The Nightmare was so close to his victory, it made him want to prolong it. This moment was worth to enjoy, to savour, to celebrate. For so long he had pursued the cripple's dreams, facing war with the nicest of mental images the small broken creature had.

Large jaws carried the limp and dirty corpse around the forest, before getting bored of the taste of death's physical form.
He began carrying it in his black vine's embrace, playing with it like a doll.
Whenever he sat, he had Nidhem's body between his crooked limbs, watching the forest and everyone passing by, whispering cruelty into the buck's ear, forming the pitch black lullaby for his final journey.

No one could steal his victory from him...

...or could they?

Oh yes, there is a way to defeat a Nightmare...

Anyone can defeat a Nightmare.

His physical form will not take hits as he is only a shadow, a puff of dark smoke.
He will not bleed, nor does he have bones to break.
He is the mental form of your worst nightmares, a shapeshifter of the night.

Approaching him ties you closer with his black vines, but do not fear, as he has no interest towards your life. Only what you know of his current victim, Nidhem.
What do you remember about the crippled buck, exactly?
Do you even know him?

Telling your strongest and most meaningful encounter might weaken the darkness. It is a sign Nidhem is remembered, and he has once brought at least something positive into the lives of others. The Nightmare can be proved to be wrong, that his words are nothing but a lie to weaken the already broken thing.

It doesn't matter if you do not even know him, or recall any positive encounter.
Things that bring happiness, especially butterflies, flowers and toys are poison for the lord of the sad and scaring dreams.
Gather them to the Oak, the place Nidhem laid his head for the last time.
Lay them on the soft sheepskin there, and smile at the beauty which will eventually chase the Nightmare away.

_______________________________________________________________

HELLO. I finally got to the point where people can participate! In the story there was already hints what could be used to defeat the Nightmare.

ANYONE CAN TAKE PART IN THIS.

Some more info for you:

It doesn't matter if your character has never met Nidhem. They can do big things with small deeds like collecting flowers and butterflies or other beautiful things. Nidhem really loves those. I imagine they'd be gathered into the Oak, on the sheepskin Nidhem had before he was stolen.

If your character knows Nidhem however, and has meaningful memories of him, even better.
They can confront the Nightmare and tell him their story. Stronger the memory, larger the damage. (Many can be told, I'm not stopping ya.)

You can reply to this with any format you want. You can write, draw, take a screenshot, do a little rp etc. (That last picture there will actually be updated with every participation BD)
This plot is not meant to shed blood, so attacking the Nightmare is pretty useless. He just vanishes like smoke. (I'm not telling characters can't try though!)

The Nightmare will roam around the forest using this picto: X

for Nid's sake I'd really appreciate a participation if you feel like it ♥

Okay I have no idea how to

Okay I have no idea how to start but here we go...
-----------------------------------------------------

Though Kurami and Nidhem had spent such little time together, the sight of the black figure and Nidhem's small body entangled in the mass of blackness mortified the stag to the point where he was nervous to approach. He lingered on the spot until staring became too uncomfortable. He began to pace around the ruins, looking at the different angles to try and work out what the creature was and why it had Nidhem's body. But every angle was just as confusing and upsetting.
Kurami eventually sat a small distance away, close enough for the creature to hear but far away enough that the sight of the buck’s body was hidden so that the stag could control his thoughts.
Then he began recollecting the small amount of memories he had of Nidhem, how they had met in the blue bowl, how they had sat and played in the flower patches with the butterflies, how Kurami had met 6 through Nidhem from a misunderstanding of communication, how Kurami had stayed with Nid and sheltered him when he slept, through the snow and rain. These brief encounters might not have meant much to the little buck, he may not have seen Kurami as someone significant, but memories are memories that mean the world to Kurami and this creature before him had no right to take Nidhem like this.
Kurami tried to ready himself to talk to the creature before him, to confront it, to tell it all of the memories even though they seemed so little. Kurami hoped that this would release the creatures grasp of Nidhem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will add what he actually says a little later, I just didn't know how to start it off ;-;

LostintheEcho: For his time

LostintheEcho:

For his time he had sat on the stone, a hoarse and light chuckle following his mutters pointed at the lifeless body between his twisted forelimbs. He had noticed this creature lingering near, turning his grin into a serious gaze as he followed the male's movements from the corner of his eyepits which held no real eyes in them. He could see the look in its eyes, causing a smirk to reveal the hidden teeth.
Who was this? A poor lost soul seeing his victory as food? He was quite puzzled.

