The neck doesn't look bad actually! If you're interested in it looking old might I suggest using a darker brown color for the blood (since blood does not dry red, it dries a very dark) and for the actual wound itself, perhaps try a lighter skin-tone (if you want the wound to look like a scar instead of a fresh, bleeding wound).

I want to cuddle this and dress the wound.


Don't be afraid to use other colors on wounds besides red. You can even use violets, blues, greens, and yellows to make it look more gruesome. Yellows go good for old bruises.
