At the last one- Uh... Those ears o-o lovelovelove... I feel like I might have asked ya this before (which I probably have, and if I did, I'm sorry), but are you a sort of professional mouse breeder? If so, then you are awesome. If not, then you are awesome for commiting yourself to so many adorable mousies @-@
I wouldn't say professional, but I try. xD
Thank yo uso much for the compliments! I don't take credit for these guys, since they came from another breeder, but I'm hoping to breed them into bigger ears, and longer tails. Their tails are just long enough to be considered good quality, but I'd like them to be a bit longer. (:
Their tails are SUPER thick though, and I love that! My other fuzzies have thin, but very long tails. So hopefully, crossing them, will help.
My other line of fuzzies also has HUGE ears. . . So that will be interesting. xD
Their ears are bigger than these guys's ears.
In case anyone is curious. . .
The standards for ears are that they should be as large as possible, and tulip shaped, with no creased.
The standard for tails are that they should be longer than the mouse's body, thick, and taper smoothly from the mouse's body.
Body should be long and muscular.
Eyes should be bold
Head should be broad, and proportionate.
Here's a picture, of a comparison of a show mouse, and an ordinary pet mouse:
They are the same age, just from different lines. You can see the big differences!
Oh wow xD I would not have the patience for that sort of thing x3 Seriously.
But I can see how the results of it all can be satisfying :3 Is there any sort of standard for the pelt? Or does that not really matter? *killed for questions*
Well yes. The fur should always be clean, and consistently cover the whole mouse, no patches or bald spots.
But it's different for each type of fur. These guys in the pictures, are fuzzies, so they have short, curly hair. They can also have long, kinky hair, which is perfectly fine too, as long as it is consistent. (:
Rexes, should have as much curl as possible, and have nice, thick fur, and curly whiskers.
Standard coats, should be smooth, and have solid colours. (:
Satins should be smooth, and as shiny and reflective as possible.
Hairless should be . . . Well. . . Hairless. xD
And should have no fur, including eyelashes.
There's also angora (long haired), Texel (long haired rex), about 10 different types of fuzzy, caracul (which is pretty much the same as rex), Abysinian (which have swirls of fur on their hips, very interesting, and rare in the US). . . I'm sure I'm leaving something out. xD;
Wow... Okay, my curiosity has been satisfied xD I'll stop being a creeper, now. Thank ye for dealing with me. I learned some new things today! 8D *happy dance*
That just looks rather silly to me, but it seems like it would be a pain to breed xD I didn't think that there was this much that went into it.... o-o I must research...
the fluzzy! *pets the little
