For your convenience, I have put my long-winded rant in a scrollbox (and under the cut!) so if you don't want to read it, you don't have to! 8D
My scanner made this look
a lot crappier than it really is :/
Her hair and eyes are about the right color, but everything else is UGH.
I couldn't find nice colors for the feathers, either. I had two lovely friends suggest what colors they could be, but I sort of.. butchered them, obviously.
Mmmf, my nose is bleeding ;;
I
can
never
ever
color
things
smoothly.
It ALWAYS looks like I used a Crayon.
I can try sharpening my colored pencils, but that doesn't help.
Color with less pressure? Nope.
Color with more pressure? Nope.
Color with even pressure in one direction? NOPE.
Maybe it's the paper's fault e_e
Yeah, let's just say that.
My art teacher in highschool would continuously dock me points because I can't color for crap. Even when I use expensive Prismacolors that are supposed to BLEND, I, for some unfathomable reason, could NEVER make them blend. EVEN WHEN I HAD THE EFFING BLENDING PENCIL, THEY WOULDN'T BLEND.
AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON INKING.
I ALWAYS ruin a decent picture with my poor excuse of inking.
My mom went through the trouble of finding me needle-thin inking pens and of course I thanked her up and down for them, but can I properly use them?
OFCOURSENOT.
One of them constantly and irregularly BLEEDS while you're using it, so your .25 line will turn into a blot made by a freakin Sharpie, and the other one just refuses to work at all.
So what did I use?
A ballpoint pen.
A FREAKIN
BALL
POINT
PEN.
That's all that I had that worked! And GOD I still butchered it beyond belief.
This picture LOOKED FINE until I thought I'd be all cutesy and TRY to ink it, try to color it, TRY TO MAKE IT LOOK JUST A LITTLE BIT NICER.
I HAVE A TABLET AND PHOTOSHOP FOR A REASON. WHY AM I NOT USING THEM?
-flops over-
Thats cute! I like the hair!!
In response to your rant, I'm
The texture of the paper is also not helping with the coloring. There is a way around this though: try layering the colors of the colored pencils. Color a base color, then choose another color that's similar to color over it. It will make it smoother and richer. You might need to press harder with the layered colors too. I kill my fingers a lot when I use colored pencils. |D
It's more work, sure, but it helps.
Thank you, Tenley! c: I'm
Pegaaaa~
I'll definitely try that, but don't be dissapointed if you never see a traditionally colored picture from me again; I've had problems with coloring ever since I was a tiny fishling |D
(this paper is just TERRIBLE ;; -bites it- )
your welcome ^^
