Strangely enough, causing a chuckle to raise from this outlandish creature as it stalks closer, head tilting in small jerks to one side.
zzZZZI am Radio - why are you doing that?ZZZzzz It curiously enquires, nodding nonchalantly in the general direction of his new acquaintance's head.
His eyes narrow in disapproval at the sounds of amusement.
"What's so funny?"
In truth, Dieu hadn't been so sure that this creature could talk, not to mention laugh. Then again, you learn something every day they say. The question caught him by surprise.
Hn? You mean bow? It's a way of acknowledging someone. You've never known it before?
Though the harsh tone of the first words causes timid Radio to back off rather quickly, his shape sinking into the shadows, merging with them, hiding within them until only glowing eyes are seen casting their eerie shine.
zzZZZN-no!... I... I ne... never zaw anyone do it before...ZZZzzz he crackles nervously, the static of his voice mixing in with a high-pitched children's rhyme which snakes rapidly into the background where it stays as Radio's breathing becomes vocalized.
Pity for the frightened creature struck him, but only for a few moments. Why should he feel sorry for one he didn't even know? Perhaps it was because he'd taken the fawn as someone slightly sinister, though that assumption was proven completely false now. Now he just seemed confused, lost. Never seen...everyone bows in the Endless Forest. Or at least the majority...
"You're not from here." he states, sure in his words.
"So where did you come from?
I just have to RP with him for a bit, if that's okay. Bear with me though, it's the first time playing this character and she's not even fully developed yet. I hope this will help form her character a bit! Same goes for her design, since it's not complete I won't go into detail. XD
It was a dark and foggy night. The haunting wind seemed to cut the skin under her crimson-red pelt like a hundred, cold needles and left her breathless everytime it hit her. Even though Autumn was the prelude to her favourite season, the cold made the young, elegant doe shiver and she wished for the sun to chase it away. The doe sighed deeply while taking a stroll through the ghostlike forest, which hadn't lost it's safety, even during these darker days.
Suddenly the wind blew again, causing her to catch a very unfamiliar scent. For a moment she thought it had just been her imagination, or a mix of the different scents the forest held. But it grew stronger every step she took, making her feel nauseous. Eventually she reached the place the scent was coming from. It was scaringly dark and her full concentration was needed to see a tiny shape between the shadows. The white eyes startled her and she backed off a little. Her own bright coloured eyes turning fearful for a moment, until she noticed something. The shape was that of a fawn and fawns were always completely harmless to her. Maybe this fawn had just caught the odd light of a white moon in it's eyes. Slowly she approached the little fawn and sniffed him. The unnatural scent she had smelled before was horribly strong with this fawn. She refused to believe the scent was the fawn's 'own'. Could it have been drenched in something? Something that was certainly not of this world.
''Who are you, little one?'' She spoke, making her voice sound as soft and gentle as she could. And she could.
(Emerald) Silence followed as the fawn shook his head, apparent by the way the light of his eyes drew lines in the air.
zzzZZZThe... The white wallz... D-do you know where they are? I want zo terribly to go back...ZZzzzz He answers hesitantly, still not moving closer but not backing up further either.
-------------------------------------------------
(Nix42, that is quite alright, roleplaying is an excellent way to develop a character, after all.)
The fawn looked back at her with his odd eyes unblinking, slight confusion caught on his featureless face, hidden in the darkness as it were.
zzzZZZI am Radio... Who are you?ZZZzzz He asked, his head slowly tilting to one side in short, horrible jerks, as if his neck were on springs. And though his appearance was odd at best, even frightening and his odour alien to the doe, there was such a kind, soft warmth radiating from his tiny body, noticeable even as she stood several feet away from him.
Confusion washes over him, starting slowly but esculating to higher heights.
"..What? No, I've never heard of such a place." His thoughts wander. Walls were restricting, you were allowed a limited range. This forest however, had none. It expanded forever, hence it's name. To be confined, especially as a fawn, would deform one's spirit and free-will, surely.
"But it sounds dreadful, why do you wish to return?"
At the sound of the doe, Dieu turns and greets her as well, noticing her genuine warmness towards the fawn. Such a typical doe. He smiled inwardly, the fawn seemed to welcome her presence as well. Maybe it'd do him good.
(Emerald & Nix42, apparently : ) )
Looking back onto the stag, Radio frowned, looking rather distressed at this question.
zzZZZB-becauze I know the white wallz... I don't know thiz... thiz "forezt"... - he pronounced this with great care - And everything iz zo big and dark and... and I want to go home...ZZZzzz He trailed off, a sob caught in his restrained throat, shaking the tiny body in a pitiful jerk, much alike the ones his neck would produce when tilting his head.
Astonishment at the shaking fawn was appearent in his eyes, as he leaned down closer to the shaking form. Gently he rested his nose on top of the fawn's small forehead, breath blowing out of his nose in light, calm clouds.
