......:Why is the rain so incredibly consistant? It seems that every day I wake I find my fur soaking wet with the persistant rain-drops. Ah well, I suppose I'd better start falling asleep beneath shelter so the burden doesn't effect me as much.
......:It was sunny, and I determined it to be a find day to wander...until of course...well...I found myself to be a little over-hasty. I eventually made it to the pond, dipping my flattened fur into the waters, watching as it flowed from the slight current pushing from the pond. Hoofbeats. I turned my head suddenly, a shiver rushing down my spine as the cool water gave way to my movement. I realized my state of condition, soaking wet from the pond, looking much less than my best, yet Miss Poltergeist stumbled upon me. I grinned sheepishly, a flush surely covering my face. Shaking off the water, I stumbled away from the murky waters, trying to straighten my coat as is dribbled with water. She bowed, and I followed suite, before we both went off, fiddling around the pond.
.....:Until, another deer seemed to join our company. I greeted them, holding back the urge in my gut to flee the scene without second thought. We lingered for awhile, until another deer rushed towards us.
.....:I bolted, my body shaking. I leaped with great vigor across the gap that seperated two sides of the riverbank, ignoring the bridge which stood near. Finally, I came to a stop, trying hard to catch my breath beneath the incoherant words I was cursing myself with. How could I run away yet again! Had I still not broken that stupid quirk? Was I such a coward to suddenly bolt when a simply dear approached into company. I lowered my head, shaking it back and forth. I had to get over this. Slowly, I managed to turn my body back towards the group, my brows furrowed and my head leaning back into a proper posture. Then, I noticed, Miss Poltergeist running towards me, trotting across the bridge and into my company. I instantly looked away, my ears pinned to the back of my head.
"I'm such a fool...Miss...." I paused.
"If you would allow me to try and break this trait." I continued, before walking forward, back towards the group. I bowed. They followed suite.
.....:It was strange, trying to entertain deer who came and went so quickly. I encountered quite a different amount of deer, who happily joined in our games as we hopped about the forest. Although, I must say that social interaction tires me quickly, as I found myself sitting next to a tree, allowing the heavy weight of my antlers to lean against it and share the burden. I watched the group for awhile, before we all eventually ended up near the pond.
.....:We all lingered there for awhile, listening to the frogs bellowing croaks erupt from the pond's edge. I was once again uselessly drowsy, and I invited Miss Poltergeist to join me in laying in a sun's ray. I noticed our other guest also chose to lay down, in the shallow waters of the pond, that is. It must have been quite chilly, and I hope the Miss didn't catch any sort of sickness by laying there for too long. My body grew drowsier with every frog's croak, and eventually, I felt I should leave their company before I looked less than desirable to look at. I wouldn't wish to make the wrong impression by acting so drowsy all the while. Within moments, I fell asleep, relishing in such a welcomed rest.
.....:When I awoke, I finally decided to clean myself up more properly. I trotted over towards the Crying Idol, allowing the cool water to run past my face. After shaking the scattered droplets from my fur, I leaped from the crevice. I do remember lingering for awhile afterwards, near the Idol, enjoying the red flowers when grew so near to it. Absent of my respect for the forest, I plucked a single, red flower from it's sheath in the ground, carefully holding it between my teeth. Hoofbeats. I turned my head sharply, my eyes scanning for only a few moments before I noticed Miss Poltergeist within my sight. I grinned, approaching her with flower still at hand. I set the plant down, nudging it towards the doe. I was sure pleased by the scent of the plant, so surely she'd be too. I suppose some things are just easier to show this way, I guess. She grinned, and I nodded assuringly. I felt similiar to a fawn, almost, as my mind must've been clouded with so many joyful things to make it seem so carefree.
.....:Miss Poltergeist and I lingered for awhile, hopping about and laughing with such carefree giggles. Until, I spotted something oddly peculiar. It was a deer...but wait...an extremely small one, with a bright shining red pelt and candle antlers. Was it....a god? Still unfamiliar to the forest's magic, I approached the creature, bowing unsteadily. It returned the favor...? I blinked, turning to Miss Poltergeist occasionally with a few distinct glances. She laughed, yet I was puzzled. How could such a small deer exist in such enviroment? Slowly, I approached them once again, the butterflies finally stopping their fluttering within my gut. It was simply a small deer, nothing strange about it. I chuckled, and we all ended up in eachother's company for awhile, laughing and jumping with a fawn's enthusiasm.