For what purpose do you circle and stare at me like that, critter? You're eyeing my little prize I see. It's not for you.

The rough voice came through without his jaws making any movement, while the dark worms wisped and waved on the platform below the thing, both caressing and tugging the buck's corpse.

( Hope a small rp is okay. This plot is really interesting. ;_; )

The large female had followed the dark, strange creature with narrowed eyes for a while now, teeth clenched as she watched how he seemed to toy with her nephew's lifeless body. Illrose's heart had jumped in her chest when she at first had laid her eyes upon the two of them, and she had nearly acted on pure instinct, almost charged at the creature who seemed to have murdered Nidhem. But something had held her back. Was her nephew really dead? No. The thought wasn't allowed to even enter her mind. In the end she had decided to stay back for a while, just observing the creature, restraining the rage and the urge to attack, to rip the creature apart. A heavy snort - the sound made hollow thanks to the skull mask - could be heard, and then she finally moved forward. Slow steps brought her closer to the black creature - and her nephew. For a moment her pale eyes rested on Nidhem's small form, the state he was in almost turned the rage into despair, but the despair was quickly pushed aside. This was not a moment for weakness. And soon she came to a halt directly in front of the creature.
"Who are you?" She then asked the creature, a growl twined into her voice. This was only one of many questions she had, but for now Illrose started with just this one. Ears pinned to her neck, while her eyes again fell to her nephew, searching for even a slightest sign of life.

Snow: During a silent walk

Snow:

During a silent walk around the forest he had not been bothered by many. Some tried to come close, but were off as soon as the black matter tangled their legs and head. He had seen this female in the distance whenever he had turned his head.
By the time the heavy looking body approached, it was not a surprise to him. He actually recognized this specific creature. A smirk very slowly appeared on his pitch black face, the dark smoke seeming to begin flowing towards the direction of the one speaking to him. A slow headtilt, bottomless eyes watching.

I don't see a reason it'd interest you... But I am a... ah, friend. A companion.

The almost hissing voice was followed with a deep and long chuckle, as the vines turned the buck's body around under the creature, like roasting him over a fire.

You may not know me, but I know you. Ahhh I really do. Seen you so many times.

Teasingly slow the black things grabbed the buck's hindlegs, still supporting the head as the dark body pulled him from between his forelegs, hanging the body next to his head like a hunter with his trophy kill.

His dreams had me meeting you. Too bad those are long gone now.

A small doe made her way silently down the hill, approaching the Ruins. Ahead of her she spotted a large, dark shape... and it was carrying something?
The doe slowly approached the beast, her eyes widening as she saw the dead fawn being carried by the vines beneath the beast.
Mariana stared, lost for words, at the beast that stood before her.
"What a noble effort. Slinging around a body like that with you. How disrespectful. The dead should be able to lie in peace."
Wide pink eyes stared the nightmare in the face.
"You think you are so scary. You are nothing but a coward who preys on the weak and innocent."

Vaharo had been flying

Vaharo had been flying through the forest, dodging trees and swooping under branches, until a black shadow grasped the corner of his eye. He extended his wings, letting the air push back on them to slow his speed to a hover. He turned and stared at it, mouth agape. This creature was a living nightmare, it was black as night and very large. It had tendrils escaping from its body as it sulked about. Vaharo squinted his eyes and saw something caught in the bottom of its tendrils, it was a deer. Vaharo threw his head back and laid his ears backward as far as they could go. He couldn't believe what he saw, but seeing the creature roam about was proof enough for him. He felt the overwhelming urge to fly as far from the nightmare as he could, but something else inside of him was screaming to go and help the poor soul the nightmare had abducted. He shifted his gaze to a patch of purple flowers growing nearby. Vaharo landed near them and grabbed a bundle of flowers in his jaws, he figured he ought to have something that showed light and loveliness when facing such darkness. He turned and leaped into the air, unfolding his wings and gliding towards the nightmare. He folded his wings and skidded to a halt near it, shifting himself into a defensive position and lowering his head in a snarl. His voice lowered, he growled to the beast, "What are you doing with him..?"

