About twenty different thoughts ran through Tuna's head within the next thirty seconds. Most ran along the lines of holy shit he's a good kisser and fireworks in your head much? and glitterpants is not liking this, but she finally allowed herself to enjoy it, skating her fingers over his neck subconsciously. Finally, she pulled back, grinning mildly. "For a decade of unuse, that wasn't so bad. Could use some improvement, though."

The sudden rush of genuine romance seemed almost completely foreign now, maybe even nostalgically bittersweet, but far from unwelcome. How he had managed to stay away from this for so long was nothing if not a mystery. Of course she'd have a smart retort in the seconds after it ended, that was nothing less than expected. His signature smirk returned. "Everyone's a critic, huh?" His fingers slid down her arm and wrapped around her own hand, and he shot a quick glance and nod in the direction they were headed.
"Now let's go get that drink."

"Spiffy," the blonde responded mildly. Her mind was still dislocated from the feel of the kiss, but she managed to start walking again, slipping her hand inside her pocket and swinging the other arm slightly. Looking up absentmindedly, she noticed the grayness of the evening sky and grinned disbelievingly. "Jesus. Looks like rain."

At her comment, his eyes darted up to the sky in affirmation, noting that there was indeed a distinct layer of thick, dark clouds moving in. Even a tiny couple of droplets could be felt coming down in a preemptive drizzle. "Nice. We'd better book it." He suggested, knowing that the bar wasn't too much further and not all too partial to the thought of being caught in a downpour- mostly, and humorously, out of concern for the welfare of his leather jacket.

Jettem almost jumped to his idea, more than glad to be able to talk freely with another without the fear of being looked at like some crazy on the streets. She did jump physically when he mentioned the dog.
" Oh my gods, I'm so sorry! The poor thing, let me just pay the man..."
Dropping the dollar bills on the counter, Jettem hitched her dress and moved to the door looking back at Oz as the bell chimed again.
" You're dog almost made me kill myself you know."
She said with a smile.

Depositing his own money on the counter as well, Oz followed after Jettem, holding the door for her on her way out. The black dog was hopping around his feet the next moment, tongue lolling out, before it looked at the woman with its bright eyes. The tall man unlooped her leash and tugged her to his side. "Alright, then. I'm sure we both have questions for each other."

Tuna

"Mhm." It was only a minute before the sky unexpectedly let loose, fast as the changes in the Forest. The lights of the bar and the surrounding buildings were the most visible things in the downpour, and Tuna took off towards them at a run, dragging Masque behind her. Despite herself, she felt the smile on her face, and was laughing by the time they squeezed into the crowded building. "Shit."

Nearly blinded by the sudden

Nearly blinded by the sudden sheets of rain obscuring everything beyond half a block, it would have proven difficult to find his way there quickly if it weren't for Tuna's hand tightly gripping his wrist and leading the way through the downpour. Everybody else on the street was making a mad dash to find cover themselves, reacting to the weather change as a great inconvenience, when really, it just seemed to add a little excitement in the man's opinion. It was clear that a handful of people had crammed themselves into the bar's entrance simply to escape the rain, and it was nearly a task to slip by them to get in. Even the short distance of running was enough to initiate a period of coughing upon stepping inside. Sharing the look of amusement that the blonde woman wore, he brushed away the soaked hair clinging to his forehead and wrung out the front of his t-shirt.
"Well, at least we only got a tiny bit wet." He said cynically, searching the place for a couple of open seats.

Grinning broadly, Tuna wrung her own hair out, disregarding the annoyed man whose shoes were soaked by it. "Don't see what's so wrong with the water," she commented mildly. A pair of chairs by the window caught her eye, and she jerked her head towards them, edging around the people filling in the spaces and leading Masque with her hand on the front of his coat. Sinking down into one of the seats, she stretched back, shrugging her coat off. "I've been meaning to ask you - seen Aegle lately?"

"Hm?" He questioned

"Hm?" He questioned absentmindedly, pulling his jacket off and hanging it up along with Tuna's on the post next to them before sitting. Why she wanted to bring up Aegle now was beyond him, as it only stirred up the knowledge that she would eventually know about this, and she may not be too happy to hear it. But then, that's what happens to hypocrites such as himself. Masque had already decided he wasn't going to feel guilty about this relationship, regardless of what his other friends thought about it. Life's too short to feel bad about everything.
"No, not really. You?" He responded shortly, trying to get the attention of the waitstaff.