"Easy there, Radio. The forest may seem dark and intimidating now, I know it does. But that is only because you arrived at a bad time for your age. Soon the sun will filter in through the leaves, and you'll be in paradise. A paradise meant for deer such as yourself."
He pulls himself back, yet stayed in a crouching position so that he was even with the young one.
"Is it better if I stay like this? Am I too tall?"
A grin accompanied this, and he slowly eased himself down to a laying position. Dieu hoped the fawn would stop his sobs, they were deeply saddening indeed.
And true enough, the sobbing slowly subsided as the fawn stared, his bright eyes drying as a solitary tear left the corner of the left one, leaving a mesmerizing trail of blue fluorescence down his bony cheek and landing quietly on the dry leaves where it quickly disappeared into the ground.
zzZZZDeer?...ZZZzzz he slowly asked, as if it was the first time he had even heard that word, while gently approaching yet again, fear and sadness gone from his tiny face for now.
The doe had noticed the awful sounds the little fawnbody was making, and tried to hide the look of slight disgust on her face. The fawn seemed to give her the creeps, even though she immediately felt sorry for him as soon as she heard him talking. His voice was as unnatural as his scent, as if he was not a real living being. An ghost, an illusion. Something from another world? A fault of the Twin Gods? Something she highly doubted.
The unexpected warmth radiating from the fawn seemed to calm her restless thoughts. With an elegant bow she greeted the other deer, throwing him a warming smile and rose up again, while flicking her long, white hair to the side.
'Radio, hmm? Such an odd name, but with a slight exotic sound to it. My name is Ignis Divine.'
Quietly she then followed the conversation between Radio and the other deer curiously, tilting her head slight at Radio's explanation. He came from a place with white walls? It was quite hard to imagine such a place for her and she wondered what the purpose of those walls could be. Just like the other deer, she decided to lay down next to Radio. There were so many questions she wanted to ask him. Too many, she'd probably scare the fawn.
'In that world of white walls, are there others like you? How do they call themselves?'
Curiously he followed the tear, wondering why it glowed bright blue rather than clear like his own tears. Not that he had cried many to notice, of course. However, he knew that this color was not natural. This guy seems to reveal more and more mysteries for me to solve...how...interesting.
The ground swallowed the drop, ending the buck's thoughts for him.
"Yes, deer. The holy creatures of the Twin Gods, who inhabit this forest. I am one myself, ya know. You resemble of us in body shape, to say the least. So I'll call you a deer, for now."
His eyes flick to the doe, inquiring whether she was thinking the same as he. But you're no normal deer.
Slowly he closed his eyes and rested his chin against the grass, and sighed.
"Do you...like the color white?" he murmurred, taking a guess based on what Radio has said earlier. If he liked his old 'home' so much, it'd make perfect sense that he'd liked the color of it as well.
Laying down with difficulty between the two, knees creaking like those of an old, weathered stag, Radio flicked his ears around in thought, as if listening to his own mind, a curious notion, even as static, incoherent noises escaped the round object in his mouth.
His tiny body was surprisingly warm between the two, and where his black fur touched them, they could feel it to be softer than anything else in the forest and lighter too. Contrary to his ghastly appearance, his presence had a strangely calming and rejuvenating effect on them, chasing away the cold and dreary air of late autumn which surrounded them with its chilling grip.
zzZZZHmm... maybe I am a deer... Though I never zaw anyone who lookz like me in The White Wallz...ZZzzz he mumbled, deep in thought, turning his disfigured face with the jaw that looked broken towards his female company, Ignis Divine, then back at Dieu.
zzzZZZOh, I very much like the colour white! In The White Wallz, everything'z white, all the time... It hurtz the head a little if you ztare at it for too long, but it never changez... I like that...ZZzzz He said with what was probably a smile, though it was hard to make out, the way his face looked, and even harder in the darkness and mist.
zzZZZAnd then there'z the Two-Legged onez... They feed me and talk to me... But then one of them took me out of my zleepingplaze - why would he do that? - and then I woke up here...ZZzzz He trailed off yet again, confusion and sadness sneaking their way onto his young face for the second time.
Dieu leaned lightly into the fawn as it rested beside him and the other, grimancing at the sound of weak bones. The warmth radiating out of the little guy was comforting, however, Dieu was far from relaxed. Warm or not, he was still a stranger who spoke of strange things. And that object in his mouth...jargon poured out of it in short phrases wrapped in a sound that reminded Dieu of crunching leaves. His ears perked up, and he glanced back at Radio. Radio was more calm than before, his body loose in contentment. At least, that's what it seemed, couldn't be too sure quite yet.
"No wonder, we don't live in white walls...we live in forests full of beautiful sounds and sights. Though I'm sure it's a change for you." he chuckled, shaking his fur to the side as it swung irritatingly into his vision.
