Nadya had been enjoying the rut. It was exciting and a allowed her to meet others but for now she needed a rest. She wandered away from the herds to a quieter spot beneath a tree and tall grasses. With a soft sigh the doe settled down there and took in the comforting silence. It was so relaxing, much different than her first time here when she had been so afraid of everything and everyone. Her human mind was now on the back burner and her deer soul was in full control. She still had her human memories but chose to accept her new fate and go on living. It is what her family would want she supposed.

Tale, on the other hand, was on the tail-end of a getaway. One of the many rutting stags in the area had decided that having an unknown fawn wandering around was no way to attract does, and ne'd been running for what seemed like hours. Wheezing, Tale finally skidded to a stop behind a wide tree, crouching and ducking her head around the tree's base to check on her pursuer. Thankfully, it seemed he'd given up, and the fawn let out a weak sigh of relief, turning nir head back around. Unfortunately, this was about the time that ne noticed the doe currently relaxing in the tall grass, and the fawn, still wired from the chase, let out a surprised bleat, scrabbling as far back as ne could.
Shaking, Tale stared at the unknown doe with wide, blank eyes, nir cloudy vision making nir even more frightened. Gulping, the fawn's ears twitched wildly, hoping to make up for what ne couldn't see with what ne could hear. "H-hello? W-who're you?"
The small bleat surprised her and she turned her head in the direction the small yell came from. A tiny fawn could be seen scrambling back a little ways. What had spooked it so? She couldn't have done it could she? Rising from her spot she walked slowly towards the little one. "Don't be afraid I will not harm you. I'm Nadya, who are you" she said with a soft voice. Much like what she'd use to coax a frightened dog or cat when she was human. She even lay down half way towards the little one to not frighten it further.

Tale's ears twitched forward to catch the doe's soft voice, and the fawn relaxed a bit, refraining from flinching back when the doe stepped forward. "I-I'm Tale," ne murmured, staring at the doe a bit more before relaxing fully and shaking nir body like a wet dog, getting rid of the post-chase jitters. "S-sorry, ma'am, y-you scared me. Somebody didn't like me bein' around his herd," ne explained with a blush, sneezing on some of the dust ne'd kicked up during nir landing. "What're you doin' out here? Did they chase you too?"
[lol no problem, I haven't even found a color code for Tale. x'D]
Nadya smiled feeling better that she wasn't the main reason he was scared." Nice to meet you Tale and no need to apologize little one. No, I just am avoiding the rut for now. Would you like to enjoy the peace and quiet with me?" She asked motioning back to the soft patch of grass she had been laying in. "We could avoid the rut together"she added with a laugh. The little one seemed not so scared anymore. In a way Tale reminded her of her brother. He had that sort of energy and could go from one emotion to another in the blink of an eye.

Tale blinked at the hospitality, grinning after a beat. "Thank you," the fawn murmured, trotting over to the doe's side and settling down in the grass beside her. "Everybody's going crazy," ne observed with a giggle. "The only stag I know that's not is Guard, but he's only a little bigger than me," ne added in a whisper, as if sharing a secret. "Everybody seems to stay clear of the old humming tree, so that's where he and I stay," ne shared with a smile. "You can stay there with us, if you want! Nobody stays angry around there."
Nadya smiled when the fawn joined her,"Oh the old oak? I'll remember that thank you"she said nuzzling the top of his head with the tip of her nose. She lifted her head up and sighed,"yes they are crazy, I was a judge yesterday...found a wonderful herd very kind and not crazy" she giggled,"after that things got very confusing so today I plan to be a bit more cautious and observant"she giggled again. Looking back at the tiny thing she wondered where it's mother was for a moment. "This must be a frightening time for you, where is your mother?"she asked though she hopped it wasn't a sensitive topic.

Tale basked in the affection - after all, it was rare to receive it, considering ne wasn't related to anyone in the forest. "Yeah, that's it. It's all... hummy and stuff," ne murmured, relaxed under the warm afternoon sun. "I'll follow your lead," the fawn said with a giggle, ears twitching lazily. "I think I'll stick with Guard," ne added, rubbing at one of nir eyes sleepily.
At the mention of nir mother, Tale twitched, chewing on nir lip and glancing away. "I don't know. One day I woke up and I was near the oak, and my herd was gone. I couldn't find them anywhere," the fawn admitted with a distressed frown. "We must've gotten separated, somehow..."
"Oh..I...am so sorry to hear that...you can stay with me if you'd like I wouldn't want you to get hurt" she said offering a sweet smile. It saddened her to hear of such a young being all alone with no mother. To grow up without one must be terrible and lonely.

The fawn shook off nir mood and smiled at the doe, tail twitching a bit at the kindness. "It's alright! I wouldn't want to be a burden. Besides, when I'm big and strong, I'll find my herd!" Ne said it so confidently that it was hard to doubt, and the little fawn grinned as a few birds overhead took off at the sudden exclamation.
"They've gotta be around somewhere... but I like it here, for now. It's... peaceful. At least when the rut's not going on," Tale added with a roll of nir eyes and a giggle.
Nadya smiled,"Well that's that spirit don't you lose that determination" she said cheering the little fawn on. It was better than pitying him that was for sure. She watched as the birds flew over head and smiled. It was peaceful and just plain wonderful to be in the forest. "Well if you ever want company I'm your girl" she laughed and nudged the little fawn tickling him in the spot between the ear and jaw.

Tale grinned at the encouragement, perking up even more at the attention. "You'll have to meet Guard sometime! He'd like you, you're nice like him," ne said, nodding confidently. "He's small like me, but he's not hiding from the rut," ne whispered in confidence.
"I think he's secretly as big as a house, but everybody just sees him as tiny. He's as strong n' brave as the big stags!"
She giggled,"I'd love to. I am pretty new here and don't have any friends" she said feeling a bit embarrassed by the fact. "I joined the rut to see if I could meet anyone new and make some friends, so far it's going alright" she said with a laugh.

Tale smiled encouragingly at the doe, ears and tail twitching happily. "You can stick with me n' Guard! Although you two might be alone in the rut," ne admitted with an uneasy wrinkle of nir nose. "There aren't many does without fawns or mates, or fawns without herds. It can get a bit messy."
She smiled and nudged the fawn with her muzzle,"You are just too darn sweet. I may take you up on that when my main leader isn't around" she said nuzzling him again. Yes this fawn was just far too much like her brother. It made talking with him so much easier and even her playful nudges didn't seem awkward.

Tale giggled, tail twitching rapidly. "I love exploring! We could go see the forest," ne suggested happily, eyes wide with the possibilities. "I haven't seen a bunch of it 'cause of all the herds in the way..."
