My new African Soft furred rats. (:

HEY ARE SO SWEET! AIEEEEE. Laughing out loud
I'm in love with them, really, hahah.

(Also, these are available for sale on the east coast. In October, I am running up to PA. I live in VA, so if you live in VA, MD, DC, or PA, and would like to buy one, let me know! Or, if you live in northern NC, I'm about 2 hours from the border.)

They all loooove cheek and ear rubs, and all are really handleable. They're nippy, but I haven't gotten tagged yet. They don't like to be scooped up from above, but if you pick them up gently by the tail and plop them in your hand, they like being out. Smiling

Anywho, I have a bunch of shades of agouti, and one diluted one.
I'm hoping to breed the diluted ones, make some solid brown ones, and possibly some BEW ones. :3

I have way to many right now. So if you, or someone you know wants one or two, let me know, cause a bunch are for sale. (:

Yes! They are from Africa.

Yes! They are from Africa. They are also known as Multimamate mice, and Natal rats. (:
They are not domesticated, so they can be a bit bitey. And they jump randomly sometimes!

My roommate had a rat that

My roommate had a rat that looks identical to the rat in the last picture. His name was Dwight . He was like Superman Rat you would be holding him and then suddenly he would take a giant leap of faith and go flying across the room. He'd also bite for no good reason. XD It's interesting that they're an actual breed of rat. The pet store where we purchased Dwight was selling them as "Small Feeder Rats".

All I know is that the last rat puts me laughing for apparently no reason. He looks like a cliche crazy bad guy.

Or a mouse that was just hanged by the tail, spinned around and dropped.

Or both.

They're actually really big

They're actually really big mice, not small rats. Sticking out tongue
They're mainly known as 'Multimammate mice' but also called 'African Soft furred rats' or 'Natal rats'

They do love to jump, and some of them bite for no reason. Lol.
It's mostly because they are not domesticated animals. Sticking out tongue
these guys are pretty tame, and were bred to be pets, but most places do sell them as feeders for picky ball pythons, because they are the most natural prey for them in the wild. (:
