Welcome to (another) humandeer roleplay. :B I welcome anyone and everyone to join, and only ask that you write in a literate format (because descriptions are delicious). Feel free to join in anywhere at any time, and have fun with it! Oh, and don't be surprised if the rating in here surpasses a Disney film, because Masque alone has a difficult time controlling his language. xD

The setting is a kitschy downtown type of area, decorated with cheery winter lights and occupied by people doing their holiday shopping. It's a late afternoon a week before Christmas, and there's a light snowfall at the moment. In the evening, a holiday parade will take place on the main street, complete with floats, balloons, bands, and what-have-you.

.........

Also, pictures and tidbits of info on my characters are here. Okay, I'm done boring you now C:

.........

A happy jangle of the small bell overhanging the shop's door broke the sleepy atmosphere inside. A woman entered, cheeks and ears flushed red, and the fringes of her white scarf dancing about her neck as the wind outside battered them. The chill of winter air drifted into the warm shop as she closed the door behind her, and the bell resounded again. A man in his twenties stood behind the counter, packaging a box of what seemed to be red invitations or cards. He looked up at the customer briefly as she entered, then resumed his work. When she approached the counter, he acknowledged her.
"Hello, how can I help you?" He asked quietly.
"There's a lot of things you could do to help me," She replied sharply, removing her gloves and stuffing them into her coat's pockets, "I'm here to pick up my order, which was delayed for four days, mind you. Is it ready, or do I have to come back weeks from now?" She asked sarcastically.
The young man seemed undaunted by her attitude, and asked for her name as politely as ever.
"Elise White." She replied shortly, to which the worker nodded calmly and turned to a shelving unit against the wall. The doorway space beside the shelf revealed a large adjacent room with a few large pieces of machinery- printing presses- spaced out between stained tables and walls full of cabinets and drawers.
The worker grabbed a cardboard box off of a low shelf and placed on the counter in front of the woman, peeling off a post-it note upon which was scrawled "White, E. - PRE-PAYED - paper reorder delay".
In his ever-calm voice, he spoke again. "I apologize for the delay, ma'am, we had to order more of the cardstock you requested-"
"Yeah, they told me that on the phone." She interrupted, pulling the box closer to her as if pulling her child away from a stranger. "That doesn't really make it better." With this, she turned and promptly left the shop with her 80 new year's celebration party invitations on freshly restocked .006" bristol board. The door slammed behind her with a louder clamoring of the bell before the man could even recite the customary "Happy holidays" to her.
---
Faint clouds of vapor marked each exhale of the shop's employee as he stood outside of the entrance, turning a key firmly to lock the door. The sign above the door which read Uppercase was no longer lit purple, and the store's front window displayed a dark interior.
Replacing the ring of keys to its place on his belt loop, Fledermaus turned to step out onto the sidewalk. He stood at an average height, with dark brown wind-ruffled hair and corresponding eyes. He wore a black military-styled jacket over his vest and long-sleeved shirt, and his jeans were dark gray washed and slim, ending over a pair of dusty black dealer boots.
From his jacket's pocket, he produced a pack of cigarettes and lit the last remaining one, tossing the empty pack into a trash can absently as he stepped out onto the snow dusted street to cross. Distant police were lining the course of the upcoming parade with traffic cones and redirecting cars, while small crowds of bundled-up people were beginning to gather upon the sidewalks.
Fledermaus leaned over the short cement wall that marked the river's edge and gazed out onto the calm dark water, breathing out an exhale of light gray smoke. He couldn't wait until this most anticipated time of year was over.

.........

The cheerful tune of

The cheerful tune of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" filled the immediate area around the dark-haired young man. He alternated between whistling and humming the melody, glancing down at a paper pulled from one of his dark blue winter coat's pockets. Nodding to himself, Scape placed the list of names and gift ideas back in the pocket it came from, resuming looking where he was going.

Only a few more gifts to buy for the day, then it was off to rejoin his family and watch the parade. His good mood was apparent from the way he swung his shopping bags a bit at his side, still continuing to hum and whistle the tune.

