@Bayleen: "who knows?..." A voice. A giggle. "Go through it... find out..."
@faunet: The cold surface bends easily, engulfing you like water or a soft breeze; it is uncertain. Everything is dark for a moment... Then a small light flickers...
@Faunet: The is no reply, only a giggle. The light spreads slowly, revealing a world like the one you just came from... Only in reverse. A world within the mirror.
The tiny light flickers again, lifts itself off the ground, floats in mid-air... The giggle echoes shortly.
@ Bayleen: As the sleek surface is breached, the glass ripples like the still water of a pond. It shatters in long, jagged cracks, following the curves of Mariposa's body. There is no pain, only the faint sensation of a butterfly's wings against her form.
@Ryff: For a moment all is dark... There is a faint sound of galloping hooves... When the dim light of the moon returns, it reveals a brambled mess of vines and overgrown ruins covered in an eerie fog. There is a quiet giggle in the distance...
@Faunet: The tiny ball of light dances in place... beckoning. As much as this world resembles the one you came from, there is a thick feeling of something uncanny surrounding everything... every tree, every rock, even little blade of grass... Nothing seems real.
The light giggles.
Mariposa stands for a moment, listening to the rather muted cracks of the mirror. She watches in shock, and wonder. She takes in a breath that sounds more like a gasp. She faintly feels something against her, but there is nothing. Mari looks forward again into this abyss she has entered.
@faunet: The light flickers and floats in small circles, as if excited... It waits for you to come closer, closer... You can almost touch it... But then it bolts away like a giddy puppy, into the darkness, behind the trees.
It can be seen in faint shimmers between the massive, cool trunks.
@Bayeen: Slowly the darkness dissolves, like moths abandoning an ancient lantern. The doe finds herself standing on a beech, the calming sound of the waves only disturbed by the visage of them; they don't seem to move. As if she had walked right into an ancient painting, yet every time she looks at them, they are in a different position.
A faint giggle echoes through the air that seems still, coming from a cluster of smooth rocks...
The giggle makes me smile ,and even more curious.I notice that the temperature is cold, touching one of the trees its cold as well. How can it be alive I wonder."Is this world real"I ask the light.
Mariposa stares at the waves. It was nothing comapred to the pond in the forest. She had never seen such majestic waters that poured and stretched as far as they could to land, like hands clawing the sand. The doe inhaled as the wind bursted against her side and face, blowing her long, wavy black hair back. The air was fresh and crisp. She smiled.
Then she heard the giggle. Mariposa looked to and fro, her green eyes wide and alert. "Who is there?" she said in a small voice. She ambled forward, feeling the smooth, yet gritty sand beneath her pointed hooves.
@Faunet: The light answers by standing stock still for just a moment, allowing you to catch up slightly... Then giggle again and just continue in its path.
As you walk, the trees become strange... They are still trees, they look exactly like trees, but they just... Don't feel right. There is something otherworldly about them...
@Bayleen: The giggle stopped for a moment... And then, out from between the rocks emerged the shape of a fawn! A small thing, completely hidden in the night, the moon doing nothing to illuminate it. It was a shadow as deep as the space between spaces... And with another giggle it bolted away, disappearing among the rocks yet again, heading into the salty night.
My heart starts to race and I know it's not because of me following the light. It's because of the surroundings."Why don't you speak little light surely you must have a voice"
@Faunet: The giggle and the light stop... it flickers slowly, as if contemplating something... as if overwhelmed by sadness... Suddenly, small, cold drops start falling from the cloudless sky. The giggle returns, lower now, melancholic... And the light bolts into movement again, disappearing behind a cluster of trees.
Mariposa could barely make out the shape. Perhaps a fawn? She heard the abrupt stop of the giggle accompanied by the swish sound of the sand. Have they run away?
Mariposa hesitantly took another step forward, looking around and squinting her eyes to see past the faint moonlight. "Hello? Please come back!...whoever you are." The gentle doe ambled forward, just guessing where the little fawn has fled to. She found herself running now. " I ' m s o l o n e l y ."
@eyestrain: Join in if you want to, there's a new storyline for everyone inside the mirror >w<
@faunet: The giggle is heard faintly from behind the massive trees and as you round a gigantic, gnarly oak, the trees suddenly stop being recognisable as trees; huge, twisted shapes reaching for the sky with long, bony fingers glistening in the rain, black as shadows.
The light flickers faintly up ahead, through a cluster of those hand-like branches, grabbing... waiting... Lurking...