"Everything? Even at night?" he seemed curious rather than astonished this time. I'm already becoming used to his talk of the place.
The thought was bitter, he should be anything but accustomed to this. But relief hit him when bewilderment made itself known when the term 'two-legged ones' was spoken. This was new, the only animals with two legs he'd heard of were birds. This fawn was dominated by..birds? No, that was impossible..right?
"You speak of them fondly..as if their kindness is unimaginable. I've never heard of them before, though. As for why you were released here, I suppose it was because you became too wild for them to handle, or they grew tired of your presence. Either way, did they do things to you?"
He chose his words carefully as to not offend. There was no missing the object lodged deep into his mouth, his muddled words, the scars, and of course that scent. It was not mundane by any circumstances. Both himself and Ignis had noticed it; he could tell she was as troubled as he. What are you...and what were you? I wonder.
But to this, the fawn shook his head.
zzZZZNo, not kind...ZZzzz a troubled look came over his face as he spoke these words, ancient memories nagging at the back of his skull, making him flinch as they echoed their way to consciousness and distant voices could be heard coming from his mouth piece. They were strange, emotionless voices, they sounded like normal deer, but had no kindness in them, speaking in complicated terms and using words never heard of in the forest before.
zzZZZZometimez... they would hurt me...ZZzzz He said, sadness in his voice once more, but no confusion this time, almost as if he had gotten used to this just being a fact of life, one that oughtn't be questioned.
zzzZZZBut... They made me zolid, and they made me talk!...ZZZzzz he continued, speaking yet again in fondness, his voice clearer now, with less static behind it, as if the leaves of his mind had finally settled down.
"Huh? They weren't kind to you? At least, not always? Irritation at being wrong began to muddle his thoughts. All this is so confusing!
he thought, grumbling under his breath.
The warmth was ebbing away now, and once again the air escaping his body turned misty white once it touched the cold air of the forest. It was creepy, with the hums and drounes coming from the deformed fawn, the darkness, the slowly swirling clouds of breath...
"Hurt you? Why, how awful. Who could ever lay harm to a fawn?"
Now Dieu felt a rush of anger and empathy. But once more Radio spoke of unfamilar things, and those feelings were washed away.
"Pff, we were always solid. You don't see puddles of liquid deer in the forest, do you?" he snapped, tired of being puzzled over something so bizarre.
Making Radio pull his neck and head away in slight confused fright, his ears laying down gently along the curve of his head.
zzZZZI... I wazn't alwayz a deer, I think... they uzed to call me... "Radio-Wavez"...ZZzz he explained carefully, both afraid to infuriate the stag even further, and mispronounce something crucial.
He seemed very fixed upon not committing any mistakes, as if even the simplest one would cause him great pain and loss...
With a huff the buck shook his fur running along his neck, more so for show than anything else. He'd always been one for appearances.
"What a strange name to be bestowed." he mumbled, cocking his head to the side as if the sitation was laid out directly in front of him, and he'd been instructed to solve it.
"Waves as in the pond, eh? And radio, which is your name. I do say, these two-leggers you speak of sound crazy in the head!" Chuckling he rolled over onto his side, cracking his eyes open as he went. Stars shone down onto the deer, making them star-speckled. I admit, it's becoming a lovely night. Perhaps this is a sign, yes?
he sighed and swished his tail from side to side. 'Swish swish swish...'
The fawn's appearant speech impediment went practically unnoticed, it was hard enough distinguishing the words through the buzzing noises constantly streaming from his mouth.
"Ya know, I'm rather interested by you, you're not like most here, and you seem to have knowledge of worlds beyond ours. You're compelling."
Giggling at the comment about the two-legged-ones, the fawn moved closer, his gentle warmth softly touching Dieu long before the fawn himself, as he hesitantly attempted a small snuggle, though reluctant to move away from their doe-companion.
zzZZZT-thank you!... I don't know if I have zuch knowledge... He said, raising his gaze towards the stars, the background-noise of his voice dulling into a gentle buzz, -But... how am I different from otherz?...ZZZzzz He asked naively, immediately making it obvious to anyone wise enough, that he had never looked upon his own reflection...
Painfully obvious...
At first tension took a hold on the deer's muscles, but then he relaxed, and gave a soft snort. He would allow Radio to snuggle into him, he'd earned his trust, for now. Besides, it wasn't like the fawn could do much harm, more so he needed a safe haven from harm. Perhaps this arrogant being could suffice. His front legs shifted slightly in attempts to get more comfortable. The actions repeated themselves every minute or so. Dieu was a restless fellow.
"What makes you different? Well...for starters that distinct object in your mouth. It's eye-catching, but not in a good way. It also distorts your voice, making it sound as if you are hoarse or have leaves caught in your throat."
