I'm posting this for myself at the moment, but if the idea seems to work, please feel free to use this blog to organize your own parties (so that you are not waiting on me for company).
I'm feeling uninspired, overwhelmed, and stuck in a rut with my art. My mind is getting in the way of my hand, and to remedy that, I'm going to draw as much as I can, as quickly as I can. To give myself a limit, I'm drawing to music- one drawing per song. When the song ends, regardless of what stage the drawing is at, it's time to move on. Today I am drawing in pencil, but any media is perfectly fine.
Rather than doing this alone, I hope some of you will join me in this exercise. I will be on skype instant messenger and listening to
this playlist of TEF suggested music (compiled by Unplugged). You are welcome to share music, too.
If there is some trouble with this system, please let me know, or suggest an alternative (this is an experiment).
If you like, please let me know you would like to join, and take up your creative tool.

Note- The original idea was, "Let's all listen to the same song while we draw, and be able to talk a bit, too". The Listening Room-type sites I visited don't seem to work. But if you know of a way to group listen, please leave a comment.

In regards to timezones, lately my sleep schedule is so odd that I may be on during daylight for you. If I'm not on, however, you ould host your own room. I was hoping this thread could be a planning place for other people's parties as well. Though having to read through posts in the thread may be an inconvenient format for learning if there is a party going on or not.

I think I may have to adjust the setup. I was hoping we could have a real time chat and listen to the same songs at the same time, but if it doesn't work out, a group playlist would still spice up everyone's listening options. Maybe a youtube account with a public password, so people can add music to one playlist.
A group skype call (or other voice chat program) might also work for streaming music, as long as the lag/call quality wouldn't interfere with the music. It might be a little intimidating to those who don't want their voices to be heard, but I believe there is a way to have the speaker playback as the audio source, instead of the microphone.

Though not entirely what you're thinking of, I have a TEF Musik Playlist which compiles everything people have posted over here.
Skype sounds ok though not my personal favourite since it requires adding people to contacts beforehand and some might have to download it just for that purpose. As for the social aspect, what I would probably do is just turn my own camera and microphone off. Not sure how it reliable skype's group calls are in terms of network and lag.