Resting her hands on the table, Tuna leaned forward, supporting her weight on her elbows and looking out at the downpour. The dim light of the bar cast shadows on her skin - her eyes flickered down to watch them on her hands. "Well, that's why I'm asking. I'm worried. She didn't look like herself last time I saw her, and that was weeks ago." The girl bit her lip. "Then again, it's all going to hell back home. She might just be out here somewhere."

It was true that it had been a while since he had seen her. As a matter of fact, it had been a while since he'd seen anybody he wanted to. And who could blame them, really.
"Mhm," he grunted in agreement, focusing his attention on the minute details of the table in front of them, "she's been hanging out with other crowds, and even been getting into fights. I don't really like it, but. What can ya do." He shrugged to himself.
At this point an almost scantily clad brunette approached their table wearing a smile almost as false as her chest, and asked what she could get for them.
"Jack on the rocks." Masque said flatly, hardly even giving her so much as a glance.

After processing this information in quiet, Tuna shrugged in response, her eyes skimming over his hands on the table in front of her. "Guess we shouldn't worry too much. Sounds like she can take care of herself." Leaning back, she sighed, and smiled ruefully, glacing up at his face. The waitress slipped over before she was quite finished looking over him. "Stella," the woman responded, the corner of her mouth still crooked.

The man wore a small frown as Tuna spoke, trying to process what she was saying. Not worry? How could he. It was like she made the suggestion to stop breathing. Yes, she probably could take care of herself, and she insisted that she could, but it was hard to leave her alone. After seeing her collapsed, bleeding and broken in the middle of a snowy field, he couldn't shake the feeling of protection that he needed to offer her.
He looked up to see the woman focused on him, and grinned. Her hair was still soaked and she looked a bit flustered from the sudden cold rain, but god, he thought she was pretty. Time for a subject change.
"So what's new on your end?"

"Absolutely nothing." This was the customary response, but on reflection, it wasn't true. Twirling a strand of hair between her fingers, she corrected, "Well, that ass at home is being more prickly then usual. And I just found out my best friend's death was a fake. But hell, it's normal compared to what's usually going on." Now that was true. Smiling in a mellow sort of way, she held his stare, noticing with odd clarity the darkness of his eyes. He was out of breath and panting by the time he'd reached Tuna's door, muscular chest heaving up and down until the blonde had regained some sort of composure. Long-fingered hands groped for the doorhandle but then decided that he should perhaps show her he wasn't a complete ass and had some kind of gentlemanly air when he felt like it. That, however, was difficult, since Rutilus had not been a gentleman for a long while. He knocked sharply, in the tune of Ain't Too Proud To Beg, then stood fidgeting, waiting. Then Rut began to whistle quietly to the same song.

A, C, D....C. Hahaha. The notes on the saxaphone reminded Tuna of someone she'd met a while ago, a gentleman with a mellow flair. They'd been alike. She hadn't seen him in a while. Perhaps she should've picked up the phone and made a call - it would have certainly got her out of this place. Then again, that was a selfish reason for making a date with someone. She'd been too frustrated lately to see anyone, and despite wanting to pay a visit to her partner of late, she knew she couldn't leave without being stalked. The woman cleared her throat and curled herself up a little closer on the couch, hugging the form of her instrument. Her fingers found the right spots again, and, with no hesitation, she launched into a well-practiced rendition of Biggest Mistake.

But after a while, I stopped to rebel. I'm back in the past and I'm raisin' up hell-

Eight knocks on the door in a familiar beat stopped her abruptly. The blonde's head flicked to the side, and she stared in slight bewilderment. Nobody was supposed to come over today, she knew. Shooting up off of the couch and laying her instrument down gently, she crossed the room in a few limping strides and pulled the door open.

"Oh!- Uh, hi."

The craving for a cigarette suddenly became quite strong, as he was almost conditioned to have a smoke whenever he drank whiskey. But he wasn’t ready to give in just yet.