These words were said emotionlessly, and he focused on the swaying trees. It would seem he was unwilling to elaborate further on the differences of the fawn.
"...But in heart and soul you appear to be a true deer, maybe even more morally inclined than most."
Bringing a confused look to the fawn's face yet again and making him tilt his head slightly downwards and move his broken jaw as if tasting the object in his mouth with his tongue... if he had one...
zzzZZZBut... I can't zpeak without it...ZZzzz he mumbled, giving a swift jerk with his head to make a soft crack come from his neck, followed by a pleasant sigh. Apparently, a stiff neck was another one of his concerns. But he still looked thoughtful, even as he smiled at the older deer, his bright eyes like little pieces of the moon that had fallen to the ground.
zzZZZThe Two-Legged onez would alwayz talk about moralz... It waz a favourite pazt-time of theirz, going on and on about moralz and what waz morally correct and not...ZZzzz He sighed, as if this was his fondest memory of them all, strange as it may sound. Though as he spoke, tiny little trembles went through his skin where strange stitched covered long, white scars.
Carefully he leaned down and sniffed the object, even gently prodding it with his nose.
"Really? But, don't you have vocal cords?"
He scanned the scarred and tattered body, noting the length and depth of each wound. I suppose if the outside is this bad, then the inside must be damaged too, though.
The smile of the other was welcomed, and a small grin was returned to him in response.
"Would they? Hm..and were most of their reasonings behind the morals they chose correct?"
This was getting more fasinating by the minute, two-legged beings that held morals just like themselves...it could be quite possible that they could interact with them possibly, in the future. However, Dieu was still wary. Regardless of their knowledge and conscious, they had done this, brought waves to life. And that, was utterly impossible according to Dieu's mind.
zzZZZI don't really know...ZZzzz Said Radio, brow deeply lined with thought yet again, his jaw not even moving as Dieu touched it gently. It didn't even hurt the fawn, apparently he was alright.
zzZZZThe moralz they zpoke of... It waz alwayz if it waz morally correct to try out new... thingz... To, uhm... "let me out"...ZZZzzz He said, obviously not knowing what they meant by this.
zzzZZZMoztly... They ended up trying out thoze thingz anyway...ZZZzzz He crackled with deep sadness and pain hidden in his broken voice while the shadows of horrible, horrible screams echoed almost inaudibly through the fine filter of his mouth piece.
(sorry I was absent, I was having my birthday party and everything surrounding it. <3)
Ignis Divine had fallen silent during the conversation between the fawn and Dieu, it seemed as every question in her head was already been asked before she could open her mouth. She decided to observe the two for a while, letting Dieu do the talking. Meanwhile, she was trying to fit the pieces of this mystery together, hoping she would find out where this creature came from. She was convinced Radio was not a real deer. First of all, he did not consider himself a real deer, something that shouldn't be overlooked while trying to guess one's identity. Second of all, he needed 'something' in his mouth to talk, as he wasn't able to do like everyone else. Third, there was this story about how he was created from liquid.
Also, these two-legged ones he kept talking about fascinated her. They seemed to experiment on Radio, as if he was something new and special to them. But what would they want to know?
'How do the two-legged creatures call themselves? What do they exactly look like? Do they talk?' She asked, really wanting to know more about them.
Hearing this, the screams behind Raido's voice dulled to a gentle crackle of what sounded like dry leaves as he turned his head to look at Ignis, almost surprised at her speaking after such a while of silence.
zzZZZHow they looked... Well, they walked on two legz, and they didn't have any front-legz, only... Uhm, I can't dezcribe it, they were like... Like legs, only zhorter... and they had "fingerz" on them, zo they could grab thingz...ZZZzzz he said, looking deep in thought yet again, his large eyes squinting slightly in deep concentration.
zzZZZAnd... they zpoke with voizes like ourz, calling each other... "P-profezzor" and... "nurze"...ZZZzz He says slowly and carefully, the echoes of what could only be the "two-legged-ones"'s voices ghosting by his voice as he informs them of what they used to address each other by.
So the two-legged creatures had names. Ignis Divine was getting more and more intrigued by them, as they seemed to have something in common with deer. But they walked on two legs and used fingers to grab things. Ignis knew what Radio meant, she noticed the same thing with squirrels. Their front legs were actually arms and their fingers were used to grab pinecones and acorns. Plus, they could climb with them. She wondered if the two-legged ones were squirrels, al though she had never heard the little critters talk and giving each other names.
Ignis was convinced deer were gifted by the Gods with intelligence, but she never knew there were probably also other animals that received the same gift. She wondered why she never met these creatures at all, were their worlds completely seperated from each other? Would Radio be the bridge between these two worlds? What was he in the first place?
'Gods, this is really confusing. I'm thinking about giant squirrels. Do you know what squirrels are, Radio? Or haven't the two-legged ones told you about other creatures? What exactly did they tell you, or haven't they spoken to you personally?'