......:Though, the day grew late, and I gave into sleep once more.....
.....:The forest is stunning. Absolutely stunning. When I awoke, I was flooded with completely new colors, of purple hues and deep magentas. When I looked to the sky, I found a gradient of pinks and blues slowly fading into the landscape. And when I turned my head a tad higher, noticing the treetops and animals fluttering about the breeze, I held my breath. A faint image, of a moon so carefully lingering in the air, it's glow so incredibly slight I nearly choked.
"Luna..." I stuttered, my voice being caught in my staggered breath. Memories soon came flooding back, and I could feel my entire body shiver as I stood there, staring at the twilight sky. I finally coached myself to look away, drawn back to the incredible colors that were being placed before my eyes.
.....:My ears perked forward, and I heard a familiar, and welcoming sound, of hoofbeats traveling across the horizon. I could feel a smile grace my startled face, and I greeted Miss Poltergeist with an enthusicastic bow. I nearly missed her presense, as she was blended so well with the landscape, I could've been bowing to nothing for all who cared. Yet, I was assured it was real when she nuzzled me, as nothing else could produce such warmth than another deer. I returned the action, grinning cheek to cheek with a silly expression plastered on my face.
"Miss Poltergeist....this forest is truly beautiful." I whispered, noticing a slight glow flickering back and forth from the landscape near a patch of flowers. I felt the need to finish my sentence, but I cut myself off in fear of making Miss Poltergeist feel awkward.
But not as beautiful as you.[i] I thought, shaking off the words as I felt my face grow redder.
.....:After pausing, I burst forward towards the small flickers of light, making sure I didn't loose my company in the process. It was strange, I noticed in my approach, as it seemed little tiny suns were swimming back and forth in thin air above the plants. I approached the glowing objects quietly, carefully watching my steps. Suddenly, it became bright. Extremely bright. I blinked, confused, until I noticed a glowing bug-like creature sitting upon my nose. I stiffened, wondering if Miss Poltergeist had ever encountered these beings before. Then, as soon as it had landed, it flew away. I lost the lone bug in the pack which is joined once again, and I couldn't help but feel the need to leep through it. I did, and Miss Poltergeist's and my laughter surely could have been heard from far around.
......:After touring the forest, and enjoying many of the things the twilight provided, I found myself glancing off to the sky more than usual. I bowed deeply to Miss Poltergeist, assuring her that I would return once I could bring my body back from it's terrified state. The moon had gained a bit of it's glow, and I swore I could see that face....the face of my own mother...implanted in it's presense. I ran, full speed, onto a hill deep in the belly of the birch forest, glad that Miss Poltergeist could spare seeing the terrible state I lingered in.
"Ah, my dear, dear, son. Why do you not speak to your hearbroken old mother? Hm?"
I stood, shaking my antlers back and forth.
[i]"I've told you, luna, you cannot control my life. I'm a grown stag now, but don't think that I'm not reminded of you everytime I stare into my reflection. Don't believe that I'm just ignorant, I'm not, I just wish to stay away from your harsh opinions on what a perfect son would be. I am not perfect, luna. Far from it."
My voice, from what started a bellow, soon faded into a whisper, and I could feel my body finally return to reality. I shook my head, glancing to the sky before running back to where Miss Poltergeist still lingered.
.....:I was surprised to find Miss Poltergeist in company, but didn't spite it. I never intented to drag her away from other company, and was glad she was enjoying another's presense. I crept throught the birch forest, trying to hide amoung it's tall grasses as I saw her and her company peacefully sitting in the orginal, darker forest. I soon came to sitting, watching her as she swayed ever-slightly in her rest. Soon though, I lost track of my current reality, for when I looked once again, both of them had turned to face me, their obvious regonition of my presense. I shivered, slowly rising to my hooves.
"Excuse me." I began as I bowed and started my approach.
