28.

this spot important. Will likely visit often; a place to rest.
Appearance
In game:
Orca Pelt, Real Deer Mask, DOTD Antlers, Mini Spell.
Out of game: Upon first glance, one can tell that Erari is not exactly a “normal” fawn. Indeed, she seems to give off an aura of an otherworldly being at times. She bears but the spots of a fawn, yet not much else. Her fur is of a shade as black as night, standing out drastically in comparison to the bright and sunny forest. She seems to have a few darker spots amongst her fur, similar to that of a black tabby cat- but they are not as noticeable. This coloring goes down to below her kneecaps, whereupon the black gives way to a series of bright purple “stains” which dot her legs. These “stains”, shaped like small comets going upwards, dot the bottom half of her legs. Her hooves themselves are of a dull, silvery sheen.
Perhaps the most prominent and noticeable features of this fawn are her bright purple eyes. These orbs appear to give off a glow that can be seen from a short distance away. Her pupils themselves are black and crescent shaped. The haunting stare of this fawn might just be enough to make one pause in surprise- or perhaps, even fear.
Though but a newborn, it is easy to tell that Erari will go to be of quite a tall height. She is already quite slender, her legs long for even that of a fawns. Upon her neck is a necklace which contains a small, blue green pearl. Is extremely protective of, and will not allow others to touch.
The Known
Farron: Acquaintance. The first deer she met in forest. Taught her how to interact with others; drawn to.
Hannibal: Acquaintance. Met him by the lake. Interesting, keep an eye out for.
Lats`vel Acquaintance. Indebted to. Helped to rescue her from a predator on her first day alive, and additionally helped drive off other threats in the following days. Even if these actions were not taken for her sake, still feels gratitude towards the large boar. Intrigued by, even if he`s hard to figure out sometimes.
Seed:Acquaintance. An interesting stag that seems to enjoy teaching her things. While sometimes confusing, she finds him quite nice as well.
Others: Ophelia, Nunu, Verve, Lohtu
Unsure/Disliked
Kaars: A strange creature. Was pursued by him on her first day in the forest, seemingly with malicious intent. Unsure of, but nevertheless intrigued by. Will be extremely wary of.
The Stranger: A strange red stag that has chased her and many others on multiple occasions. Tried to watch it and attempt to figure it out, but wound up being charged by it. First real scuffle in forest. Unsure of, teetering quickly toward dislike.
History:
Not of this world. Her origin is that of other world entirely; a dark, cold planet in which no outsiders dared to visit. Yet, her story is that of which must wait to be told-for now.
Personality and Traits
~Curious. Nothing is good, nothing is bad-until proven otherwise.
~Alert. Hard to sneak up on. Sometimes pretends not to notice other deer, but is usually always aware of their presence.
~Doesn`t talk more then she feels she needs to. Observes.
~Patient. Will always attempt to calmly reason with other deer before attacking them. Starts out by simply questioning them and politely telling them to stop. If alone, will normally flee the area. If her friends are being harassed/are in danger however, she is likely to react far more assertively.
~Cautious. Tries to assess a situation before stepping into it. May not even approach her own friends before determining what situation they are currently in.
~Is actually quite playful. Takes pleasure in teaching others what she knows.
~Assertive before aggressive.
~Believes fighting is normally quite petty, unless absolutely necessary. Sees fighting as an immature way of settling disputes. Will not intervene in fights, even between her own friends. This conflict was started because of them; therefore, they must settle it. The only exception of this will be if she suspects that sometime is at serious risk of injury, or if a younger deer/fawn is involved-unless, of course, the latter`s own actions started it.
~Strongly believes the concept of one`s own actions shaping what happens to them. You do not get into a conflict by chance-unless a complete stranger happens to charge you. Your own actions determines your status amongst yourself, and others. Believes that you undertook the decision to get into this, therefore you must deal with the consequences.
~Is not, however, completely cold and rational. In actuality, she is quite close to her friends, and willing to protect them-but only if they request it and/or she feels that they really need it. Feels that even those close to her must settle their own inner demons themselves for their own good and that they are the only ones who can ultimately overcome it. Is not above assisting them in their endeavors, however. Though she feels that in the end they must decide what happens to them, she will provide them as much aid as possible. Would go out of her way to protect those she is close to, if she feels they cannot handle it themselves.
~ Is quite emotional, but tries to hide this with a rational stoicism. Follows a “rationality above emotion” policy. While she does not hesitate to show emotion, she believes that the only reasonable mindset capable of settling certain events is a thoughtful and calm one. Is not, however, completely resistant to the power of emotions. Often lets her emotions fuel her and give her strength.
~ Forgives, but does not forget. Firstly, does not forget those who have aided her or done something for her in the past. These deer, even complete strangers, will always be remembered. Often spends a lot of time thinking of how to pay back these strangers for their kindness. Will occasionally act abnormally to pay back what she sees as debts. Secondly, is willing to forgive a deer for their past actions-but only if they prove they can be forgiven. If she feels that another is truly sorry and regretful for their past actions, she may warily forgive them. If, however, another apologizes and then runs off into another conflict, she will not forget this. Never forgets what other deer have done to her or her friends, no matter how sorry they may be. Not above warding another stranger off if she feels that they pose a danger to her friends. The well-being of those close to her is her top priority.
~ For the most part, incapable of feeling guilt. As mentioned before, what happens to another is the result of their own actions, not hers, with the above exceptions being what they are. This does not, however, mean that she is incapable of feeling empathy. Tends to struggle with this a little-due to her belief that it is not her place to intervene in certain situations unless someone else is truly in need-but tries to. Subject to change?
~ Has a rather rigid viewpoint on certain things. Tries not to judge on appearance or size. Does, however, believe that smaller deer/fawns should not get themselves involved in conflicts or other dire situations. The exception to this, of course, is if she has seen that they are able to handle themselves. Nevertheless, will be hesitant to let younger deer get into a fight.
~Yesterday was yesterday, today is a new day. Tries not to let what happened in the past involving those she knows affect her. Knows that they likely acted out because of something they saw to be important. Believes that grudges are trivial and do not get any deer far.
~Accommodating, to a point. Will adhere to the commands of another deer, as long as they are not too extreme. If someone tells her to move to a certain spot, she will in order to avoid conflict. Will not, however, leap into a fight at the order of another unless she believes that it is her place to help.
~A quiet basin near the bottom of the sea. Ruminates evenly, feels avidly. Quiet and dark, until the time is right-the time when the earth shakes and trembles and waves wash, unrelenting, battering the shore.
As Erari is still a rather young, she does not have a defined personality yet. It is likely that she will further develop as she ages. NOTE: Almost none of these are definite personality traits, and may be subject to sudden change as she is developed.