While trying to see what was beneath his eyes, emptiness was all she could find. Her great sense of smell couldn't read what the young one must have felt. She carefully nuzzled the fawn, feeling his incredible warm body against hers.
Unnatural warmth, unnatural smell and an unnatural voice. Ignis was starting to have a stream of thoughts about how intelligent these two-legged creatures actually were. Could Radio be...?
Making Radio shake his head gently as he nuzzled back, apparently happy, for his tail was wagging eagerly and that deformed smile was back around his mouthpiece.
zzZZZI d-don't really know what "zquirrelz"... are... but they don't zound like the Two-Legged onez...ZZZzzz He said, the fur of his gentle frame as soft as a cloud against Ignis' cheek... Soft, warm and gentle... He appeared to be everything he didn't look like on the outside.
zzzZZZAnd... when they zpoke to me, they uzually were trying to... Communicate and teach me wordz...ZZZzzz His brow furrowed as these words left him, indicating that he was hiding something... Something he didn't look like he wanted to talk about...
Ignis lowered her ears slightly, there was something she wasn't supposed to hear. Maybe she would be able to pull it out, but she feared that if she would force the little one, it would only cause him to shut down. He didn't even know what squirrels were, so she supposed the two-legged ones didn't care about learning him about the aspects of nature. They locked him away in a white area of nothingness, tought him nothing about the outside world but instead tried to teach them their own language. But how would his situation before these creatures laid their hands on him? It sounded like he had no mother to care for him and help him learn.
It was hard trying to fit the pieces together, but somehow she had been thinking something silly all this time. A thought she was ashamed of, something crazy and probably impossible. She had heard wat Radio told Dieu about 'waves' as if he used to be those waves. Could those waves be his soul? Could Radio have been a lost soul, captured by these two-legged creatures? Maybe.... maybe they made a vessel! Maybe his current body was merely a vessel for his wandering soul to live in! But such power... would those creatures be able to do that? Create a functioning body?
She looked at Radio, ready to fire her thoughts and questions straight at him. But then, suddenly, she rememberd the touch of his fur. The incredible softness she hadn't felt from anything else. This innocent creature, should he really be facing the harshness of reality? No, not yet atleast.
'I've heard enough about two-legged freaks. Radio, how fast can you walk? I think it's time you learned more about the world surrounding you. Because I have no idea how long you will be staying here.'
Listening intently to the conversation, Dieu stayed silent. He had asked all the questions he wanted for today. It sure was strange; the two-legged creatures teaching Radio their language. What purpose would they have for that? If what had been said was true, Radio has just been a sea of waves. Waves wouldn't know much of anything except to keep rolling over and over themselves. Were they hoping they could teach waves something more? It seemed no one would be able to answer that at this time however, so the thought was locked away in his mind. For now. He'd figure it out himself one way or another. He raised his head off the ground, and eased himself into a sit. The doe wanted to take Radio out into the forest. Of course it'd be beneficial to the fawn in many ways but...what if they attracted unwanted eyes? Someone as different and synthetic as this fellow wouldn't go unnoticed for long.
"You want to teach him the ways of the forest, Ignis? I agree with you, however, we'll need to protect him from the dangers as well. I doubt he could defend himself decently in his current condition."
Groaning Dieu rose back to a stand, and glanced about. He looked back towards the black fawn. He stared quietly for a moment, then looked out into the vast distance of trees.
"But would you be up to the challenge of learning our ways, Radio? And all the hardships that will come with being someone like yourself?"
Tilting his head curiously at the two deer in his company, Radio felt a rush of excitement at the prospect of learning the ways of this new, strange world he had bee thrust into.
zzzZZZI'd very much like to learn! And... I'm ready to faze whatever might be in ztore.ZZzzz he stated bravely, crackling voice full of determination and eagerness as he got up on thin, unsteady legs, knees still giving off unpleasant sounds of misuse, though the tiny body of the fawn was positively radiating energy itching to be used, his ears standing straight up and eyes wide and glowing brightly in the pseudo-darkness.
His heart was eagerly beating with excitement, the beat so prominent and loud, it made his tiny body vibrate rhythmically and the leaves at his hooves tremble, as if touched by the stream of life itself.
For a creature of such frail existence, Radio held a remarkable force within him, one which touched others and energized them if they came close enough to him.
He was pulsating.
With life.
The days are growing shorter.
Cold settles in the fallen leaves
leaving fine vapour as it achieves contact with warm bodies.
It is a lonely time.
A freezing time.
A time for seeking company.
...
Therefore, I bump.
The air breathes. Breathes. It lifts and it falls, and the birds sing the chorus of life. Gold eyes swirl in a humble flourish, and are white again, blanketed as if by a flurry of snow.
