Once more he looked down at

Once more he looked down at her, frowning. This time there was not only confusion in his face but also a certain look of pity. "I am sorry Miss... I don't understand..." once again her words didn't make sense to him. Maybe she was feverish. "Are you feeling alright...?" he asked, a little helpless now.

Vittani ears pricked up

Vittani ears pricked up slowly. "Yes... no... I... I do not know," she said jerkily. On what was asked? "As I sat on the hard beetle and I could not shake..." she added. "I just do not know: but I know what will one day become. Already happened."

He shook his head, let out a sight, slightly frustrated. "I am sorry Miss... I don't understand you." he said, helpless again.
For a moment he hesitated, then he bent forward and down to her, wanting to check for her temperature. Maybe she cought a cold in this rain.. and fever... could happen easily with those injuries weakening her.

"It's good that you do not

"It's good that you do not understand. Really well," she said. When he bent down, pulled back a bit from a distance in order to find out what he really is.

When she pulled back from him, he did the same, turning his face away in the same movement. "My aplogies. I just wanted to check your temperature..." he mumbled, now slightly embarressed.

Igaston carefully leaned

Igaston carefully leaned against a tree, so easily it looked like he was still standing. The uneasiness of this new stag shook his bones. "Call me whatever you like. I don't mind. As long as it's nothing proper." He suddenly chuckled, quietly, still loud enough to be heard. But after the laughter was gone, the tiny smile stayed, and he felt better now. His bad thoughts were gone and now he felt less awkward. With that one point of defiance from beyond the grave, all of his bad juju vanished.
Then the stag asked to leave, and Iggy's ears flattened to his head instantly. "N-no! Don't go! .. please... Un-unless you want to.." His eyes had been wide and alarmed at the beginning of the sentence, but then eased and fell to the forest floor again. His lower lip was taken into his teeth once more. "D-don't be sorry. I'm the one making things awkward." The latter sentence was said under his breath.

"Temperature? I have a

"Temperature? I have a temperature?" she asked, a little confused. "What have you decided?"

@Kasmir: 'Call me whatever

@Kasmir:

'Call me whatever you like' - this request seemet to be to much for the albino. He would felt most comfortable to call this stranger 'Sir'... cought in this slight dilemma he stared at him for a few moments... until he noticed he was staring. Quickly he lowered his eyes to the ground again. He cleared his throat again.
"I doubt it's your fault, S..." he swallowed the word down again. It was really hard to fight against those habits. "... I am the one that... behaves inaproppriate." he cleared his throat again, ears sinking a little more. Where was the hole to creep in, when one needet it?
... and why was the presence of this stranger that unsettling?

@Rhhya:

"I... don't know. That's what I wanted to see... if you have fever..." once again he frowned. "Decided? What should I decide?"

"That I have a fever," she

"That I have a fever," she told him. It became apparent that sometimes seems to speak of the way, or if it is mixed up words and place those wishing to use, simply apply another. Significance was ultimately does the same. She looked at him and slowly heaved a sigh of relief. "That you've decided."
Beteigeuze's picture

This time her words made

This time her words made sense to him. Or at least, he thought he discovered some sense. He shake his head slowly. "No... I don't 'decide' this. I 'think' it... you are injured and it is rainy and cold. It is possible, that you cought a cold. Fever is a sign of this... and I wanted to see if you have a fever." once again his voice became silent as he spoke on.

"I see. Do you attention to

"I see. Do you attention to more things than I do," she said gently.
Kasmir's picture

He coughed, his pale eyes

He coughed, his pale eyes shifted to outright stare at the stag. He assessed him. He had gotten used to the brightness of his pelt; it didn't sting his eyes anymore. Betei seemed to feel as awkward as him. His words were so carefully selected, as if he was afraid Iggy was snap at him if he said something out of line. Ig's brow furrowed, wondering why. He looked away then, clearing his throat feebly, not being able to see anything else about the stag just then.
"Auhm. Call me sir, if it's really bothering you not to." He whispered, still looking at the ground. "Oh, don't say that. You're fine. I'm just.." Emotionally unstable and can't be around other people without them feeling awkward. he clamped his jaw shut, his heart sinking down. That was why his old butlers and maids would strike his so often, pin him down and beat him; because he wasn't a proper son for their master.
Iggy sighed.
Beteigeuze's picture

@Rhhya: He nodded silently.

