Akea woke up in her den, the rain dripping into her den. It was time to find her to go the the spring plane, to be chosen by a buck. She got up and walked out side, smelling the humid air. She always loved the smell of rain. She walked through the forest, birds chirping.

Years past, and Akea grew up to adulthood. She bent her head down to drink from the already un-freezing pond. Winter had been long, and now it was spring. Her parents have grown old, and it was now time to find herself her own den. Kota had grown too, and was with her drinking from the pond. Starlight was there too, but she was away from them, and was glareing at Akea. " So, where should we look for dens?" Akea asked, looking at them. " I have no clue." Kota said, lifting his head from the pond. Starlight stood up and walked to them " Well, whatever we find, mine will be bigger and better then your's." She snorted, looking at Akea. Akea shruged, and said " So? I jsut need a den to stay in before the storm set's in." Starlight snorted again, and ran off, searching for a den. Kota stared after her, then said to Akea "Want to search for a den together?" Akea looked at him, sitting down. " Sure."
Kota and Akea ran through the forest, the trees wipping past them. A tree stood before them, a den formed below it. "Well, here we are." He said, steping closer to Akea. " Yes, now where is you'r den?" She asked, looking at him. He shruged, and nuzzled her. " I'll find one." With that, he ran off. Akea sighed, and ducked into her own den. It was clean, and rocks formed the den's ground. Akea gathered grass and moss, and made it into a deer bed. She layed down and watched the storm set in, rain pattered on the den's roof. She sighed, and wondered about the spring time plane, where bucks would choose their mate. Who will choose her?

Akea walked along the side of the river, her mother on her side. They where going to the plane, where all the doe's went with their young to play around and talk. Akea's mother stoped at the middle of it all, and all the doe's turned to stare. " What. are. you?" A snobish doe asked, looking at Akea's mother. Her mother scowled " Don't you know a Elk when you see one?" She snaped, and the doe backed up. A doe steped forward, her face kind " I'm guessing your new here. Let me help you around." She said, her voice very kind. " I'm not new, I just haven't been here for years." Akea's mother said, looking down at Akea. Akea looked around the plane, seeing many fawns there. She frowned as she spoted Starlight, next to the doe that first spoke to her mother. She guessed that she was Starlight's mother. Akea nuged her mothers leg and said "Let's get out of here, ma." Starlight smiled wickedly and sneered "I hope you leave, for you are a sight for sore eyes....rabbit." Akea narrowed her eyes, opening her mouth to say something. Her mother nughed her side, warning her not to say anything. She closed her mouth, and followed her mother off the plane. She walked with her mother till they got to their den. She sighed and sat by the pond, her eyes dull and gloomly. Her mother sighed, and ducked her head on her way into the den. Akea was so deep in her thoughts, that she didn't notice Kota sit by her, very close. " Are you alright?" He asked, looking at her with soft eyes.
Akea looked at him with sad, puppy dog eyes. " Starlight, s-she so mean..." She said, her ears drooping. Kota rested his head on her shoulder, closing his eyes " I know...I know..."

Akea woke up, her mother and father asleep across the den. She stood up and yawned, going outside. It was dawn, the sun turning everything gold. She saw her firiend, kota, with Starlight at his side. They both looked up at Akea as she strolled outside. Kota smiled, Starlight scowled. " Akea! Over here!" Kota called, standing up. Akea smiled and walked over to him. " Hello! Hi starlight." She said, looking over at starflight. Starflight's scowl deepend, and she said in a hard voice " Akea." Akea gave her an odd look and sat on the other side of Kota. Kota nuzzled Akea's side and pointed to the pond next to them. Akea smiled and jumped in, making a huge splash. Kota laughed and jumped in after her. Starlight looked at Akea in anger as water splashed on her. " YIP!" She screeched, jumping up. " Don't get water on me!" She said in a shrill voice. Kota gave her a look. " Are you ok?" He asked, tilting his head. Akea swam next to him, kicking out behind her. Frogs jumped out of the way as Kota jumped out of the water with Akea at his side, and sat down at the bank. Akea sneezed as a water droplet from a leaf above her hit her nose. " Is she always like this?" Akea wisperd to Kota. Kota shruged and wisperd back " I hope not." Akea droped the matter and looked at the screaming Starlight. " Then how did she get this way?" Akea thought as she watched Starlight jump away to her den, disapering from site. " Come on!" Kota yelled back at Akea, jumping in the pond. Akea giggled and jumped in after him, frogs jumping out of the way. All of the day Akea and Kota played, untill the sun went down. Akea and Kota went home, saying goodbye. With starlight watching everything that was happing.

Akea jumped around the den, her newly found mother and father watching with love and pride. This was the first time Akea had jumped, and she was now a pro at it. She stummbled and fell with a yelp, blowing a leaf from her nose. She smiled at her adopted parents, got up and sat down by the den entrance. " How come I don't look like you." Akea asked, looking back at her large,Elk parents. The Doe sighed, and said with a suppresed smile. " Your just a bit small for your size, Akea." Akea tilted her head, looking closely at her own pelt and theirs. Her pelt was a dark, dark brown with spots on them. She had a very, very white undertail. She looked at her parents, and they where a lighter brown, with all white tails and they where much bigger then any adult deer she had seen. She got up and walked out of the den, sniffing around. A pond reached out before her. frogs jumping from lillypads, making all kinds of sounds. She looked up, and saw many fawns. They glanced at her, and one boy fawn troted over to her. She gulped as the fawn approched. It was big for it's size, but it was clearly still a deer. " Who are you?" He asked, looking down at her with somewhat-kind eyes. She stood up, her head held high. " Akea." She anwserd. The fawn nodded, and said. " My names Kota, and this is Chris, Paled, and Starflight." He nodded to the other fawns as he said out there names. All of them smiled and said hello..... all of them, execpt starflight. " Charmed." Starflight said, holding her nose up in the air, like Akea was nothing more then a bug. Akea didn't seem to notice, and she jumped around with the others, playing around till the sun went down. She said goodbye to all of her newly made friends, and turned and left. Kota looked back at her as he left too, and smiled. Then he bounded off with his mother. Akea ducked in her head as she enterd the den. Her mother smiled, and said warmly " So?
