Not like most Fairytales; The oak speaks to Briar

"what's that grandma oak?"

The creature's eyes slip open slowly, revealing shards of pink between ruby lids.

...

Yes.

I understand"

He rises to his hooves, standing before the entrance of the empty oak tree, and in a bang, a blaze, silence, red and gold, the gods stand within, no longer is the oak empty.

You have heard our Tale

What will your judgement be?

The deer's tail swings, barbed wire jingling in his tines, glimmering, like little captured stars.

After many moments of contemplation his head swings upwards, a hoof coming down upon the ground, loud, like thunder.

"Help him, or open the doorways of this forest, that I might help him myself!"

His words are strong, eyes blazing with a fire rarely shown.

He seems slow, but he is wise, an intelligence that shines from the heart.

His great body swings upwards in a rear, tail lashing.
"To harm another because of love, is the worst crime one could commit. To do wrong to others, kills the heart slowly"

His body comes down again, fur fluttering in the wind of his movements.

"Anyone who would say otherwise, has never loved for themselves!"

The fur of his cheeks is wet, has he been crying?

"And so I plead that you spare him" he swings his head, looking up at the gods, he is small compared to them, but if he is frightened it does not show.

"What kind of gods would you be if you did not spare someone in the name of love? I plead that you save them both!"

He sinks to his front knees in a bow.

"prove that you are true gods"

The great creatures in the tree do not speak, merely disappearing.

The oak's song continues.

Tattered ears flick, standing again, and he is quiet.

A butterfly flits past.

"pretty flying flower!"

he prances after it as if nothing has happened.