@Rhhya:

He nodded silently. "I was tought to put attention on things like that." ... ironically, to look away at the same time... in some way. But of course he didn't say that.

@Kasmir:

Even now, with having the 'permission' to use this once certain word... he didn't feel much more relaxed. Actually the awkwardness was only increased. A dilemma he couldn't find a way out, it seems. Once again his eyes shifted up and down, dared to stay at the strangers face for only a few moments. The rest of his body, though, stayed perfectly motionless.
"You.... are just...?" he dared to ask, clearing his throat because his voice wanted to fail him.
"Is there something I can do for you?" once more habit forced him to ask this question.
Kasmir's picture

The question rattled him. I

The question rattled him. I am just... He opened his mouth to answer, but only a tiny little sound fell out. "I am just... not someone people want to be around." His eyes immediately drifted to his scars. Usually, he had the need to tear open his skin all the time, but hadn't while he was with this other deer. Maybe talking distracted him. He set his jaw. That could be.. he didn't talk much. "No.. I don't think so. I don't there's anything anyone can do for me." He sighed. "Is there anything I can do for you?" He realized that might be rude of him, and he mumbled another apology; short, and under his breath.
Beteigeuze's picture

The albino had noticed the

The albino had noticed the scars on the other, but he had learned long time ago to not to think about things like that. All he should care for was to follow orders... and not to stick his nose where it doesn't belong. Silently he listened to the other stag, not quite sure what to say... or if he should say something at all... then the last question let his head shoot up.
Instead of answering, he just stared at him, his mouth fell slightly open. It was rare someone asked him this question... in fact he couldn't really remember when it had happened the last time.
... it was long ago... and the situation wasn't pleasant. Not at all.
After several moments he noticed that he had stared at the other for quite some time now. Quickly his eyes shot down to the ground again. "..I...I.... n...no." he scattered out an answer.
Kasmir's picture

The suprised-ness of the

The suprised-ness of the other deer made him draw him head back in suprise. And frown. He eased his head back forward, looking straight into the eyes of the other deer. "Is... is kindness really that foreign to you?" he asked in a shaky voice. Myabe he was like him. Abused and broken and trained. The hought sickened him. He tried to push the thoughts out of his head. All of them. But it was so hard. Tears began to well in his eyes, his jaw fell open. Little, light, tortured sounds fell out. He snapped his jaw shut, looked at the ground. "I'm.. I'm sorry... please don't go." he whispered. This is what he meant by emotionally unstable. He couldn't control anything. And people hated him for it. He really didn't want Betei to leave, though. He was the only deer in a long time to talk to him without judging him or just... ignoring him completely.
"What happened to you? You're not mean and judging like the others. Why?" He wouldn't say he hadn't expienced people being ugly to him in the human world, but here.. it was so different here. It made his head spin. Iggy felt awful, but he forced his head up and plastered a smile on his tear streaked face.
Beteigeuze's picture

This stranger asked quite

This stranger asked quite unsettling questions. It became difficult to maintain his distant look. "No, it isn't." he answered quietly. He heart a strange noise from the other. Another glance to him let him notice a faint shine in the stag's eyes. "I don't go if you don't wish me to." he added quickly, slightly confused about the apology now.
The awkwardness about the following question and the sudden burs of tears let his face grew a little more distant again, eyes shifting around, slightly nervous.
"I... It's not for me to judge about anyone, nor to utter or have inappropriate thoughts and opinions." he mumbled again.

"Who tried to bring up?"

"Who tried to bring up?" Vittani slowly lifted her head. Chin rested her own back and watched him. "One good, I'm right? Certainly you did not bring to you on this one... heeded. Perhaps your parents.."

He tilted his head again, trying to order her words for him. "N...no. My parent's.... didn't teach me..." he mumbled, biting his lip.

"Really? I do not believe

"Really? I do not believe this," yawned Vittani and tired eyes glassy with a strange expression on him. "Who else is able to bring something... so kind and worthy...?"
Beteigeuze's picture

Another slight frown appeared

Another slight frown appeared on his forehead. This was actually a topic he didn't like to talk about. His ears sunk lower, while his head went a little higher. It almost sounded like mockery when she spoke about his 'apprenticeship' like this. 'Kind and worthy'... living for others, never for oneself, constant sacrifice and the feeling of guilt and shame, never to be good enough...