By now I am thoughly soaked and I slip on one of the trunks as I near the light.Dusting myself off I continue."There you are"I say happily to the light."You had me worried for a moment"
@Bayleen: The world suddenly fell silent, as if someone had put a thick blanket over everything. The waves stopped their motionless dance and the wind silenced its howling...
The tiny shadow peeked out from behind a rock, watching in the thundering silence... It had no features in the moonlight, standing in the shadows of an enormous cliff...
It giggled nervously... Sounding worried...
@faunet: flickering from side to side, the light giggled nervously... then moved further away, avoiding the branches as if scared by them... The branches that seemed to only grow longer every time they were not looked upon... the water running down the trunks of the once-trees revealed the faint outline of round shaped embedded into them, but the darkness obscured them enough to be completely indistinct...
The light bolted, flying away, further into the dark... It seemed scared...
I followed the light runnning at full speed if it seemed scared to be there then I most certainly didn't want to stay there a moment longer. I don't stop till were out of there and then I almost sit on the ground my heart going a milllion miles an hour.
Mariposa stopped in her tracks. The giggle again. She had just noticed how time seemed to stop. ~Why does time always flee from me~ she thought sadly. "Will you trully leave me in this place alone..? All...all alone?" A salty tear, as salty as the still waves, rolled from her forest-green eye and rolled over her cheek. She ignored it, but kept her head down, her jet black hair a curtain over the sides of her face.
She walked forward, but quickly tripped over her own hair that trailed all the way down to the ground. The doe weakly got up again and sniffed. She looked around again for the voice, for the figure that she could not see.
@faunet: As you run the branches scratch your arms and legs, tugging at you, grabbing with those finger-like twigs that seem more and more animated the further you run.
The rain grows heavier.
The giggle ahead of you more timid and nervous.
The round figures in the trees more and more visible...
And as you finally make it through the cluster of grabbing trees, you find yourself in a clearing, the light flickering frantically at the other end of the round bit of forest floor, blocked by trees, ensnared by the grasping branches.
"Wait please"Isay to the light my arms and legs sting from the cuts.
"Please tell me where we are and where your taking me"my voice is shaky and tears start to form.
@Bayleen: Watching her from afar, the fawn-like shadow flinched as she tripped.
It gave a small, worried giggle and slowly stepped closer, head low. Its movements were jittery and erratic, like the wings of a butterfly... As it stepped out into the moonlight, it finally revealed its features.
It had none.
Just a blank, black, perfectly flawless layer of skin and fur where a face should have been. No eyes. No nose. No mouth. No anything.
It kept its blank head low as it walked closer. It was like a living shadow.
A living shadow who looked at her worriedly...
@faunet: The light gives a frantic, hysteric giggle in fear as it tries to escape the closing branches around it, flickering from side to side, going faster and faster, panic in its tiny movements.
It stops, almost as if to look at you, gives a sad, panicking, apologetic giggle... And at once a thunder bolt clasps in the sky, revealing the round shapes in the gruesome trees.
Faces.
Twisted, distorted faces, blending into each other, mouths jaw-breakingly open in silent screams, hateful, resenting eyes staring at you in pupil-less rage as the water drops off of them... water which in the light of the lightning turns red and sticky, filling the ground with crimson puddles, pooling off of the grotesque trees that seem fleshy and animated in the short glimpse of light.
The light giggles terrifiedly, gives a blinding burst and suddenly, there a couple of meters to the to the side of it, is the mirror which you entered through.
The trees crack and screech, moving closer, their many mouths and jagged teeth bending and twisting in the fleshy bark.
The light screams. Run
I jump up ignoring the pain.and I run to the mirror.I swear as long as I live I will be forever haunted by those faces.I stop as I reach the mirror."What about you I ask the light"I know its scared here and I won't leave it alone by itself.
Mariposa yawned a bit as another pearl-like tear of hers dripped from the bottom of her chin to the sand. The doe sighed and watched it fall from her, almost in slow motion.
p l u n k
it fell in the sand, embedded in it now.
She stared at the ground a little longer, but not focused on it now. She was in her own mind, thinking to herself. ~Should I stay here any longer? Is it worth waiting for someone?~ Yes. It was. Mariposa never wanted to be lonely anymore. She would search for the being, no matter how long it took her. The doe gave a little cough and slowly descended and lied down and closed her eyes. She waited.
The blackbuck antelope approaches the mirror, seeing his own reflection at first, but then he shifts, his body morphing into his wolf form. The blackbuck is startled at first, but then he approaches, sniffing the mirror. He smells the wolf on the other side.
