances:
Os (Poseidon) Has met him more than once, though still not fully sure what to make of him. A recent conversation had some flaws that made her flare up toward him, though will remain welcoming if he will still continue to seek her out. Still curious of despite his views.
Syria Curious of the fossa and cervine hybrid, has been approached by more than once. Was there to help watch over Awentia with Roxy. Would like to get to know more.
Johan Curious of, has been approached by him more than once, always with Syria.

~
The young doe trembled infront of the antlered doe. Memories flashed in her head, and she didn't understand them yet.
"H-hello." She stammered to the doe, her eyes big like a frightened fawn. She wasn't usually like this, she was usually hyper and energenic.
[Not at all! I'm actually
The brown doe looked down at the mini, inwardly frustrated by this groveling. Hadn't she already seen this behavior once today? Besides, what was so intimidating about her? This mini's never even spoken to her before now, so how could she know what her personality was like? And, most peculiarly, if she's so shook up by her, why did she even approach in the first place?
"Stop actin' like that. Yer behavin' as if ya just saw a ghost or somethin'." Roxanne stooped down to lay right in front of the mini, now at the other's eye level. She didn't feel like tolerating with another submissive deer, and she surely didn't want to be treated like that behemoth of a wolf.
She didn't act right away, just looked into those wide, frightened eyes. Curiosity was her strongest emotion now, replacing frustration, moving it to the back of her mind. Now she wanted to know why she was here.
"So..why are ya actin' like this? And why even approach if yer apparantly intimidated by me? Makes more sense tah run the other way, right?" Her face was expressionless, more serious like, as she waited for the other to answer.
The young doe cocked her
Willow twitched her ear as the brown doe spoke. "I'm acting this way because-" she paused for a moment, "I actually don't know why I'm acting this way." She said, shaking her head. "I saw a fight, and I got frightened, I don't like voilence. I came to you because I wanted to be by a deer I felt safe with, and since you weren't acting violent in anyway, I felt I could stay by you." She paused, shaking her head once more. She waited to see how the antlered doe would respond.
Roxanne didn't say anything.
"Well, unless you were a certain golden stag I would've behaved differently..but since yer not, I don't have any problem with yer company," she said, her tone growing softer as she spoke. The antlered doe situated herself in a more comfortable position among the flowers, relaxing her ears, which had been errected toward the mini, to where they were perpindicular with her head.
"So, what's yer name?"
Willow smiled as the antlered
She twitched her ears forward as she spoke. "My name is Willow," she spoke, feeling much more relaxed with another deer around, "after a Willow tree. Not sure how I got it, but I'm comfortable with the name." she spoke, nodding a bit.
The young doe looked up at her, "What's yours?" She asked curiously.
The brown nodded, agreeing
"Roxanne," she stated simply. Her mind was still on this other doe's forgetfulness...or was it forgetfulness? A close friend of her's had the same problem, at least a month back. Could this doe also have a past she didn't remember, just like Westley? Perhaps it was time to do a little digging.
"So, why are ya so afraid of violence? Some deer would love tah see some action, others would just shrug it off." There had to be a ligitimate reason, or else Willow would know why she behaved that way. Roxanne herself didn't know why she was so curious about it...perhaps because her closest friend had the same problem, or she just liked playing detective.
Willow's brow furrowed. "I
She looked back down at the flowers she was sitting.
Roxanne also looked down,
"So, ya don't remember anythin'? Not even how ya got yer name? ...Well, it sounds like ya had a past life, outside the forest, if yer young and have the name Willow, like the willow trees by the pond..and if ya don't remember anythin'. I knew a doe who didn't remember anythin' outside the forest, so yer probably in the same position." Complicated, utterly complicated, but at least this wasn't unfamiliar to the brown doe..

Hello Roxanne, its Artax,

Noticing her caution he
Roxanne narrowed her eyes
"Heh, you and me both partner..not really the social type with all these deer." Though she had made friends here, they either didn't wish for continued contact or they were gone..mostly the latter. Seems her life had an act for that, tossing away those that were close to her. However, angst aside, her attention was turned back to Artax.