"Forgive me rudeness, it's awful terrible of me not to introduce myself." I nuzzled Miss Poltergeist, a happy smile laid across my features, before turning to the other doe. They wore a feathered headress of sorts, an interesting skull mask, and a bold black and white pelt that resemble that of...oh what was the word...an orca, I believe. They nodded, and bowed as well. All three of us played in the area for awhile, before another bit of company graced out presense. We all introduced ourselves, then continued in a handful of silly games. Before long though, I could feel that dreadful feeling of sleepiness creep over my body, almost paralyzing it. I sat down, contently watching the other deer play and dance amongst the glowing bugs. I'd heard of the word calling them 'fireflies' awhile back in the occasional conversations I'd encountered, so I presumed that to be the bug's informal title. It seemed fitting.
I must've fallen asleep.
......:I could feel the drowsieness leaving my body as I started to awake, my mind wiping away the blurry effects that dreams could carry. I noticed, though, a presense nearby, sitting happily near my own sleeping body. I regonized them. I had seen her before, with her rounded face, complicated pelt...and strong, key-like antlers. She was the one I couldn't seem to approach...the magical doe who could materialize from trees! Ah, but it must of been some sort of illusion, I thought, as my mind finally formed what my eyes were seeing. I stood up with quite a start, as it scared the doe quite I bit. I bowed deeply, and quite for awhile.
"My goodness Miss, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't allow myself to be seen like this. Sleeping the day away, unaware, you must forgive me Miss." I rambled bowing consistantly towards the doe.
"I must rummage up a bit more manners than this, as it's rude for me to sleep while in another's company. I'm so incredibly sorry for that, Miss." I continued, noticing her nod. Thank goodness. I felt like such a fool, my manners so poor while in another's company. With that, I took off, only to fall asleep once again. I feel as if my body grows wearier with each passing day, really.
.....:The twilight had recessed when I awoke, much to my dismay. It was incredible to see such an array of different colors, only to have the spectrum diminish when I awoke the next day. I wandered for awhile, lingering particularily near the pond. Until, I noticed, a fawn in far off company, which hid behind various trees and objects of concealment. I furrowed my brow, but continued on my way, only to find the fawn once again in following. Finally, I stopped, asking if the deer wished to approach. They did, and they introduced themself. I bowed, nodding politely, but not giving my name. We lingered, but I grew socially exaughsted and removed myself from the situation. The fawn followed, and even flew over the pond when I did, as well. A bit agitated, yet curious, I leaped into a willow tree, resting carefully in the branches. I was shocked. The fawn also followed, perching itself onto a nearby branch. I grinned, and lept down from my perch.
"How....do you attempt such a thing when you're only so young?" I asked, grinning. We eventually ran into the birch forest, and I was delighted to notice that fawn still had followed. I stared into the landscape, daydreaming. But when I returned to reality, the fawn was gone. I couldn't stop myself, though, from drifting into sleep soon after.
....:Warmth. A comforting warmth. I felt heat leaking onto my fur, and when I squinted open an eye, I noticed Miss Poltergeist sitting next to me, her head tall, and scanning the landscape with bold, blue eyes. I didn't want to stir, I didn't want to let the moment fade into an awkward introduction, but I knew I needed my manners.
"Miss Poltergeist..." I finally whispered, my voice husky and deep from drowsieness.
"How am I supposed to greet you properly when I'm asleep?" I laughed, and we both stood up. I bowed my head, before quickly nuzzling the doe.
"I don't mind the warmth...though." I continued, and we soon gave way to our silly antics of jumping around the forest and filling it with fawn-like laughter. We continued in quitea few games, but I noticed Miss Poltergeist grow sleepy faster than I. We stopped, and look towards her. She had to leave, and to give into sleep which seperated reality from dream-land. I was saddened. This might've been one of the few times that she left before I, and nowI felt that hole in my stomach which she probably had felt all these times. She sat down, and I nuzzled her, my expression saddened.
"Until we meet again." I whispered, as her body dissolved into a cloud of purple dust.
I fell asleep soon after, as well.
But I now have been wondering, as of late....where Miss Ravenflight has disappeared off to...