Hope you don't mind my sudden post. ;-;

Keyblade: A small thing. A

Keyblade:

A small thing. A child approached? Not even that much larger than the corpse he held with him. The words being spat at him got his immediate attention as they were nothing like a child's, and the crooked forelimbs stepped into a wider position with the claws scraping the ground. A louder snorting sound was returned, and he stared down at the small thing.

What does a pipsqueak like you even care? If you'd know this little monster here, you'd be glad I'm removing him from this world.

Somehow the act of caring about the useless body without a heartbeat felt odd inside him. What would it even mean really?
Kallonate's picture

Staff: The sound of wings

Staff:

The sound of wings swirling above was hardly giving him anything to be interested in. Large birds and bats flew around everywhere in this damned place. However, when the wingspan was so large, and it's beating hum so loud, he was eventually turning his gaze at the creature. It reminded him of one other beast that had visited his prey's dreams, one of those dreams he had shaken and destroyed. He watched closely, as this one seemed to be in need of something. Apparently an answer.

None of your concern, critter. I am simply taking him to where he belongs after his deeds.

Even if it wasn't clear, the eyes did visit the patch of color the creature had brought with it.

"He seems rather unwilling...

"He seems rather unwilling... or are you just doing your guardian duties? I'm not buying it." Vaharo snarled, flicking his tail around while he walked, eyes still clasped on this nightmare. He set one hoof in front of the other, his gaze never turning, until he stopped in front of this darkness, the flowers still in his jaws. They slightly fluttered with a passing breeze, keeping their pretty little look about them. Vaharo envied those little flowers, they had no thought, no feelings, no sight to see the evil that stood in front of him. All they could do was live to flutter in the wind, and add light to a dark place. Light to a dark place.. that seemed fitting given the current situation.

Staff: He did not feel very

Staff:

He did not feel very admired with all the snarls and stares, and returned them out of politeness. Still, the way the critter came closer with that bunch of colored plants with a strong scent, he felt awfully threathened. Quickly the head was taken higher and away from the other, voice kept strong.

Hah, and how does it actually make a problem if I do whatever my duty is and take him? He's pretty useless anyway isn't he...

Hälla stared at the beast

Hälla stared at the beast which held a smitten, small buck in winding tendrils. She should have felt unnerved by the Nightmare, but instead she found herself captivated by intrigue. Yet she could feel from the prickling sensation that shook her bones - something was wrong here. This was no creature to behold in awe, rather with disgust and horror. She eyed the scene for quite some time, analyzing the poor, lifeless body, held limp in a prison even the gone should not endure. Her brow bone slightly furrowed above red eyes, the small grey doe turned from the sight and sought the sanctuary of her home, where various treasures lay secured from the world. She did not know the deceased, but that did not stop the urge to be selfless and offer a token of hope for his spirit. No body should be held by something so ghastly, and so she would attempt to ease the blow of such a monstrosity with a gift.

From the spindly, long roots of her tree she pulled a vine. Attached to the vine was a lone, speckled feather. Of black hue, across its surface was white, peppered generously near the tips and fading out near the center. One of many gifted to her by Rayiz. It held something of value, knitted with the love of a gift, and it was kind to the eyes. Delicately drawing the vine to her mouth, she returned to the graveyard and found her red eyes settling on the Nightmare for a second time. Like prior, she stood to passively observe, unmoving and watchful as she assessed. Her heart clenched lightly at the sight of the lifeless, and red eyes narrowing on the beast who radiated such an evil aura, the grey doe took bold steps forth and set the feather necklace on a lone post at the graveyard.