"Nah, you can stay if ya want, I really don't mind in the slightest." She situated herself in a more comfortable sitting position on 'her' wall, finalizing that she wasn't moving, and that he was free to sit if he desired.
"Thank you." Artax smiled and
An ear cocked toward the
"Heh, that is the question isn't it..one I can't answer. Besides, humans do a lot of things I don't understand..but I've learned tah just not care anymore," she scoffed, those visions of her past life seeping their way into her conscious mind..well, better than when she's unconscious, because now she can actually control what she's thinking about. Roxanne quickly pushed those thoughts behind her mental barrier, and locked them away..but she knew they'd escape again.
"hmm." He looked down

An ear cocked toward Artax, Roxanne having forgotten that he was still there for a moment. "Hmm, alive..life...how d'ya know this isn't an afterlife, hm? ...Purpose, ya say. Heh, well, you just keep looking for that purpose, and tell me when ya find it." She was dead. She knew she was dead. She knew, when she saw the cannon blast, and part of a log lodging itself in her chest, that she was dead. What purpose did she have now? Her purpose in life was gone, swallowed up, by the hell of war.
Dina: Hehe haaaai! c8 <3

Though is anger was hot and he had a short temper that had to be held back immensely, he would never hurt another deer severely. A shoving them to the ground, throwing them into the water, or pinning them to a tree worked 98% of the time. Only in times of great need or if the deer is intent of continuing his bad ways would he actually cause harm to them never to kill of coarse.
(Agh sorry, had gotten
"Heh, well, I guess this must be hell then..at least for me." Although, it wasn't entirely true. She had made friends here, and right now two good friends of her's are fawns. Two very sweet fawns. However, if she had been reincarnated, or if this was an afterlife, what happened to...them? Why weren't they here with her? This thought always stumped her, and it wasn't a good one to dwell on anyway, so she pushed it to the back of her mind.
"Hmm, get use tah it, is all I have tah say. Ya ain't neva gonna find a more suitable place...there'll always be dumb bastards whereva ya wind up at." Half hearted laughter escaped her muzzle, followed by a smirk. Some beings would just remain stupid for all eternity, and it amused her, their lack of common sense.
(no problem at all Nice new
Artax smiled at her comment "Very true...sorry about my harshness...I just..." His ear suddenly flipped back he was just about to turn his head when...
{{SMACK}}
Artax was shoved forward my a small female fawn. He stood occwardly, shook his head and turned to face the fawn slightly embarrassed.
"HIIII!!" She bounced and twirled around. "I knew I'd find you here! I guessed right!!" She Pranced forward and snuggled the large Buck. "Nice to see you again big brother."
"Its only been two weeks sense you took of, and I told you I was coming here" Artax tilted his head.
"Yea well....I uh....I was bored...So yah!" She put her head down and pelted. Then suddenly jumped up noticing the doe. "Whoa! Who are you!?"
"Manners..."Artax whispered.
"Oh right..." She stuck her tongue out at Artax, who had an annoyed about little sister look, then turned to the doe. "Hello I am Altibo, Who mighty you be?" She bowed and had slight trouble standing again because of her long thin legs. She was thin and delicate looking for a five month old but her eyes showed determination and strength....She stared waiting for an answer.
Very nice! ♥
Edit: DERP! nvm xD
[Thank you!
Roxanne was about to say "Don't worry about it", but her words remained unspoken when something crashed into the stag. She jumped to her feet with her ears pinned back, snorting in surprise. However, she remained there looking down at the fawn, feeling a bit stupid for her actions. Life's made her paranoid it seems. The brown doe simply looked on as they conversed among each other, and watched as the fawn pelted her brother in mild amusement. A smile made its way across her muzzle as the young fawn stuck her tongue out at her brother before she answered.
"Roxanne...you've got spirit," she said, meaning it as a compliment. The antlered doe bent her head toward Altibo a little, saying in a lower, but audible voice, "Just make sure tah keep that between yer brother and close friends though, heheh." Amusement was apparant on her face. Roxy's always had a special place for fawns, or any baby animals, in her heart ever since she arrived here, and this free spirited fawn was no different.
