The Disconnected- A short story

A mass of honey brown fur stirred, nestled next to two large boulders. With blurry eyes the creature lifted its head, accidentally knocking it upon one of the boulders, it winced at the pain. The confused creature looked around at the bright stones, as its mind cleared the rocks became more distinct. Blinking its eyes at the large statues it quickly recognized them as being very human in appearance. On unsteady legs the creature stood up. The creature quickly knew that something had changed with his form "....four...legs?!" Panic quickly spread itself through it's mind. Shock and fear glazed over the creature's eyes as it ran off in a wobbly sprint, blind to its surroundings. It's heart convulsed in it's large chest. The creature's legs had quickly failed and the creature fell upon the earth. The creature lied there, sprawled upon the ground, realization sinking in. The creature lied in silence a long while. The creature stood, and began to walk. How long the creature walked was unknown, hours, days, it was impossible to tell, for all times the sunlight filtered through the leaves. The creatures soon was sure it was going mad, surely it had not seen the same thing twice? The creature's head began twisting in all directions, everything, everything looked the same as before! unable to comprehend, the creature once again took off, oblivious to all his senses, The whites of his eyes became clearly visible upon near collision with a tree, the deer looked behind its self in amazement, had, had it just ran through that tree? All this was too much, the creature's mind could not take it. It began a slow walk, head hung low, the creature continued walking until it had come across a small pond. The creature stepped into the chilled waters and lowered its long neck down and drank, though itthirsty, despite the fact its been days, but it drank anyway. After taking its fill of water a thought spurned in the depths of the creature's mind. It backed up several feet, then took off at a sprint towards the middle of the pond, with a massive leap the creature's large body was lifted from the ground, before plummeting into the cold waters. The creature, to it's surprise, was swimming through the water with ease, its fur had been shed and replaced with a smooth skin. A horrific miracle had taken place. In shock, the creature swam back to shore, returning to its original form upon reaching the shallows, it's fur now thick and heavy with water. The creature stared down at it's cool reflection upon the waters silvery surface. Only the creature's face was a trace of what it once was, tears now flowing freshly from its eyes. It laid down in the waters, sitting there what would seem eternity, aninescapable eternity, in a forest with a population of only the creature and its madness. It was not until much later that something had dawned on the creature, it took its leave and began into the forest. The creature approached the statues from before, and once again tears slid down its face. Though, it was different this time, the creature was smiling. The creature backed away several meters from the giant rocks, and lowered its antlers. Suddenly, the creature sped into a gallop and threw itself headfirst at the statues. The creature's body slumped to the ground, a stream of crimson running through its thick fur, as it lye before the once beautiful white stones, and bled away.

This short story was created by me while my computers internet was down and I was wandering through the forest disconnected. Sorry if its not very good, its long past 12:00 am. But I hope it was at least somewhat good to read =) And yes, the deer did die in the end, he had crushed his skull by ramming it into the twin statues, which are among the few things that you can't directly walk through