"May you find peace," she said softly to the body, unflinching as she gazed at the spider-like contraption in which Nidhem hung. Hälla withdrew a few steps to regard the Nightmare. "I don't know him, nor you," she spoke. "But surely none deserve such a prison. Particularly none that look so helplessly kind as he..." her voice drifted off and she took a step back.

Yet another small deer had

Yet another small deer had caught the dark eyes. Its moves swift, coming and going again. Another being shaken by his appearance and his very self. Just like it should be. He had gotten a rather comfortable position as the smoke layered down the stone and onto the ground, creating a gloomy veil over the green. The stares were soon gone, like so many others...

But then it was there again. The striped gray was there to stare, to judge. The black nails drawing figures on the messy fur of the brown buck, vines curling around him constantly.
Then a move from the small one. Now what was this? And why?
The Nightmare had a confused look, frustrated as he could not understand this. Why in the world there'd be someone he had not met in the buck's dreams, giving away such things?

With a swift movement he was up again, black thin members grabbing the body again to hold it under his black form. For a while he stood there, watching. The words given to him gained a long, increasing growl as he came down from the platform, walking to the gift, trying to understand what it was for. As soon as he tried to make steps past it, it was drawn into his figure, attaching itself to the side of the Nightmare, totally striking him with surprise. As he winced to the awful need to get the thing off of him, his long tail like formation swiped around as a whip, before the Nightmare pulled back, growling towards the critter that had brought this awful thing now causing a white crack to form on his side, the vine and feather staying on him no matter how he struggled to get rid of it.

You, you little damned thing...! Begone with you, do not bring your nose where it doesn't belong!

His reply was like a hiss, furious, scared by the intense feeling inside. Whatever just happened, it had caused the Nightmare to re-evaluate the power these creatures had.
And so, he wisped around another thick veil of darkness which eventually granted him escape from this scene, hiding somewhere else.

Her voice was almost a hiss as she turned her head to look at the purple flowers that sat in a patch nearby. With a few quick movements she retrieved a single purple orchid from the patch.
"May you rest in peace little one..."
Mari let her voice trail off as she placed the orchid in a crack of the nearby Ruins, allowing it to stand tall. With one last glare at the large dark creature, she huffed off in the direction of the Pond.

In the jaws was carefully

In the jaws was carefully held a delicate scale. It glimmered whenever light peaked through the forest's vast canopy above. A mixture of blue, green, and yellow hues seemed to grace it's surface like a swift bird dashing from a piece of sunshine to the next. It seemed that digging around for some treasure was worth it; uncovering a myriad of different fish scales in which he seemed to have buried at one point in his life. He remembered it earlier, however vague, but had given a few to those closest in his life and kept the others for something else of possibly more importance.

The buck had watched closely as his mother presented the gift to the black figure with the lifeless clung in it's branches underneath the ashen chest. He experienced what it had done to the captor, but this was not the only reason he was there. Sympathy had ultimately made it's way into the buck's being, and a strong willingness to help had overcame him. Perhaps, if he could do anything, free the soul that was held in such a prison. A bird could not be truly free in a cage, no matter the stage in life.

He held himself tall, and the dragon's gaze only gave the creature a single glance before his attention focused on the small body beneath. Neck dipped and head rather low to the ground to get a better look at the captured, he placed the scale down, perhaps flicking his hoof toward the gift to send it closer to who he was addressing, and spoke.

"I've never met you before, nor have I heard of you...," He began, staring directly at the lifeless body. "But I figured this would help. Despite the fact you may not be with us anymore, perhaps we can be friends. If you'd like." And Fletcher backed away carefully, taking a last look at the prisoner before heading off. He had seen how violent it had reacted.