Hooran: ;3; Thank you! <3
PMR: ROFL okee xD
Altibo tilted her head. "Uh
"And what if I don't find some one?" Artax teased with one eye brow lifted his eyes showed slight pain but he hid it for young Altibo's sake.
"Well...then you will be stuck as big brother!" She lowered her head and taunted him to play fight.
They both then started to play fight, of coarse Artax being really gentle.
[Gah, sorry again, my muse
The brown doe didn't say anything to that, for her throat felt like it had a stone lodged within it. So, an orphan...the complete opposite of....She stopped her thoughts there, turning her head away from the two, staying subtle about it as she bent to scratch a non-existant itch on a foreleg. She barely heard Artax's words, and had to force back a snort. Finding a soul mate only brought pain..needless pain. Why go through that? Then again, the stag probably never did..he probably wouldn't understand.
When they began to play fight with each other, Roxanne shook her head like a horse shaking its mane, then laid down on her wall again, watching them in silence. Normally she watched playful fawns in amusement, but now she only felt sympathy and pain. She thought she had escaped war for good, that it was gone from her life now...but it only raged inside her in a continuous on-slaught of emotions, never letting up.
(( Oh no worries I get
Artax lifted his head and turned towards The doe, causing the small fawn to run into his chest abruptly.
"Ouf!!" Altibo shook her head. "Hay! No fair your WAY bigger than me!"
The stag stared down at her half smiling with amusement. "I'm a bit tired, may we continue this later?"
"Eh...awww..." The fawn pouted.
The stag suddenly lifted his head stood tall in alert, his ears swiveling back and forth holding a position then swivling again, his eyes closed. Years of solitude and self training his senses were fare more sensitive then the normal deer.
He looked quite noble and powerful as he stood in the bright sun. "There is a group of 6 fawns at the pond if you want to play." He opened his eyes again and looked down at the tiny fawn who looked at him amazed.
She then jumped up her front knees on Artax's chest. "HOW DO YOU DO THAT!!!???"
Artax stepped back making the fawn stand on her own again. "I keep trying to teach you but you get too anxious and run off all the time...sigh...maybe when your older." He then pushed the fawn in there direction of the pond with his head. "Better go now before those fawns run off on you."
"Oh right!" The fawn immediately turned a booked it, her this legs moving as fast as possible.
Artax waited till the fawn was out of sight before he turned back to Roxanne.
He half smiled sheepishly. "Must be strange to see a stag raising a fawn huh?" He then laid down in the sun a few meters in front of the doe, his jet black coat shining brilliantly. "I can't help it though..." He closed his eyes there was a look of serenity on his face. "When I care for her a feel as if I'm helping my self...I was orphaned as well...they took away...every one...so I...." He shook his head. " Forgive me, I'm rambling on aimlessly." He turned his head his ears swiveling again, he was obviously keeping "watch" on Altibo.
((Oh and I thought I would send this to you Altibo decided to take a nap beside you one day I though it was cute))
[Aww that's adorable! cB
Roxanne barely noticed the exchange between the fawn and her adoptive brother, so seeing her charge off took her by surprise. The brown doe turned her head to face Artax, her eyes indifferent as their lids slid down slightly, feeling lethargic from sitting so long. Her auds just caught the sound of his voice when he spoke toward her again.
"Hm? Oh..no, not at all...There's been others who have done the same." She tucked her forelegs under her body more, making herself comfortable before resting her head on the cool stone, her eyes staring into space as an aud cocked toward the sound of his voice again.
"...Perhaps it's best if we dun dwell on the past...ain't gonna do us a nick 'o good, now is it? Nothin' we can do 'bout it anyway.." Roxy was one to talk, as the past managed to seep into her mind at random intervals, and when it did, it was hard to close the gate and lock them away again. But, it was possible; one just needed practice...a lot of it. She closed her eyes, though it seemed her mind wasn't ready for sleep yet. Instead, she left one ear leaning in his direction in case he decided to say more.
Sensing Roxanne's fatigue
His white clouded eyes stared but only darkness they saw. He grew up seeing only this plane clouded darkness, he knew no different and needed no different. He chuckled slightly...
