A P P E A R A N C E
During fawnhood, Ezem was a regular-sized fawn, but she seemed to have skipped a much-needed growth spurt when she turned ten.
Because of this, she stays at the same size a regular female roe deer is, who she often dubs herself as. Her features have stayed very young.
Face.
Yes, Ezem is a regular tef deer with the face of a human. Her skin is a dark chocolate colour, dotted with many dark freckles all along her face, but mostly on her nose, forehead, and under her eyes. Her fur comes along her hairline and neck, flowing backwards to make a large, erect mohawk along the back of her neck.
Her eyes are wide, live, and wild, ringed with a bright white sclera and complimented with beautiful light-olive irises. Her pupils are regularly slits in the light, but open up in the dark or when she is overcome with high adrenaline. They sit with a calm, sloped look to them, her upper eyelids softly hanging over them.
On the side of her head sit large, pointed ears. Her nose is rather upturned and small. Her mouth lined with light, thick lips that emit dimples on each corner when she smiles. Her face lined with soft grooves.
However, most of this stays covered by her skulls.
Body.
Ezem has a rather athletic build, with muscles softly chiseled beneath her fur. Her legs are long and skinny, mounted below a thin, short body.
Fur grows heavily and long on her shoulders and rump; common spots she puts her bone jewelry at.
The rest of her fur is medium-length and is a dark chocolate-brown. She has the traditional monarch-styled pelt with light fawnspots still heavily lining her rump.
Tail.
Her tail is very impressive as it is covered in very long fur. This place will be the spot with the most plentiful of bones she decorates with. When she walks, they jingle loudly and create a sound similar to hollow sticks hitting together.
G E N E S I S
Ezem's origin is unknown, and unable to be told because even she herself can't recall any traditional-style birth. Seems to have just "woken up" one day and knew the forest like she had been here her whole life. Considers herself a daughter of the gods.
The earliest memory she can recall, however, was in her fawnhood. She remembers waking up on a chilly, heavily-foggy day in the forest in a little patch of grass in both the Statues' and the Pond's sight. This, however, was not so significant to her.
She remembers seeing the Ruins through the fog, and becoming so terrified of the deathly place she did not even come in sight distance for several months of her "birth". Gradually, over time, the encouragement of friends and curiosity slowly brought her closer and closer to the Ruins. She now clings to the Ruins like a home, extremely attached to. If not active or with another deer, she is mostly seen there where she keeps her collection of bones.
During this time to the day she became an adult, Ezem had no name. She knew the glowing pictogram above her was there and represented her in some way, but she had no idea how to pronounce the strange markings and tell others who she was.
Because of her strong emotional attachment to bones, the doe made up her own name on the day she turned 10, "Ezem" meaning, to her, "bones".
Because of her mysterious origin, Ezem grew up not knowing the meanings of basic nouns like "mother", "father", "sibling", "offspring/child/baby", "mate", or verbs such as "birthing", "mating", "dying", etc. She did not know where she came from, where others came from, or where they go when the disappear. She also did not understand age, and will treat deer of any age the same. She can also form crushes on deer much older or younger than her. However, she is often drawn to other deer around the same age, for reasons she doesn't understand.
However, as time has gone by, Ezem has finally grasped simple understandings of these words and ideas now.
H O B B Y
Ezem is often seen at a little spot at the Ruins she calls her home. While this spot never had any significance to her, she has adopted it for its closed-in and covered feel to it, making her comfortable enough to keep her prized collection of bones and feathers.
If not busy with other things, Ezem collects various feathers and bones she finds dropped in the forest, in the pond, uprooted at the Ruins, or as gifts. Her bones can range from simple teeth (and maybe claws, even though they are not bone), to full skulls she will often switch out and wear instead of her current, main one.
Most of her feathers belong to the sparrows flocking in the Birch Forest, where she goes often. Ezem can be seen rubbing Birch trees for their sticky sap, which has permanently tainted her pelt with its scent, to "glue" her trinkets into her fur, or onto string she gets from other deer to make jewelry.
She is also commonly seen at the Pond. Either collecting fish bones, washing off, or just playing around.
At the Ruins, the rain causes a lot of bones to become uprooted from their graves. While Ezem feels rather uncomfortable messing with the dead, the takes them and gives them a home to be safe at. She highly respects bones she finds there, and never digs for them. Will not tolerate deer who do.
Since her fawnhood, Ezem has grown an extreme emotional attachment to bones, to the point of naming herself after them. She admires them greatly, finds them beautiful, and hopes her bones will one day be cherished by someone who loves them as much as she does. She will almost never go out without her bone jewelry, or her
skull mask, which she cherishes the most of all. She takes care of them and cleans the regularly to make sure they never get damaged.
Despite being so close to her collection, she will often give some bone or feather gifts to deer she has wronged to make up for her ill behaviour.
G O O D
- Very social and friendly. Loves interaction.
- Will tend to greet random deer and run off to greet the next.
- Affectionate and extremely playful. Will tend to rub and sit down by other deer without consent. Often used as a greeting.
- Highly energetic. Hops A LOT. However, will have an occasional calm spell and will like to simply walk to-and-fro, and to just settle down and admire.
- Understands forest etiquette well, and is very compliant and doesn't like to upset others. If she does end up hurting someone, her guilt will get to her and she will often give bone and feather gifts.
- Generally polite or tries to be. Always bows first before anything and -tries to- bow before leaving. Never taunts or intentionally try to hurt someone.
- Loves to gossip and communicate with the deer around her. Loves to trade items with others and get news. May know something about another character before they even meet.
- She easily forms crushes, but it will take a lot of interaction for her to imagine wanting to have a mate or baby. Not one to flirt, either. A little awkward with these situations.
B A D
- Naive and carefree. Will accidentally get herself into incidents.
- Can easily come off as annoying.
- Elfish. Basically, she is a tiny bone child that hops around untiringly.
- Slightly judgmental. She is more hesitant to greet larger deer than others. More attracted to play with fawns than adults. Deep fascination with skull-faced deer, but is shy to approach than other deer.
- Generally handles unfriendly deer well, but has a fiery childish temperament and will be stubborn to let overly rude deer get away without a bite or kick before running off.
- However, will flee if a fight starts around her or hide behind other deer or objects. Very fearful of fights and hates to see them.
- Most of her crushes are with the intimidating, infamous, and bad-boy deer.
- Easily manipulated. If a group she is with starts doing this or that, whether or not she agrees, she will do it to fit in and make them happy. This including doing bad stuff.
I'm curious.
