It was coming! It was angry! It wanted blood...and only the blood of the wretched thief would do to satisfy its rage. The very shadows that creep across the darkening wood trembled in the wake of the angered beast that pursued the terrified young deer. A scrawny thing that had only been following her big brother on what he said was an adventure. Their trip into the shadowy beast's lair only turned out to be a deathtrap...her brother gone in what seemed to be the blink of an eye. Such a shame, he had just gotten his antlers too. Odd thoughts to think when one is being chased by what could be their death as well. A limb was in her path and she tried to jump over it but didn't quite make it...spindly legs get tangled as she fell and before she could scream the thing was towering over her. Don't scream...don't scream...The thing opened its jaws filled with rows and rows of razor sharp teeth and let out a bone chilling, blood curdling laughter. 'Sssssooo preeeetty....Taaaaasssstyyyy and preeeettyyyy...' She can't help it anymore...A scream ripped from her throat and echoed through the forest...

Ebony woke up with a start, a small scream caught in her throat. She looked around herself frantically as if expecting to still see the beast looming over her. With a sigh of relief Ebony laid her head back down and tried to calm her racing heart. 'Just a dream...it was just a bad dream...' A dream, of a terrible memory. One she would hope to keep hidden in the deepest corners of her mind than to ever think about it again.
