Felted unicorn

Spyrre's picture
So I ended up buying some supplies and felting some more... this time a random unicorn.
Markings remind me of a skunk... not sure if it´s a good thing or not. ^^;
Thinking of making a bit complicated one next.
Non-TEF, but my unicorns are mostly cervine-based.

Is there no end to your talent? It's so cute! I have no idea how to felt so I'm very impressed, it looks better than plushes I see in toy stores.

I would love to see some process shots of how you make these, as I have no clue how they are created! Fascinating!

Omg so adorable. ;_;

Sypris & Schutzgeist, Thank you so much both of you! <3 Never been any good in sewing, but felting feels a lot easier to do. I have been wanting to try some "plushies" for a while now. =)

Dag, You spoil me, thank you! =)
Felting is actually quite simple, all you have to do is poke some wool with a felting-needle and control the shape and texture. This is quite a lot smaller than the fawn I made before, but tried to make it more detailed...

Sighthoundlady, Thanks! I really appreciate your kind comments. =)
Ah, it didn´t really cross my mind to take in-process -shots of the making... maybe I´ll do that with next one, if people are interested. There´s a pipe-cleaner "skeleton" inside of it and just wool felted on it, if that gives you an idea how it´s done.

Nopje, Thank you! <3

Misako, Thanks! Yes it is, atleast as long as you don´t poke your fingers with the needle... it´s very sharp. ^^; I´ll try to remember taking some in-process -shots next time!

ocean, Thanks. =) I´m actually very happy with the face too, somehow I even managed to get it symmetrical this time!

Ahh, this is so gorgeous. I really like the slightly hunched back, the nice details of its bodyshape and the tail especially. That horn is also very creative, heehee.

This actually gave me an idea for a school project, so thanks a lot for sharing.

Saosin, Thank you. <3 At last I found some use for glittering pipecleaner, hehe.
Glad to be of help! Will you be felting something too? Just curious!

Geography, Thanks!

You're welcome.

You're welcome. <3
Yeah, that's what I plan to.. It's something inspired by louise bourgeois. Not a big fan of her works or anything, it's just for school. The idea I have in mind is kind of sexual, so idk if it's appropriate to post what exactly here. I might like working with this material though, so maybe I'll post something tef related with it, too.

I googled some of her work,

I googled some of her work, not really in my taste either even though I enjoy surrealism,
but felting could probably go well with that kind of art.
Good luck with that, and I look forward if you get something else done too. =)