[[Hi, I didn't know how else to start. SO YOU GET SCAPE FOR NOW. No I don't know where he is, nor do I know when/if I'll add the others. We'll see as more people join. =] ]]

Amid the flock of crowd goers, a figure was walking quickly. From his mouth hung a smoldering cigarette, and the persistent grin on his face indicated that he was amused for whatever reason. He strode with an overly confidant air about him and every so often he would make sloshed remarks to himself, and sometimes even to an innocent stranger who would return a look of bemusement. Plucking the remains of the cigarette from his mouth and casting it carelessly to the sidewalk, he picked up on the sound of holiday tunes drifting about the atmosphere.
"This music is shit!" He stated loudly, and very drunkenly, to himself. A nearby father gave him an incredulous look while herding his two young children out of the blond man's staggering path, and Masque gave a sneering glance in response. He shrugged a shoulder of the fawn colored pea coat he was wearing and shook his head in an agitated manner. And as if subjecting any bystanders to his intoxicated slurs wasn't enough, he would occasionally just walk right into people, and it wasn't long before Masque tripped over an unforeseen obstruction, landing him on the cold and slushy sidewalk on his hands and knees.
That complacent grin of his vanished, and was immediately replace by a scowl. Nothing could harm the man more than a dent in his pride, and that was exactly what had happened. It seemed as though he had walked into the bags that someone carried at their side, and was much too drunk to steady himself before falling over.

The air was cold. Tuna glared at no one in particular, damning Father Winter or whatever the hell the humans called him. Her thick coat, even with its faux-fur-lined hood, didn't keep out the chill, and she rubbed her arms vigorously. This place was way busier than the area around the apartments - then again, it seemed like every type of store in the world was mashed into the space along the streets. The young woman let out a foggy breath and leaned back against the building behind her.

A thought hit her, and she flicked out her cell phone. Scape had e-mailed around saying he'd be here this time of month. She sent a quick text to his phone - meet T @ the rose garden y/n? - and pushed send. With Bale on a trip and Her preoccupied with Key, she felt lonely, but more importantly, bored.

Scape finally ceased the tune when his phone buzzed in his pocket. Flipping it open to read the message and answer back, he failed to notice someone walking towards him until they walked right into his bags, falling to the slush-covered sidewalk. He stumbled some, barely keeping his grip on his stuff to keep it from meeting the same fate.

Turning gray eyes towards the fallen man - and wondering if he was drunk to walk into him - he put on a concerned face. "Sorry about that, didn't see you. You alright?"

While waiting for a response, he briefly glanced at the message again, not replying until he got an answer from the blond.

"The hell is wrong with you?" He snapped. "Are you blind? When I'm walking, get the hell out of my way."
A few people had turned to look at them, while others quickly walked by as if to avoid the scene.

The stillness and quiet winds that engulfed the lonely bridge were interrupted by brief noise. Instinctively, Fledermaus turned to look, not expecting to see a woman grasping onto the bridge's railing for support. Startled, he threw the cigarette into the water below and cautiously approached, looking around desperately for someone else to help.
"Are you alright?" He asked her nervously, offering his hand to assist her to stand.

He'd defend himself if that happened of course, but with it being so close to the holidays, and so many police officers being around, fighting was one of the last things he wanted to do.

Turning on his heel to continue walking, Scape remembered he still had his cell phone in hand, flipped open to the text Tuna had sent him. Paying better attention to where he was going lest another collision take place, he typed a reply and hit send.

"Some Christmas season..." Wyvern whispered to herself as she slowly walked across the bridge, bright lights and the afternoon sun's reflection shimmering on the black water beneath. The twenty-five-year-old woman had just recently broken up with Darcy, her mind as unorganized as the various sounds radiating from the sidewalk downtown. The cold winter air slowly rustled her short black hair, causing her to bury her hands deeper into the pockets of her vest. "I should have known," she confessed, her voice collecting in the air, cold and numb.

