Chapter Three
Its been about a week since his last training with the forest magic Chi had taught him. It was a beautiful sunrise that awoke the sleeping fawn. Chi had been away for a week to bring Kurai's progress to Karanu. Its been an interesting week on his own, but he knew he was in a deep pile of crap. He had wandered to far from the borders Chi marked for him to stay in. He was staying in a beautiful large hallow oak tree, it seemed almost magical by the way it hummed him to sleep every night, and stayed quiet during the morning. It felt like him, a shaded, secluded home. Yawned, the fawns beak opened widely before looking around. Though farther away from him, hooves nearly shook the ground as Chi, a large buck with a pelt of midnight blue and stars, flew down the grassy hills, his hooves kicking up a rainbow trail of dew drops as he raced around. "Where are you, you stupid fawn?!" He snapped and looked around.
Finally awakening, Kurai paused, there was a sudden....Weight to his head, and it nearly hurt as well! Shaking out his head he tried to reach up and scratch the pained areas but his legs just were not long enough. Removing himself from his tree, he stopped in a beautiful pasture and closed his eyes, his hooves feeling for danger and his nose sniffing for a near by river. Smiling successfully, he trotted over. He was proud to have found use for one of his mentor's teachings, his teaching on Forest Magic seemed nothing but useless. Getting down to the river he lowered his head and lapped up the succulent sparkling pond water, his insides nearly sparkling as if he had just drunk gallons of sprite and he felt like he needed to burp, but it was a good feeling, not a gut squeezing burpy feeling. Removing his head from the lake he stopped to look at his deformed figure and froze, the water was moving but he didnt feel like he was? "Is that me?!" He asked himself, his silvery eyes wide as he watched his figure become deformed and wavy. His head cocked a bit when a larger figure formed into his reflection, nostrils flaring, his hooves swiping through the water. "Are you out of your mind?!" He yelled, bringing himself to a rear. Dead in a stunned position of fear, the fawn of greys, whites, blues and greens backed away cowering. "Dont you ever!!....." He stopped and looked down to his apprentice, his form going back into a standing position as he stared at the two new features on the fawns head. Grunting he sighed and turned away. He stayed that way for about a good ten minutes. "Seems the Dark Ones have chosen a new Candle Holder," he spoke as he turned back to Kurai. Confused the fawn looked back down and looked towards the tips of his head and froze, "What are those?" He asked. "Their your horns you idiot." Chi snorted and looked into the water. "Well, since we are here, I suppose we will start training again, go swim." He explained and sat.
Confused, Kurai gazed up, "but Chi, I...Dont know how to swim!" He explained. "Shut up, and go deeper into the water!" But Kurai didnt move. Rolling his eyes, Chi finally stood and pushed him into the river by his horns. A sudden bright glimmer filled the pool with gold and what once was a fawn, was a frog. Frantic, the small frog struggled to go to one of the Lilly Pads. Once out of the water, he suddenly changed back, and flew back into the water, changing back into a frog. "Just swim! Swim as many times and as fast as you can around the pond, if you stop before I tell you to stop, your sleeping in the pond," his eyes narrowed before sitting. Kurai did about thirty laps by the time Chi finally awoke from a slight nap. Yawning, Chi stood and shook the water from the lower parts of his body and removed himself from the water. "Stop!" He snapped. Weak, tired, and out of breath, the young fawn removed himself and collapsed. "Get up!" With that order, the fawn stood and looked to his mentor. "Thats enough for today, next you will learn more forest magic, you have...Such shitty aim," the wiser buck said and started walking away, Kurai trailing after.
