It settles over me, painting me in warmth and color unlike any deer from my homeland has ever worn. My tines, they blacken. My pelt turns a shade of such deep blue, it is almost as if the night sky has settled over it, with a snow-colored belly underneath. As if blue and white cannot co-exist, a strip of the deepest black falls between them, attaching itself there to highlight my form. The magic settles over me in golden dust and golden glow, a beautiful sight for others to see, and me to feel. Suddenly, I can feel the heartbeat of another. I can feel it in the ground, in the flowers, in the air. A feeling of ecstasy runs through me, and I stretch my neck, my body, to feel the rush. My eyes are closed, but barely, pulled by my eyebrows as they raise with feeling. The magic settles over me.

The time seems to go on forever as my tines turn back, but each sound is buffeted with the sound of the heartbeat-magic flowing through my ears, muffled. My hooves twitch, legs stretch as if in a leap, though I lay flat on the ground, my side now crushing the violets beneath me. If others have watched, I don't know, so lost am I as the magic settles over me.

I rise, and smile. Sniffing my own fur, I am surprised to find that I don't smell any different, though my luxurious fur developed the proper color. Excited, like a fawn, I trotted to the edge of the river to peer at myself. I was reborn. My face stared at me, brown yet, with its usual spotted nose. My pelt seemed to fade behind me, a deep blue, my chest a brilliant white. I smiled, before beaming as I noticed my Pictogram. My deer-head-shaped naming symbol gained its own pictogram, a dot atop the tines.

I feel like a god, the magic of the forest running through me as the river does the heart of this land.

Oh, thank you wild wild world.