"You are meant to be, and from that decide what this being entails. And if you cannot chance your circumstances, you should make the best of them."
Though Radio seems confused by these words, shaking his head gently to clear his clouded thoughts, maybe searching for some hidden insight in the thick fog of his mind.
zzzZZZBut... But I don't want to be here! Do I have to ztay here, even if I don't want to?...ZZZzzz He asks innocently, the strangely uncorrupted greed of a fawn on his face, as he clearly think these circumstances not fair.
He has a home and he wants to go back to it, back to what he knows and is used to. The prospect of meeting and staying in this strange, new world seems less than wanted to this young, deformed individual.
OHMIGAWD I had a heart attack xDDD Seriously epic! B|
"I am Amaterasu." Her voice was plain, her ears, perked forward in interest. How to feel about this "Radio", this unnatural creature fused with man's inventions?
The curious being tilted his head, eyes full of childlike curiosity.
zzZZZA-ma-te-ra-zu...ZZzzz He said in a crackling voice, tasting the word, trying to make it fit into his vocabulary. Soon, he smiled.
zzzZZZThat'z a funny name!... You're... not from around here, are you?...ZZZzzz He asked, his bright, white eyes shining like the moon... there was something familiar in those eyes, like a friend long gone, old and lost, but not forgotten...
the crooked creature "smiled", though the grimace was obscured by the object welded into his mouth. Such a strange-looking being...
Ryff gallopped over to her friend and nearly tackled him with excitement. "Radio! Radio! it's good to see you again, friend!" She squealed, and if she was a human she'd be bouncing and clapping excitedly. "Where have you been?"
Yelping in surprise as he staggered and nearly fell to the ground, Radio laughed as he recognized the excited doe, his heart swelling at the sight of a dear, dear friend.
zzzZZZRyff! I mizzed you zo much! I... I've been zleeping... Zorry to have worried you!...ZZZzzz the ever-fawn immediately apologized at the drop of the question, snuggling his warm, little body into hers affectionately, a happy smile on his white face... He seemed unchanged, hardly touched by the hands of time at all, as small, starved and fragile as ever... if just a little taller. Those rickety legs seemed to have benefited from being out and about and not locked between The White Walls like an imprisoned sparrow who never learned how to fly.
[Ah. I've taken a bit of an abscence as well, middle school bogging me down.]
She felt like a fawn around him. While her more recent wounds had healed, from a fight with a fawn-and-doe-attacking stag, her gait was slower and her and one green eye squinted from injury. Nonetheless, she hopped and bounced like a child. "I've missed you too! After you left I searched and searched and kept searching but I couldn't find you anywhere!" She buried her face into Radio's mane. "You have hardly changed! I have so much to tell you..." Ryff nuzzled him gently.
Giggling and rubbing his cheek against her neck, Radio bounced just as much about, the tiny stubs of antlers on his head another very slight change in his appearance, though nothing big enough to matter at all as he hummed an upbeat melody from the back of his voice.
Though it abruptly cut off as Ryff expressed her concern.
zzzZZZI'm zo zorry... I didn't know you'd mizz me zo much!...ZZZzzz He said in his strange voice, his huge, white eyes glowing up at her with what would probably be an apologetic and adorable puppy-dog face on any other fawn who didn't sport a mouthful of metal and an exterior so starved, it could put a skeleton to shame.
Still, as the subject changed, he nuzzled into her pelt, his strange warmth already reaching her, coincidentally at the same time the black fawn felt butterflies erupt in his stomach.
zzzZZZ-And you look zo different! You muzt tell me everything!ZZZzzz He said excitedly, his mentality obviously having matured a great deal since their last encounter.
"Okay, but let's walk and talk. On the way to the pond, I will tell you all that has happened." She began to amble forward, a stiffened walking gait marring an otherwise graceful appearance.
"Shortly after you left...it was sometime in midwinter, yes? Well, I lost my antlers." She bent her head sideways to show him the pale grey nubs that were left. "Not even a week afterwards, Windsor and I were playing with Gustiro and a few fawns when suddenly, a great elk came and began attacking the fawns. Gustiro chased the fellow, followed by Windsor, and finally me. We were joined by some others later on, but they all left, leaving just me and Windsor. We fought him as hard as we could, but I did not have my antlers and my hooves are not sharp. He began attacking me and would not stop. I fell down, and Windsor chased him off, but it left me so very wounded that I bear scars to this day." She growled slightly, her silver hackles standing on end. "I went to Gustiro for help, and he quickly gave me some water reeds to keep me alive." By now, they were at the pond. She dipped her human face into the water and took a short drink to clear her mouth and throat. "I had to leave the forest for a while to fully recover. I still feel pain in my legs and face, where he gored me the most." Ryff sniffled slightly. It was a traumatic event for the young doe.