Traits and Quirks
~ Wears a blue green pearl around her neck in the form of a necklace. Is unaware of its true purpose, but will protect it with her life.
~ Soul was ripped out of her body in her previous life. The pearl, in fact, is the vessel that contains her soul. A link has been forged between the two that her soul is able to control her body through. The only difference between her and a normal mortal is that her soul isn`t physically within her body.
~ Were the pearl to be destroyed, the most likely outcome is that her soul would too be destroyed, and that her body would become nothing more than a lifeless corpse. Were her soul to survive this destruction, the outcome might be much difference-but that is a story for another time.
~Has bright purple "stains" dotting the lower half of her legs- the result of her soul being ripped from her body.
~ Capable of running in extremely fast bursts of speed for the duration of a few seconds. This saps the energy out of her, and is therefore much more effective after she has rested. Accidentally discovered this ability while being chased by Kaars; unsure of how to use it again. May only be vaguely aware that it exists. (Represented by stomping the hoof and suddenly running.)
~ Can emit a long, threatening hissing sound in order to frighten others away. Most likely done as a sign of annoyance, or a true warning to get back. Has only done this once so far. (Represented by taunt and a moo, or taunt and antlers; more likely the latter.)
~ Seems to be able to go without water for a day or two. When she does drink, however, she must drink in large quantities in order to compensate for this.
~ Secretly craves physical contact. Will often sit a short distance away from others to be polite, but loves cuddling and welcomes any means to do so.

Oh yes, I think observant is a better way to describe her at this stage. Not cold or indifferent in particular, just taking in everything she can. And yanno, every player can protest against it as much as they want, but we all slip a little bit of ourselves into characters. Usually spontaneously, not intentional; all of our IC characters have OOC moments. So don't worry too much about that, it happens! c:

What I meant is that I think she shares some of my personality; not OOCly, just kind of happened.
And really? That is pretty interesting to think about. ♥

"You've already seen that sort of thing? Someone as young as you?... I'm sorry."
Seed looked worried or regretful at that; the two expressions, on his face, would have looked rather similar. Then it melted into a soft smile.

Seed said, as serious as he could muster. So... Not really particularly stern and foreboding at all.. He sounded kind of worried. He wasn't some great protector, or a shield against the world. There didn't seem to be a lot of those anymore, anyway. He just wanted to be a good person. And good people didn't let innocent fawns blame themselves.
As for the language...That was an easier one, and one he could take on with a proper smile.
"Yes, I suppose so. I do a lot of things with words for people to enjoy. So I need to know a lot of words and ideas."
Proud: It most certainly

Seed knew maybe this was a tough idea for someone so young... But he didn't want her burdened by that sort of self-blame at such an early age. Even if she didn't know how to use what he was telling her until much later... If one day, she could save herself some pain and guilt by remembering that... He'd be happy. So he smiled reassuringly.
"They'll get easier as you learn. But as for how to make them enjoyable... When I say a word like 'green,' you can picture it inside your head, right?"
"Maybe. But whatever nice or
A slight sadness, perhaps, could be heard in the young fawn`s voice. Perhaps not as much a sadness as a misunderstanding. The fawn was quite young-barely a week old-and she had already seen much. It was hard to understand for even the cleverest of fawns.
Ok. Will do. Green-what green? Never heard green before. It some type of creature?"