From the corner of his eye he saw a figure approaching them, illuminated by the orange glow of the bridge's street lamps. Immediately, Fledermaus turned his back to the man and faced the open harbor as though he was trying to conceal his identity, which he most certainly was. Masque might not behave so awfully in present company, but it was a much more promising alternative if he walked by without noticing his brother.
---

Meanwhile, the blond man was still fuming with anger as he turned onto the rather vacant bridge way over the dark blue water. His palms were still stinging from taking in most of his fall and his brisk walk was stiffened by aching knees. But it wasn't these that hurt the most, it was the fact that numerous people watched as he backed down after being humiliated.
He grunted bitterly as he passed a solitary woman with short black hair, and when he looked up from the ground he saw two people a few feet in front of him. One was his pushover of a brother, Fledermaus, and this encounter gave him the perfect chance to let some anger out, and he didn't care who knew it.

He could see a few other people ahead, Tuna included. His brows creased as he noticed she wasn't exactly standing. But there was another fellow who seemed to be of assistance, so he didn't need to speed up his gait. But then the blond called out.

Seems Scape was going to run into him anyway.

Fine. Let him be noticed. His reputation of dealing with people who didn't know when to quit being jack-offs hadn't come out of thin air.

He reached the bridge, too focused on his destination to notice if he'd passed anyone. Glancing once at Tuna to nod his greeting, he brought his cool gray gaze back to the blond, letting his expression say how displeased he was with the situation. "There a problem here?" She was one of those juvenile young-adults that still enjoyed thrilling herself with the "fluffy white stuff" and wasn't bothered much by the cold. In fact, she was merely outside to enjoy it, taking a walk just because. She seems to do that a lot.

Seemingly amused, Masque halted for a moment to stare at him as if he was disbelieving what he heard.
"Keep your fucking mouth shut." He snapped at him, giving another forceful shove on the shoulder this time.

Now, there was another on the scene, and this woman had no problem whatsoever coming right up to him to tell him off.
"How about you stay out of this?" He snarled vehemently, doing his best to refrain himself from breaking the finger pointed at him. There was Scape, she pointed out, and her shipmate Tuna, but all the rest were a blur. It looked like a bloody dance-off was about to begin but she knew this was not so. Just a little wishful thinking. Key'd win that, she thought, but that was at the far end of her mind and of the least concern (though it did lighten her up a bit to the point that she could actually be brave and step right on through the crowd).

She budged on through the trees and stopped a few feet from the gruff male, cooing a little, "Excuse me," with eyelashes batting against her cheeks. She inwardly thanked the Lord when his attention was shifted to her and she clasped her hands together, acting fakely like a damsel that needed oh-so much help. That would be sure to tip his hat off the wrong way and it's what she aimed for. He wore the Look that demanded a brawl and if he wanted one, so be it, but she was not going to let the people gathered around be the victims of his drunken bloodshed whether she knew them or not.

She had a little more to say to tempt him to approach her alone and leave the others behind, but the Look he wore became increasingly worse with each second she stood there like a mute. Maybe actions spoke louder than words, after all, so she swallowed her sentences and waited for his response.

Something about her friend stopping her from a brawl was unsteadying her. She did not enjoy the thought of that cocky blond taking everything into her own hands, oh, no.

After all, if she died, who was going to scrape her driveway?
In defeat, she plopped her butt on the ground, legs and arms crossed.

"Hah, are you kidding me? This loser?" He gestured to his brother incredulously, "He's done nothing with his life, and he never will because he's the most pathetic excuse for a human being I've ever known." He chuckled and turned his attention to the silent Fledermaus before continuing, "Go on, tell them what exactly you've ever accomplished." He dared, to which the other said nothing and continued to avoid his gaze.
Smirking contently, Masque declared "See?"

Her gave a single and short little laugh that was louder than she thought it would be. Covering her mouth, she stared up at Masque with eyes glazed over in humored enjoyment. What a pathetic villain!

"Fine. If you all want to

"Fine. If you all want to fight, I'm not going to stop you," Wyvern shrugged as she sidestepped out of the confrontation. She couldn't argue with friends, nevermind a group of strangers. "I can only hope that you'll work things out without violence. Happy holidays." With that, the young woman threw her arms in the air only to have them fall back to her sides in an unenthusiastic display. She then proceeded further down the bridge, her mind still lingering on the others' words.
