Sorry, trying to figure out

Sorry, trying to figure out who to bring forward. Uhhh. Maybe I'll do a trial run with my kiddo I haven't RPed with in a while. He'll be back from his trip to the human world in a couple of days.

Alabaster stood in the snow, his head tilted back to watch the tears flowing out of the crying idol. He hadnt seen it in a while, as was the case for the vast majority of the forest, and was slowly making his rounds. The stag's breath clouded before his face, and he had to readjust to the fact that he had a human face over the deer he had grown accustomed to. Even in the cold weather, the tears were still flowing. He liked that about the forest, all of the strange magic.

A soft hum rose in the back

A soft hum rose in the back of her throat. Mai trotted briskly to the stream, the gurgling sound along with the tune she absentmindedly hummed was enough to drown out the sounds of everything around her. The cold, fresh water made her sigh with contentment, and after a brief hesitation she plunged her head into the stream. Giggles in the form of pealing chimes escaped her lips, squeals of surprise. Her thick ebony ruff was soaking wet. She wriggled around on the bank, shivering delightedly before getting to her feet. She shook the water out of her fur, and eventually noticed Alabaster. A violin's music, low and fast, vibrated in her throat. Mai looked up at him with an almost comically startled expression, and then scampered agilely up the nearest tree. Now able to look down at him, she studied the stag briefly, almost like she didn't know she was still in his line of sight where she stood on her perch.

The stag's ears flew back as

The stag's ears flew back as the strange sound came toward him. He was barely able to follow the doe's retreat up a tree, though once he figured out just where she went, he was startled. Up a tree? He watched her, unable to hide his surprise. "Deer in trees...what will the magic of the forest come up with next?" he whispered under his breath, watching the doe. There was something strange about her, he had forgotten the odd creatures of the forest. Not to mention the weird sounds she had made, which confused him further. He took a step toward the tree, tilting his head to look up at her.
"I think we both spooked eachother," he said in a soft voice, "You can come down, I won't bring you harm."

Mai exited the tree as fast

Mai exited the tree as fast as she had ascended into its branches mere moments ago. She crept closer to investigate, head tilted to one side curiously. More softly than usual, she gave her musical form of greeting, pausing to see how he would react.

Alabaster stepped back,

Alabaster stepped back, surprised by the speed of her. One second in the tree, the next on the ground. Her strange way of speaking puzzled him too, causing his ears to go back in surprise.
"Hello, what's your name?" He tilted his head and watched her. Maybe her weird noises meant she was talking? Or trying to?

Mai couldn't speak in the way

Mai couldn't speak in the way most were used to, but her name was something that she had been practicing. She'd first started when she was even younger than she is now, when her mother would sing her name to her, over and over, like a lullaby. It was not completely clear, her enunciation still needed some work, but he could probably understand the uttering of her highly simple, one-syllable name.
The violin was her choice to mimic the sound of her name. She said her name slowly so that she could carefully pronounce each sound.
M...a...i. Mai.

Alabaster didn't know what he

Alabaster didn't know what he expected, but that certainly wasn't it. He was intrigued by this little doe, especially the way she used music to speak. He actually had to listen to understand her. His ears were perked forward to catch the tune, trying to decipher it.
"...Mai?" he questioned after a moment, "Your name is Mai?"

Immediately when the female

Immediately when the female heard the sound of her name she perked up, trilling happily. Mai nodded rapidly and hopped once or twice. There were few words she knew...but they were very few in number and only small things that she'd picked up from listening and observing others. Still, she tried to speak once more, for his sake more than for hers.
P...l...ay. Play?

Alabaster watched her jump

Alabaster watched her jump around for a moment, his gaze drawn away by a bird fluttering by before the doe's question brought his attention back.
"Play?" he repeated, thinking for a moment. A game...it'd been a while since he just romped around and had fun, "Sure, Mai. By the way I am Alabaster, you can just call me Al, if that's easier for you to say. What game do you want to play?" He tilted his head as he watched her.

A...l. A..la, Ala pl...ay

A...l. A..la, Ala pl...ay hide see...k? she trilled. Mai laughed in her bell-chimes, and while hoping he wouldn't be frightened, plopped the fluffy part of her tail in front of his face to block his view. She playfully waggled it before taking it back and skittering up a different tree than the last. Mai hid herself completely in the leaves, peeking out slyly through the flora.

Hide and Seek... the stag

Hide and Seek... the stag laughed and looked away, pretending he had no idea where the little doe had gone. "One...two...three...four...five...six... seven....eight...nine...ten..." he paused, raising his voice slightly, "All right Mai. Ready or not, here I come!" He chuckled again, trotting around and looking about at eye level. "Hmmm..." he lunged toward a bush, charging behind it with a "Ah-ha! Here you- oh...I thought you would have hidden here..." He wheeled around and trotted back into the open, scanning about the forest again. "Hmm..." the stag bounded toward a boulder and glanced behind it, "not here either...." He retraced his steps, looking about him as he tried to find another hiding spot.

She couldn't help but break

She couldn't help but break down into peals of laughter, effectively giving away her hiding place, as she watched him "search" for her. Startled by the loud noise, she pressed her tail over her mouth.
O..o..p...s...!
He'd seen her. But while she still somewhat had the element of surprise, Mai leapt down from the tree, landing nimbly on her feet, and made a sound that was the closest musical equivalent of "boo" that she could make.

Alabaster laughed along with her, "There you are! Silly, giving away your hiding place," he teased with a smile. She was a silly little doe, but interesting all the same. "What do you want to do now?"
