Sooooo about image hosting...

I dunno how many of you use photobucket for your image hosting, I do only out of habit because that's what I started with back in 2007 for this site. But I noticed all of my images breaking on the site, and I did some digging. Apparently Photobucket no longer allows for free 3rd party hosting, I double checked and so far every result is that they've just cut it off about a week ago. Welp.

I know it's an old as dirt hosting site, I've just been using it because that's what I always used for TEFc but not anymore I guess haha. So I guess a heads up to anyone still using an ancient image host like an old fart like me |D

I thought about switching all my images over somewhere tonight but man, that is a LOT of images, it's 9 years of images.

I can't deal with this tonight, I found out my profile setup for OBS for streaming got erased for no reason and that's too many broken things in one evening lol This is a problem for future me.
_{Which I guess it's a good thing I was planning on redoing all of Atiq's CSS from scratch anyways, but man that's a lot of blogs I have to fix now >n>}

This explains a lot though geez. Like damn. Why you gotta do me like that, photobucket.

yeah that's what I started switching to, just doing the long process of reuploading \o/

my art blog is so broken, I kept a record of every image I've uploaded since I was 16, I'm going to be editing old posts for a week lol
At least it's not a complicated process |D

I deleted my account after they sent an email about that policy change (which had ironically gone to my Spam folder). All my old screenshot blogs must look like crap now, but no way in hell are they getting any money from me just to allow third party hosting again. They were already going downhill when they implemented print-ordering on everything. I wasn't uploading anything new to them lately anyway...
And that "comments" box they present you with when asked for the reason you're deleting? I ripped them a new one. =D

https://cubeupload.com/ is really cool so far too. No scaling, unlike Imgur, which helps me when making CSS or posting art.

Pega - I checked the email account I have connected to photobucket, I'd read a lot of people found the email in their junk folder like you so I wanted to check, I didn't even get an email anywhere XD And yeah all of my old posts look terrible now too, luckily like I said it's not a very hard thing to fix there's just....a lot of it, but dammit if I'm not gonna rescue those posts for nostalgia's sake lol

But did you see the price tag on the service that allows for 3rd party hosting? $400 a year, yeah how about noooo

Yeah when I read that I had to double check because I thought it HAD to be made up, but I read through all of their pricing plans and the Plus 500 is the only one that offers 3rd party hosting, and it says $39.99 month or discounted to $399.99 a year o.o

It's like, man you just want to die hard and fast don't you? I see why they did it, bandwith for them must be NUTS and it costs a LOT to maintain, but they were so sneaky about it and $40 a month is a hefty sum, personal domains can go a lot cheaper than that. Hell, the site I use for my portfolio has a heftier load than they do to maintain and a pro plan for them is less than $30 a year, less than the cost of one month with photobucket.

It was just a really cheap move to do it so suddenly and not give anyone any warning and basically hold their images ransom, like I said a lot of people here used it for all of their bios and blogs and screenshots and stories when I first got here, so this broke a good portion of people's art and storytelling on the site, there's now a lot of my old friends' stuff I can't see anymore :c

Pega - yeah that was my problem, I KNOW it's all broken and sometimes people like to go back and look at old posts, like as I as going through my pages I found some of Quad's Candid Camera posts...they're broke now :C I wanted to see some of those old screenshots. Luckily fixing your stuff shouldn't be too hard, just download your photobucket albums and shove em somewhere else XD

But this is definitely something to do in chunks, I just made it through that one time where there was a big 'ol rough patch between my deer and others. WOOF that was heavy to remember @-@

Well, I shoved a bunch of stuff into an imgur album so I can begin to fix my bios. I don't care as much about the screenshots. There's waaaaaay too many, and I always kept them stored on my machine anyway. So it's not loss for me; it's just the tons of blogs that are ruined. And I'm not going through 9 years worth of blogs. 8D; (Though it's probably more like 5 or 6 years.)

Photobucket pretty much just Library of Alexandria'd our recorded history on the site XDD

Imgur also removes any EXIF

Imgur also removes any EXIF data of photos you upload, which is VERY useful when uploading pictures from mobile devices, as EXIF data can contain geotags (gps location of the photo taken) and other identifying info that you don't want any random person to know.

It's pretty much my go to for uploading photos because of that.

I actually use postimages! I like it but for some reason TEFc doesn't like when I use it, I've had problems where when I link from there and images I post show up for me but not anyone else @-@ which is nuts but... |D