...even those bitter but true thoughts let his mind squirm with guilt. "I had teachers at my master's house." he answered dull and simple.

"So you brought someone other

"So you brought someone other than your parents?" she asked intently Vittani. Woke her pleasant manner. She like to listen when someone is talking. Learned. She tried to understand the words that vote, but most of the time it was just for her story. Eyes sometimes closed or moved her head to indicate that she is conscious and that it is still listening. "That's the one... I've got 'master', but rather I am his mistress." she said after a moment. Her voice failed to end as coughed violently.
Beteigeuze's picture

"Yes. I was brought

"Yes. I was brought elsewhere." he answered silent. 'Sold' would have been the right term. But he didn't want to use it... it made him feel even more misrable about his past. He turned his head slightly towards her. "You are... a mistress? I fear.. I don't understand." how can one be master and slave at the same time?

"It's simple. Mutual aid...

"It's simple. Mutual aid... Meanwhile, he brings the food to me, as I shout, and sometimes it is he who yells at me and calls me after work." she said.
Beteigeuze's picture

"That rather sounds like

"That rather sounds like marriage..." he muttered... immediately biting his tongue and lowering his head afterwards. "I am sorry, I didn't... mean to be respectless." he added hastily.

"Marriage??? What it is,

"Marriage??? What it is, 'marriage'? This word yet I not know. No. I'm all for them as pets... They tell me that I was a 'biiig jagged goat.'" she replied. "He sees and is badly dated, but to all the animals he has, it behaves nicely. Cares about them, giving them food and shelter. Sometimes I'm going after him." she replied. "What it is 'goat'?"
Beteigeuze's picture

His eyes where ringing a bit

His eyes where ringing a bit from the flood of words. They fell down, while he was thinking about the answers. "M...marriage is... two people promise each other to stay together forever." he tried his best... her next words now made a little more sense. Maybe she flet from some kind of farm...? But what farm has creatures like her? He shook his head slightly. This was not his business.

"A... goat... is... an animal." he mumbled. "Like... a sheep but without wool. And they have little horns." he tried his best again to answer her question.

"I am too small. And I got

"I am too small. And I got horns. Therefore I am a goat?" she asked. It sounded a little hopeful, as if she had a tiny chance that after all the species not extinct and then slowly lifted her head from her back with an enthusiastic expression in those glassy eyes.

"The sheep I know! ... they is outside in the yard. These are hairy and white... well... almost... almost like clouds! These are the sheep?"

Igaston, on some level, could

Igaston, on some level, could tell he was making Beteigeuze uncomfortable. It bothered him, but at the same time he found it hard to care. He had to remind himself that Betei had never done him an unkindness, and he should be slightly more upset about making him nervous.
Iggy cleared his throat. "You're kidding, right? Everyone judges everyone on some level. Look, I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable. It seems I have a tendency to do that."
He sat down, sighing. Ig's tears were gone now. "Who told you you're not aloud the have opinions? That's.. bull." He said. Iggy's mood swings often went like this; nervous/quiet/void of emotion to sad to opinionated to happy. Usually hyper took the place of happy. It was very hard for the stag to feel joy. And.. He happened to be very opinionated right now, a little anger welling in him at the thought of people telling other people what they can and can't do. That just hit too far home for him.
"You can say whatever you want, you know. Trust me, I've heard it all before."

"You aren't makeing me uncomfortable, Sir." he lied to, in his assumption, maintain the piecen and to avoid scolding, what certainly wouldn't happen here. Still he couldn't get out of this habits. The next question made him think again. How to answer that, without actually giving away the truth, without revailing too much.?
"Everyone." he finally summed it up in one muttered word. "I... have nothing to say..." he then added, a little helpless, since this was usually the truth.

Igaston's eyebrows pulled together. "Yes I am, I can see it in your face. And the way you stand." He scowled slightly. But his response to his question is what confused Ig the most. "Everyone?" His eyes dropped to the forest floor again. He took a few steps back. Remembering was an awful thing.
"I should.. I should go, Betei. I guess I'll.. see you around." It was an abrupt end to the meeting, but Iggy felt like he should leave the poor stag alone now. "I'm sorry for bothering you, Beteigeuze." He muttered, moving away slowly.
