I think people should stop this obsession with gen 1 and 2 pictos already, as lady Vala wisely said once, all pictos are unique and have their special beauty... I understand that regular and symetrical morphologies are nicer to human's eye, but creating a way to hack old pictos, harming both owners and M&A seems totally exaggerated to me, it would be so much better if they would use that energy to create something instead of stealing...
this is a special place, created by the love and effort of two of the greatest artist I've ever had the pleasure to meet through their works, and hacking, pirating or stealing from TEF seems like a sin to me.
it makes me super angry, and I never get angry really, but this is unbearably unacceptable

While it is tempting to get a certain feature for your deer (and I understand the temptation, for I was caught up in something similar at one point too), we must move away from getting these status symbols as it takes away from the original goal of this project. The Forest is for people to come together in a friendly environment and let go of human social complexities and just enjoy a magical forest with others.

I have nothing against individuality and having role play characters with certain sets, but the problem comes when people become covetous of what another player has and then that thing becomes the "must have" picto/pelt/set/whatever. I thought we all came to the Forest to get away from these things!

Wow, thats pretty bad to hear people were doing such a thing. Understandably, old pictos are pretty, but as a few have said before, every pictogram has its own inner beauty!

I never understood why people would want pictos other than the ones they got when they registered. I honestly love mine just the way it is! And all pictos indeed have their own beauty and are unique.

I think that first you need to think about why so many do. I think it's because the third generation is not convenient. Icons are very similar to each other ...
Yet many want the first generation, because it has more features. So why not add some features to the third or second generation?

The third and first generation pictograms do not have a different amount of symbols or 'features' from eachother. So I doubt that is the reason people do it, LittleOffender. Is it not simply because people can't get the generation 1's anymore and the people who did it are a little greedy?
If anything, I think the third generation is beautiful. When the first generation was able to be registered, people complained as well. It's just because you can't get them anymore people suddenly really want them.

Anyway, I tried to do the hack earlier and I could not get it to work. But I didn't try it when it was still possible either. Still, it looks like you've secured it well! I wanted to say thank you again for all the hard work you are doing for us, and apologising this has happend at all. I still can't wrap my mind around why people think this is okay, ever.

thank you for this, this place ... the forest is my second home. (and an important reason why my grades are better) it makes me so angry but im going to do the ultimate and not get angry and just forgive. I forgive those people who did this, so please listen this place is important to a lot of people, to me even ... just respect it.

When generation 2 came out, people complained about them not being recognizable. With gen3, people complain about the same. Generation 1 knows A LOT of ugly, and boring pictograms too. That’s just the risk of a randomizer. Any pictogram is unique and recognizable, up to you to make your deer interesting enough for people to want to recognize them.

How does “I don’t like them” warrant using a hack to get what you want? People with active characters got their accounts cloned. There is no excuse for this behavior, and I really hope you’re all very ashamed you ever even did it. Perhaps help M&A now, test if it still works, and if it does, admit it to them so they can stop it.

I can't tell the difference, but then I'm new. I see a lot of pictos that look very similar, but there's always a difference between them, even if it's just by one line. Like for example, I was looking at the map to see if Kettu or Walter were about and I thought I saw two Isiel pictos. One was her, but the other was for a stag. I clicked their picto links and here they're exactly the same except for one shape being flipped. So I'm learning to be careful to check the accounts before I go rushing up to a picto, to make sure it's who I think they are.

Even when pictos are difficult to recognise, I think it's all part of the fun of interaction. I remember the first time I played, when only Gen1's existed - but even the "easily recognisable" pictos were just a jumble of shapes to me. I used to sketch out pictos of deer I met, in the hopes that I'd have a chance of finding them again in future. xD

Like I say, all part of the fun. As you get to familiarise yourself with a deer, you'll know their picto like the back of your hand.

@ifeelblind Woo newbies for the win! XD And yeah I honestly don't understand how people can complain about the pictos. I adore all of them, and this "gen1 gen 3" or whatever complaints stuff is just stupid...I mean, I can gladly accept the decision of the Admins as I think the current pictos are beautiful and people should stick to the picto they picked during registration, in my opinion.

Okay, randomly; I cannot register regularly on the general Tale of Tales forum, but I was able to on this and I'm a member here. Why is that?

Secondly, I downloaded the game and all, but how can I customize my deer? My symbol isn't even above it's head. I think I'm missing some direction, but I need help.

Hi there Quary, I can help explain how to customize your deer.

First you need to log in and connect to the server. You can view a tutorial of how to do that by clicking this link.
Once you have logged in, you will need the help of other registered deer in order to change your appearance. You can not cast spells on yourself. Instead, you need to interact with others (through the actions in the menu at the bottom of the screen) and get them to cast spells on your deer.

For more info about spells, and other game mechanics, please click 'Game Info' at the top of this screen. Then click the 'Forest Magic' link, located on the right hand menu column.