"Come on, Quad. Don't be afraid.", the wolf speaks to him.
"Is it safe?", the blackbuck asks.
The wolf reaches out and bites Quad gently on the leg. He is startled but then he knows his wolf form means no harm. He hesitantly steps in...
And on the other side, he has become the wolf. A strange wood at autumn is before him. He walks deeper in, and at that moment, he sees someone walking by.
A samurai, who stops and sees him. It is a moment of awkward silence, but then the swordsman continues on.
Quad Wolf looks to the man's feet, the marks he leaves in the dirt.
Wolf tracks.
He then realized.
We all have a little wolf inside of us, no matter who we are.
((Sorry, I took it into my own direction, but if this is something you can work with, please feel free to interact with Quad Wolf. If not, then no worries X3))
@faunet: The light flickers as the branches tear at it mercilessly, the blood raining from the sky painting its white glow red. It giggles in terror, "voice" failing it, fading, frantic little noises disappearing behind the creaking and moaning of the fleshy trees. One of them turns to you, the biggest of its faces as of yet motionless snarling, gritting its long, jagged teeth... And suddenly tearing itself from the trunk, coming right at you with a banshee-like howl of rage, eyes wild and bloodshot, fixed at you and nothing else, extending on a long "neck" of rotting flesh, veins, tissue and centimetre-long maggots.
It blocks the way to the light.
But the way to the mirror is still free.
I hold up my hands to the tree "I mean no harm"I say desperately "Please don't hurt me I only seek friendship"call what you like but I need to know more. This place it intrigues me and I am not feint of heart.
@Bayleen: Watching her intensely as she put herself down into the soft sand, the tiny thing hesitantly moved closer, soon going faster.
A touch.
It was small and warm. It had a small and warm heartbeat. Like a flickering light or a fluttering butterfly.
The fawn was laying beside her, curling up to her.
It gave that small giggle again...
@Quad: The forest around him is truly magnificent.
And strangely cold at the same time.
It feels like it is brown and light, pink cherry blossoms falling from thin, delicate, but strong trees surrounding him in a tiny grove among the massive pines and birches. But everything is grey... Black and white, like an old movie...
The wolf-samurai turns to look at him, smirking, only to disappear at once.
A tiny bark is heard among the trees...
And there, under a particularly magnificent black-and-white sakura tree is a tiny human being... A little girl dressed in a white kimono, playing with a ball.
She giggles.
It sounds like the playful barks of a puppy.
---------------------
So glad you joined, Quad! >w< Welcome to the mirror~
Mariposa's eyes fluttered open at the faint touch. She looked to her side and there was the faceless fawn. It caught Mariposa off guard, but it surprisingly didn't scare her. She chuckled and pressed against the fawn and nuzzled it and hugged it as much as she could. "I will never part with you. You are my friend!" Mariposa exclaimed happily.
@faunet: But the tree is relentless, only roaring infuriated at you, others immediately joining in, extending their grotesque faces upon long, worm-like necks of rotting flesh and giant maggots.
The light screams somewhere in the midst of all the trees, hidden by their malformed bodies and screeching faces, another clasp of lightning sending a searing, white light through the mass, shaking the ground and sending the moaning, roaring, twisted creatures into a rage, charging at you with their gnarled fingers grabbing at you, long, sharp, black nails tearing and raging through the air like daggers forged from the fires of hell itself.
@Quad: halting her movement, the girl stand completely still for a moment... then she giggles playfully and picks up her ball, running a few feet, waiting for the wolf to follow, jittery with anticipation.
It looks like she wants to play a game...
@Bayleen: Giggling happily, the fawn pressed against her gently, its tiny tail twitching as if wagging in happiness.
It had no smell, as is the case of all fawns, but it looked female...
It giggled warmly and snuggled into her side, warm and small and all hers.
The waves quietly began their serene dance again.
The wind embraced the two in a gentle, warm breeze.
@faunet: And immediately you are back in the part of the forest which wasn't there before, laying where you fell in front of the mirror.
You have no scrapes.
There is not a sound to be heard.
It is almost as if everything was nothing but a dream...
Then words appear behind the surface of the mirror. "I'm sorry..."
"I didn't want him to find you..."
"...Can you forgive me?..."
I sigh stepping through the mirror once again it's the same as before.
"I forgive you but please I am no so easily broken who ever he is he holds no power over me"
@faunet: ...
But the mirror will not budge.
It is just a mirror now.
