Abyss.

It truly has been 300 years. 300 years since my body formed and molded itself into what it is today. 300 years since my name was first whispered as a casual greeting to all who witnessed.

300 years later, and the Forest has hardly changed. Humans are gone. That is the only huge change. Deer still come and go, frolicking and idling. Young ones still cling to the adults, and the adults still teach the young the ways of the Forest.

I must confess, when night falls upon the Forest, I often find myself wandering in an abyss. The ground is black, moonlight scattered here and there. I often ponder what will become of the Forest in the future. I often wonder if the same deer will be here. I often wonder if this world will die.

Ah, but I have rambled on too much. If it is one thing all should know, it is that you shouldn't worry too much. Look at the past briefly, but do not let it grip you. Look forward to the future, but do not fear it. Live in the present...

...but do not let it falter your ways.
