Plague's paws brushed softly against the ground as she approached the familiar figure in front of her from behind, ears softly pulled back against her head, feeling very unsure if she was even doing the right thing. The creature had been watching her friend from afar, watching his steady decline from cheerful, to once again something close to misery. For as long as she could remember, she could only admire the stag from a distance, but not now. Not the one time she felt he could use something, or someone, to talk to.

"...Crucio. My king. Are you alright?"

With the thick fog of earlier

With the thick fog of earlier days gone, the moisture was slowly being pulled from the ground by dry sunlight. Normally, the sight of the extravagant flowers that had bloomed in the wake of warmer weather would have cheered the reaper, but not today, nor yesterday. Both eyes, heavy lidded as they may be, remained distant and out of focus. He had remained at Umay's tree almost exclusively while his wounds healed, and today was no different.

The stag lifted his head as the sound of gentle steps caught his attention. Both ears swiveled back, and then quite quickly, he glanced over his shoulder at the canine-like figure approaching. Plague. A flurry of mixed emotions burned in his chest.

"Where have you been?" Her question was disregarded. A moment of tension flickered in Crucio's eyes, then faded, the rare and dwindling fire that was burning out in his spirit. Relaxation, indifference, and a lack of care set itself down in place of what was being lost. With a gentle huff, he brought his head back around to rest across the limbs folded beneath his chest where he lay.

"Sit with me."

The chimera sighed softly at his question, unable to shake the feeling of shame building inside her. She knew very well she had been gone for quite a bit of time, but the consequences never quite settled in until now. Her eyes avoided his as she thought, wishing she could lie and say she was busy...but who was she kidding, they both knew the truth.

"Around. I suppose I figured... Mmph. It doesn't matter." With a few more steps she was next to him, carefully laying herself down next to the stag. Her head stayed upright, examining his figure before letting her gaze rest upon him once more, a paw shyly making it's way to brush softly against his fur.

"I'm here now. I don't plan on leaving again...not after seeing you like this." She'd finally lower her head to rest close to his, "What's ailing you?"

Jaws parted in a wide yawn,

Jaws parted in a wide yawn, teeth bared as his lips pulled themselves back; ended in a heavy sigh, in which his facial features relaxed once again. His eyes slid shut, and gently, calmly, he swayed from side to side ever so slightly. The effort put forth moments earlier had split a few of the heavy gashes across his throat; they began to bleed, and the air stung at the wounded, exposed skin. The stag grimaced slightly, more so in irritation than pain.

"I hope you mean that, Plague. You've told me this before." And then you vanished without a trace. A subtle frown; he valued her company, she was important to him, so not only did he miss her in her absence but he worried about her as well.

"I don't know." He lies through his teeth, or, does he? Even he isn't sure of that. Perhaps he has a small flicker of knowledge, too scant to go on, too miniscule to put faith in. Either way, a rough, quiet little chuckle rumbles around in the back of his throat.

"As per usual, many things, and nothing at all."

"I know, I know...I'm sorry.

"I know, I know...I'm sorry. I can never seem to find a time to see you without /someone/ who hates me trying to slit my throat open more than it already is." She grumbled with irritation, not directed at him, but the situation. She had to admit...she hated this place. She hated most of it's inhabitants and most of it's scenery, but she always found herself coming back. For Crucio, if no one else, she had to. Her eyes finally spotted the wounds on his neck, carefully moving closer to lick softly at them, doing her best to ease whatever pain they may be causing.

"I wish I didn't have to leave you all the time." She continued cleaning his wounds, the creature's long tail curling around to wrap around the stag, in a vain effort to hold him, "I just can't stand causing you so much pain every time I'm around. Even if it isn't my fault."

He winces at the sting of contact against his open wounds. Both ears flatten against the back of his neck, and for a moment, the fur along his spine and nape bristle. Once he's become more accustomed to the sharp pains, he relaxes again.

"I don't know what to do. I can't make them like you, or tolerate you if they feel a certain way. I wish they would, but I can't change their opinions." Disappointment more than anything else washes over him at the thought. At times like this, they needed all the company they could get. Yet, he was just as picky, he'd be a hypocrite to say otherwise.

A quaint little smile tugs at the corners of his mouth briefly.

"It's good to see you again. I've missed you."

She nodded gently with a soft sigh, a small yet genuine smile colors her face as she would carefully rest her head on top of his neck, a quiet and pleased purr vibrating through her chest,"If I had a choice, I'd hardly leave your side.I don't think I could ever tell you just how dearly I love your company, Crucio."

Her nose carefully brushed through his fur, grooming him lovingly as they sat, listening to the ambient sounds of the forest, letting herself live in the moment, "I wouldn't worry too much about the others. I made a mistake...at least in their eyes." A soft blush colored the skin under her fur as she spoke, closing her eyes and she nuzzled closer to his body "and oh, how I've missed you too.."

Ugh really? ;___; crap, alright. I'll try lightening it up a shade.

edit; is that better? Sorry if anyone had issues seeing it before ;; though, it seems pretty bright for me now. If I can afford to darken it at all I'd like to.