[Silly Ryffle, always getting into fights. I believe this is the second time they've met while she's been wounded, lol.]
[Good God, le'ts hope it doesn't become a habit, she'll worry Radio to death XD]
Having been silent as the grave as Ryff talked, Radio now gave a small whine-like sound out of distress and worry and immediately snuggled into her side, the warmth from his somehow quivering, feeling... sad, almost.
zzzZZZThat'z horrible! Y-you zhouldn't get into fightz like that!ZZZzzz he said, voice distressed and high-pitched, but strangely stern, like a mother scolding her child, all the while he still kept on grooming her, his soft cheek touching the places she had been injured, dulling the pain, if only slightly... That strange warmth of his, it was a blessing to the injured, to say the least. Not to mention, it was strangely comical to see a fawn scolding a grown doe and making such a fuss about her sustaining injury. It was a reverse scenario if ever there was one.
Still, he kept at distance from the water...
[She's too persitent, protective, and temperamental. Attacking fawns means she'll come after you, and soon, she'll come after fawn-hunters with antlers xD]
"I know, I know..." She twitched a foot as his face ran over a scar that reopened frequently and was quite sore. Still, being groomed gave her butterflies in her gut. "But we had to take him out...he might've come after another fawn and hurt it badly..." Ryff whimpered slightly and nuzzled Radio's shoulder. "He could've come after you." She began to groom the longer fur between his shoulder blades, more because it soothed her than because it would benefit him.
zzzZZZI can take care of myzelf, Ryff... And I know you only follow your heart... But you have to look out for yourzelf too! What'll happen if you can't defeat thoze ztagz?... What if you dizappear?...ZZZzzz He said in a voice heavy with concern and grief, the very thought of loosing a friend like a knife to his tiny heart.
Clearing his throat, he looked up, a sincerity unmatched in his deep, moonlit eyes, wisdom beyond his appearance carved into his face, young and untouched as it was, sake for the marring appearance he'd always bore, that of an old man's skin, furrowed by pain and experience a creature so gentle never should have had to see.
[Oh my, Radio will have to be her private doctor if she continues like that XD]
She looked into his eyes, unblinking and serious. "But..." She silenced herself. Resistance to the Radio puppy face was futile. many would think him haunting, but she thought he was sweet and adorable in his own special way. It didn't really make a difference if she fought for him or he fought for himself; she was only a few inches taller than him but markably heavier, simply because she was a better eater and more muscular. When he grew up all the way, he would likely exceed her in size. She sighed. "Just...don't ever get into a fight you can't handle. Deer won't hesitate to kill you..."
[By the way, will Radio ever fully grow up? Just curious. : )]
A small smile creased the cracked, crooked lips surrounding the metal object in the black fawn's mouth.
zzzZZZDon't worry, I promize I'll be fine.ZZZzzz he said in a voice as reassuring as any golden cage or following of heavy-build body guards. For some reason, one could not help but believe this tiny creature as he smiled up at her, giving her cheek a soft nuzzle... And as he brought his head closer, tiny bruises were revealed on his forehead and around his growing antlers, by now old and hardly worth mentioning, but they were still there, diminutive patches of miscolouration below the soft fur, dark against his pale skin, even slightly blue in colour still.
Curiously, she sniffed the blue bruises. Realizing their position, she chuckled slightly. "Your antlers are growing a bit. More than last time I saw you." She affectionately nibbled the black fur between his head and neck. "I wonder what you'll look like with antlers?"
Some silence passed as she groomed his mane, amazed at how his fur was so soft and his body seemed so sickly. Butterflies flitted happily in her stomach as she groomed him gently.
Strangely enough, causing a
zzZZZI am Radio - why are you doing that?ZZZzzz It curiously enquires, nodding nonchalantly in the general direction of his new acquaintance's head.
His eyes narrow in
"What's so funny?"
In truth, Dieu hadn't been so sure that this creature could talk, not to mention laugh. Then again, you learn something every day they say. The question caught him by surprise.
Hn? You mean bow? It's a way of acknowledging someone. You've never known it before?
Though the harsh tone of the
zzZZZN-no!... I... I ne... never zaw anyone do it before...ZZZzzz he crackles nervously, the static of his voice mixing in with a high-pitched children's rhyme which snakes rapidly into the background where it stays as Radio's breathing becomes vocalized.
Pity for the frightened
Pity for the frightened creature struck him, but only for a few moments. Why should he feel sorry for one he didn't even know? Perhaps it was because he'd taken the fawn as someone slightly sinister, though that assumption was proven completely false now. Now he just seemed confused, lost.
Never seen...everyone bows in the Endless Forest. Or at least the majority...
"You're not from here." he states, sure in his words.
"So where did you come from?
I just have to RP with him
It was a dark and foggy night.
(Emerald) Silence followed as
zzzZZZThe...