Smiling slightly, Tuna brushed her messed hair back from her eyes and looked up at her friend. "Well, I'm clearly not. Good news for all of us." He looked better than he had in months - dare she guess why. Slipping around him, the woman loped into the kitchen and pulled open the fridge, setting some sodas on the counter. Whether Jareth was in his room or not, she had no idea. Quite frankly, she didn't care. Passing by the mirror on the fridge door on her way around, she noticed bags under her own eyes with sudden surprise, and raked her hair out of her face with her free hand once more before gesturing Rut over to the couch and plopping back down. "Any particular reason for this surprise visit?"

Fled

There was that comment again. She was hearing it with increasing frequency, and it was becoming more and more apparent that they were right. Hovering her lips just above the neck of her bottle, she shrugged mildly. "I dunno. Too much of an effort to kick him out." God, that was probably the dumbest evasion she'd come up with yet. A grin cropped up at her own stupidity, and she corrected, with a sigh, "I just don't know. Hoping to steal the spot?" A smile cropped up at the thought of it.

Elbowing her way through the mostly large bodies, Tuna made it to the door just after him. The chaos behind them was encroaching, still. People never learned. Ducking under the blonde's arm, she bounded down the stairs into what was now a less-severe patter of rain. "Come on, there's an overpass up ahead." Her jacket didn't have a hood, and the cold water soaking through was starting to chill her. Jerking her head, the blond woman half-ran to the stone arch, not looking back until she was in a decently dry area. The cops wouldn't bother them here. Hell, it was no Times Square, but she had a habit of romanticising places. Hiding her teeth in a smile, she commented "Guess we're stuck here until it lets up. Stepping out into the cold

Stepping out into the cold rain was quite the unwelcome change compared the warmer comfort of the previously undisturbed atmosphere inside the bar. The man paused for a moment before continuing on down the stairs and throwing himself at the mercy of the cold and wet night. Tuna stepped around him as she spotted a place to stay fairly dry, and he followed without question, tugging his jacket closer to him. Once the two of them had sheltered under the quiet structure, he stood at ease and watched the scene unfolding in the direction from whence they came. Strobe-like flashes of red and blue rolled up on the street as a handful of stragglers decided to make a run for it as well. His attention was brought back at the cue of the woman's voice, to which he responded after giving his jacket a brief and analytical glance.
"Pfft, there's no point anymore; this thing's already been to hell and back." He crossed his arms with a shiver, the warm burn from the whiskey already wearing off his throat. In a remedial act, he edged over and gently hugged her body closer to his, immediately appreciating the vanishing chill as it was promptly replaced with comforting heat.

Rutilus was not the most

Rutilus was not the most graceful man in the world, which was probably the reason he promptly tripped over his own foot, clung to the wall for support, and stared at his friend as though she'd just grown an extra leg.
"You've got a boyfriend?" He stared, straightening up and continuing to walk, a bewildered expression on his face. "Who's the lucky guy?" A snort. "Guessin' it's not His Highness."

(-STILL LAUGHING AT RUT'S REACTION-)

Dannii

His reaction was priceless. Probably one of the best she'd ever gotten. Tuna couldn't help but laugh loudly, covering her mouth with her hand to stop herself after a minute. Struggling to regain a sense of composure, the blonde nodded placidly, a board smile still tugging at her face. "As much fun as it would be to make you guess, I know you'd tickle me into confession or some other retardation. Masque - it's Masque." It sounded strange to say. Still, the fact that she could say it made her show her teeth in a grin again.

Fled

Observing the patrol cars speeding up the street, Tuna grinned slightly. What was it about men with guns that made people so nervous? They had to know how to use them. Nodding vaguely at Masque's response, she was too focused on the scene behind them to look at him - when he pulled her into a hug, her heart skipped a beat. A smile spread on her face, least of all due to the warmth seeping through her chilled body. "This is going to be one hell of a relationship, you know."

With a satisfied smirk

With a satisfied smirk playing at his lips, he gazed off into the rainy city streets.
"Good." The prospect of any relationship with her overrode whatever possibilities he could think of for an unsuccessful outcome. The way things were at that moment was enough to make anyone happy.
Masque suddenly loosened his grip around her and gave a wary glance back in the direction of the bar. "Let's hope no one comes after us- you know, for leaving without paying. It was unlikely given the circumstances, but with his luck concerning the law, there were no guarantees.