The world judged and saw only what they wanted not what they needed...it took what it wanted, not what it needed and only gave back its own waist. His eyes, his so called handicap, however let him "see" the truth in others, he could see who another was before they even talked or came near. Their breathing, movement, and their energy told all. Though they may be a good actor the quiet voice of the sub-cautious speaks clearly and loudly if one truly listens...He sighed.
(Hope you don't mind ^^) The
The light pitter patter of the small blue does hoof beats sounded lighty as she drew near the looming ruins. Her heart beating excitedly, and anxiously.Over the past few months she had felt herself black out.She knew she had been somewhere...But being back in here in this forest must have dulled her previous memory of wherever she had been.
The does head rose slightly and her eyes widened to see the familiar shape of her adopted mother laying on her usual wall.Eagerly, she moved forward to greet her.Wondering about the firey does reaction.
[Not at all! 8D] The brown
The brown doe lay on 'her' wall, the horse figurine that had, without any knowledge of it, been given to her for Christmas was between her forelegs. It looked just as she had before coming here...before that fatal incident with a cannon ball. She stared at the figurine of herself, moving it to different angles. So much has happened in her life, so many losses. Everyone was gone in her previous life..and now, there were others that are now gone out of this one, including her adopted daughter. How foolish she was to believe she could ever have another family. Everyone she grew close to vanished from her life. It was negative to dwell on, and it made her sick to her stomach. How tired she's grown of it all.
Her tired eyes never left the figure of herself, but her ears detected something approaching. They cocked in the direction from which the noise immenated. Out of curiosity, she raised her head an inch or so, eyes narrowed as they too looked up. It was a few seconds before she fully comprehended the figure coming toward her. It couldn't be, could it? After all these months?
The horse figure came to rest as it lay on the wall, Roxanne having gotten slowly to her feet. Her eyes were wide, mouth open slightly in disbelief. Without taking her eyes off the smaller doe, she jumped off the wall, taking a tentative step forward. Was she hallucinating, seeing things she only wanted to see? But still she kept moving forward.
"..A...Awentia?"
Awentia stopped as the horse
"Yes...It's me...It's me mother.I've come home." Her voice cracked a little.Realizing how much she missed Roxannes presence. But would the fiesty doe still accept her? After all these months?
She heard of other deer cutting ties after they had been gone awhile...Did Rox still refer to her as a daughter?
Awentia stepped forward tentetivly, her head bent low as the submissive doe she was.
(Oh,another thing.May I add you on MSN again? I had to change emails and i'm trying to get everybody I know that was on my previous friends list ^^)
( -butts in.- I'd love to add
[Of course! I've missed
The older doe took a couple more tentative steps forward, never taking her eyes off the smaller doe. Her ears grasped at the words that came from the other's mouth, turning them over and over in her mind. Could they be true? Was it true? Was her adopted daughter truely back? She seemed real enough....Her words rang in Roxanne's mind, over and over, until a spark ignited inside her. Without warning, the older doe sprang forward, desperate to close the distance between her and her daughter. When there was nothing left between them, she would reach out with her head in an attempt to wrap her neck around Awentia, holding her close.
"Awentia..my daughter..ya came...ya came back!" Roxy squeezed her eyes shut as she felt them moisten. She hated weakness, and crying was one of them. But even this strong willed, hard shelled doe couldn't keep the tears from streaming out of her eyes, no matter how hard she kept them sealed. For the first time in a long time, she let the pain and sorrow out, letting relief and joy push itself in.
Awentia took a step back as
The antlered does neck wrapped around hers, and Awentia could'nt resist pressing her face into her adoptive mothers brown fur.Her familar scent reminded here that she was home...At last.
"I have mother.I've returned." She repeated, her emotions starting to flood with relief that Roxanne still considered her a daughter, and the thought of being here again.
"I've missed you so much,i'll never leave again, never!" She choked on the last word, her cerulean blue eyes seeping tears of her own.
(yay for emotional reuinons <3 Oh,sweetness 8D I've missed talking to all of you too.Aww,Dina,i'd love to talk to you too <3 Mine is )
tracking, as I often see her
Thank you so much! Oh yes, I
It was nice to sit with