Confusion washes over him,
(Emerald & Nix42, apparently
Looking back onto the stag, Radio frowned, looking rather distressed at this question.
zzZZZB-becauze I know the white wallz... I don't know thiz... thiz "forezt"... - he pronounced this with great care - And everything iz zo big and dark and... and I want to go home...ZZZzzz He trailed off, a sob caught in his restrained throat, shaking the tiny body in a pitiful jerk, much alike the ones his neck would produce when tilting his head.
Astonishment at the shaking
"Easy there, Radio. The forest may seem dark and intimidating now, I know it does. But that is only because you arrived at a bad time for your age. Soon the sun will filter in through the leaves, and you'll be in paradise. A paradise meant for deer such as yourself."
He pulls himself back, yet stayed in a crouching position so that he was even with the young one.
"Is it better if I stay like this? Am I too tall?"
A grin accompanied this, and he slowly eased himself down to a laying position. Dieu hoped the fawn would stop his sobs, they were deeply saddening indeed.
And true enough, the sobbing
zzZZZDeer?...ZZZzzz he slowly asked, as if it was the first time he had even heard that word, while gently approaching yet again, fear and sadness gone from his tiny face for now.
The doe had noticed the awful
Curiously he followed the
The ground swallowed the drop, ending the buck's thoughts for him.
Laying down with difficulty
Dieu leaned lightly into the
"No wonder, we don't live in white walls...we live in forests full of beautiful sounds and sights.
I wonder.
But to this, the fawn shook
zzZZZNo, not kind...ZZzzz a troubled look came over his face as he spoke these words, ancient memories nagging at the back of his skull, making him flinch as they echoed their way to consciousness and distant voices could be heard coming from his mouth piece.
"Huh? They weren't kind to
Making Radio pull his neck
With a huff the buck shook
Giggling at the comment about
zzZZZT-thank you!...
At first tension took a hold
"What makes you different? Well...for starters that distinct object in your mouth. It's eye-catching, but not in a good way. It also distorts your voice, making it sound as if you are hoarse or have leaves caught in your throat."
These words were said emotionlessly, and he focused on the swaying trees. It would seem he was unwilling to elaborate further on the differences of the fawn.
"...But in heart and soul you appear to be a true deer, maybe even more morally inclined than most."
Bringing a confused look to
zzzZZZBut...
Carefully he leaned down and
Carefully he leaned down and sniffed the object, even gently prodding it with his nose.
And that, was utterly impossible according to Dieu's mind.
zzZZZI don't really
zzZZZThe moralz they zpoke of...
(sorry I was absent, I was
Ignis Divine had fallen silent during the conversation between the fawn and Dieu, it seemed as every question in her head was already been asked before she could open her mouth.
Hearing this, the screams
zzZZZHow they looked...
So the two-legged creatures
Making Radio shake his head
zzZZZI d-don't really know what "zquirrelz"... are... but they don't zound like the Two-Legged onez...ZZZzzz He said, the fur of his gentle frame as soft as a cloud against Ignis' cheek...
Ignis lowered her ears
Listening intently to the
"You want to teach him the ways of the forest, Ignis? I agree with you, however, we'll need to protect him from the dangers as well. I doubt he could defend himself decently in his current condition."
Groaning Dieu rose back to a stand, and glanced about. He looked back towards the black fawn. He stared quietly for a moment, then looked out into the vast distance of trees.
"But would you be up to the challenge of learning our ways, Radio? And all the hardships that will come with being someone like yourself?"
Tilting his head curiously at
zzzZZZI'd very much like to learn!
With life.
The days are growing
Cold settles in the fallen leaves
leaving fine vapour as it achieves contact with warm bodies.
It is a lonely time.
A freezing time.
A time for seeking company.

Therefore, I bump.

It is alright. From the ashes
From the ashes comes the pheonix.
"You are meant to be, and from that decide what this being entails. And if you cannot chance your circumstances, you should make the best of them."
Though Radio seems confused
zzzZZZBut...
OHMIGAWD I had a heart attack
"I am Amaterasu." Her voice was plain, her ears, perked forward in interest. How to feel about this "Radio", this unnatural creature fused with man's inventions?
The curious being tilted his
zzZZZA-ma-te-ra-zu...ZZzzz He said in a crackling voice, tasting the word, trying to make it fit into his vocabulary.
[Thanks a lot, I love surprising people XD]
[YOU! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? xD
Ryff gallopped over to her friend and nearly tackled him with excitement.
"Radio! Radio! it's good to see you again, friend!" She squealed, and if she was a human she'd be bouncing and clapping excitedly.
"Where have you been?"
[Oh, just had some things
[Ah. I've taken a bit of an
She felt like a fawn around him.

"Okay, but let's walk and
"Shortly after you left...it was sometime in midwinter, yes?
[Good God, le'ts hope it