Seed moved a little closer to the fawn in response to that pained look, trying to offer her some warmth, what comfort being close to someone could offer from the cold of your own thoughts.
"They're reacting to you, yes... But they decide what they will do. That responsibility is theirs...You shouldn't blame yourself for their actions. You only hurt yourself, doing that...And it gets to be a habit. You can't stop blaming yourself, so you can't stop hurting... I'm telling you this because I want to protect you from that, I suppose."
His expression was tender, maybe a little self-derisive. Yes, the stag who still could not practice what he preached, who still blamed himself for all sorts of things beyond his power... Was certainly him, and it'd be a shame to see a little fawn turn out that way. To get a more sincere smile, he decided to offer some praise:
"But I'm glad you want to protect people. I think that's very nice of you."
After all, that someone was nice...That was something only they could be responsible for. Anyway, onto the simpler matter of vocabulary, which he preferred to heavier philosophy.
"Green's a color, actually. It's the color of most of my body....And the color of the leaves and grass this time of year, too. How many colors do you know?"
(Aww, that sucks! Sometimes
The fawn blinked, contemplating this. Just a few days ago, she had tracked down a stranger who had been harassing her and other deer. It had attacked her... and maybe she has tracked him down, but she hadn`t actually done anything. Still, she knew what she had been getting into...
"I guess. Many deer so different. Thought that what I did cause reaction. But also react even when I stand there. Like being with others. But get confusing when they chase away. Maybe wait until better time.
And maybe. But if deer get into fight, it because them. Have to let fight own fight, unless they might really get hurt. Or if they small. Then help.... like help, but can`t fight other fight that belong to other deer.
Really? That interesting... Colors? Don`t know much about colors. Know black and white. That it. See shapes, shapes have different shades. Them colors?"

((Ugh, my connection's too
"It's complicated... You can cause a person to react, but their reaction is something only they get to make. I think thinking about things that way makes it more important to do your best to be kind...And...I'm glad you feel that way, about fighting."
He nods.
"Right, those are colors...Oh, but you mentioned red earlier. That's a color, too."
The fawn nodded slowly.
Red? That a color? Okay. There are lot of other colors?"

He explained excitedly, a big grin spreading over his features. If no one stopped him, he probably would have gone into linguistic color theory...Though he did, at least, manage to stop himself.
"Well, OK. Look up. See the color of the sky? That's 'blue.' Now, can you think of other things you've seen that have a color that's sort of like that? There's a few things in the forest, but not a lot."

Seed looked less confident on the subject of math; he was an artist and a fan of language. Numbers, the difficulty of talking about numbers in terms of anything but those numbers, made him unhappy with the whole matter of math. So he launched back into color with enthusiasm.
"Ah, the lake. That's right, water is often blue when there's a lot of it. There's also a lot of blue berries in the part of the forest you mentioned before, the Birch Forest. Those might taste better -- they at least have a taste, anyway."
It was taking a lot of his willpower not to talk about the linguistic construction of color and the different distinctions different languages draw and what that says about them. Because that would just go over the fawn's head.
((I am enjoying the heck out of this relationship.))

When there`s a lot? What if not as much water? Then what color? And blueberry. Blue berry. It named for its color?"

Seed laughed uneasily. He did
"Well, can you count to ten? Because a hundred is what you get if you have ten tens, and a thousand is what happens when you get ten hundreds... But there's really very few things in the forest you can talk about with thousands...That's...something you may want to have someone else explain; I'm no good at numbers."
Again, he turned to colors to be his salvation.
"When there's not a lot of water, it's clear, and doesn't have a color unless there's a lot of mud or algea -- you can see through it to what's on the bottom. And yes, blue berries are named that because they're blue."
That she's caught onto this makes him very happy.
Erari blinked. "Sound
"Clear? Clear is color? Sound weird.... like if have clear vision, you can see lots of stuff. So maybe clear is lot of color? And ok. Are there other things named for color?"

That was a complicated thing, but she seemed interested in coming up with some ideas about the world, and that was encouraging.
"Let's see...In the forest here, there's not a lot of things named for color, though most people might call flowers like the ones I grow just 'purple flowers' instead of a real name. Actually, the other way around is more common -- like oranges, which are a type of fruit, but eventually became the word for a color that's sort of a mix of red and yellow. That color became Orange, because people said 'Oh, hey, it's the same color as these fruits.'"

The fawn tilted her head. "Clear. Sometimes I see...things moving in water. Does mean water sometimes clear. So since you green, I can`t see through you?
I do think I saw different flower colors. Big stone thing has red flowers. Then purple flowers all around. Walk around them all the time. And that strange...so old colors can come together and make new ones?"
