She was having one of those days again.
It was dark in the Forest, warm and muggy, with rain sprinkling down. Lightning was crackling down like a flickering candle. It was always the lightning that set her off. Tonight, she'd come up with an even better stunt then usual. One of the old willow trees had been struck by lightning and had fallen into the Pond. It had taken time, but by now she was balancing eloquently atop the highest bow as it sank into the Pond, laughing madly.
From the edge, Pandemonium could see a doe and a fawn watching her progress. She recognized the older one - Emiva. A friend to her friends, on her good days. The little fawn looked absolutely terrified. Maybe he thought she'd be rounded up one the tree had gone under completely. She snorted derisively at the thought, giggling even harder. As
if.
They'd blame the lightning strike. They always did. They said it was what had set her off, made her lose her mind. And maybe it had. Her crazed eyes roved around, searching for nothing in particular under her grinning mask. At any rate, she'd changed as soon as the charge had whipped through her body. According to her friends, she was worse, but she felt better then ever.
Emiva cast one nervous look at her before ushering the fawn away. She knew enough not to talk to the Mistress of Chaos in this stage. Everyone did. Cackling wildly, Pandemonium hopped to another branch as the tree sunk lower. Maybe she wasn't killing anyone, but it was enough to give her a good laugh.
And that was all she needed.

Wasn't sure if this was a prologue or a chapter, so I'm doing this in parts. XD This is it until the weekend's over. Enjoy!