Her eyes narrowed even more at the sight of the black smoke-like substance flowing in her direaction. And his voice - and chuckle - made her ears flatten even more against her neck. Everything about this creature seemed add fuel to the fire, making the rage Illrose felt grow. And still she stood still, for a moment motionless like a statue. But then the corners of her mouth curled up in a cold smile, invisible to the creature, but it was still possible to hear on her voice that she was smiling, when Illrose spoke again.
"But if you do know me - as you say - then I'm sure you understand why it does interest me." Many would perhaps have pulled away from the creature, but Illrose took a heavy step forward instead. Then another one, slow steps bringing her even closer to the creature - and even more importantly, her nephew.
"And you should know that Nidhem have been through many trials, and that I have been standing by his side through all of them. As I will stand by his side through this." The anger she felt towards the creature was not to be heard in her firm voice, and the smile was still on her lips, as she remembered all those moments she had shared with Nidhem. All the conversations, the romping, her trying to pick him up again when he felt down because of Umay or Morgül. The travel to the other world where Nidhem had visited her cave when she had had to remove his injured leg. Perhaps she had failed this time, failed to be by Nidhem's side, but Illrose would still try to free Nidhem from this creature's graps.

Keyblade: The flower brought

Keyblade:

The flower brought so near to his resting place he felt it as a threat, like the flower was seeping his smoke into it, cleaning the air. Whenever he went close, it was there to suppress his very self.

I do not understand this...

The darkness felt the day becoming brighter once again.

Thank you Keyblade! ;u;

Silverfang:

The creatures came one after another. Small, large, young, old. The Nightmare could not recognize many, not remembering any of these faces from his victims dreams. Neither did he know this critter who was the next to approach him with the item which was like a beacon of light whenever he stepped across a spot that light touched. The color and light was everywhere, feeling like pins and needles on the beast's skinless body. Even worse when it was brought so close. It pinned the smoke on its place, not wanting to get near of that thing that was presented to the body he had in his tight hold. A disgusted face was given towards it, air feeling stiff.

What...

His grip slipped, almost dropping the body from his grasp before he corrected himself, having to make a move closer. It made him close the distance and with a burst of light the scale was now attached to him, creating a cracking wound around its resting place. The Nightmare was spooked badly by this, and pulled away into a more dark corner to hide his pain.
-----------
Thank you so much, that is such a great gift ;o; ♥
-----------
Snow:

The large female was welcomed near with the long vines reaching for her, slithering and tangling loosely around her head and neck. Smoke around her darkened the view, not much being seen through it. Her voice got the Nightmare closer, to a distance where mere whispers would do the talking. Something brought an uncomfortable feeling to him, running through the veins of darkness in him. It made him uneasy, pulling the crippled body closer against himself, tying it against the dark chest, smoke trying to hide it away. No, his prize was not for stealing.

The doe's words made him remember some of the many dreams the buck had seen. How he missed the missed the day when he had gotten to fly, the softness of his aunt's lap as he slept peacefully, no pain coming through when he had lost his leg. Those moments he had seeked for advice, and in his dreams they had echoed to remind him.

Suddenly, a twitch from the lifeless body. A troubled stare was returned to the one before the Nightmare, as a growl slowly rose from deep inside, feeling threathened.

You should have seen his tears as he did not get remembered by you. How he weeped in the need of warmth, forgetting how it felt even. And now you tell me you're with him? That you care for him? We'll see! We'll see!

It was all talk of the beast that started to feel weak, using words of feelings as it tried to get the other give up. Hasty steps were taken back as the vines retreated, gaze locked into the one before him.

Ahhh so much replies I'm gonna die of happiness wheeeee~
Snowsauria's picture

A growl rumbled in her chest

A growl rumbled in her chest as the vines tangled around her head and neck, the smoke blocking most of her view, made it almost impossible to spot Nidhem through the blackness of the smoke, the vines and the creature itself. But Illrose still stood her ground, not moving back an inch. And again she had to resist the urge to charge when she saw how the creature pulled Nidhem back, hiding him away. All she wanted to do was to charge forward and pull her nephew free from the creature's grasp. The creature's words, however, was able to make the smile finally fade from her lips. Because Illrose felt like he was right; would Nidhem have been in this mess if she had truly been there for him? Suddenly Illrose shook her large, bloodred antlers, as if to shake the depressing thoughts out of her head.
"I'm here now, am I not?" Illrose snarled, taking more steps forward as the creature pulled back.
"I am with him now, and I will care for him and he will remember how it feels to be warm and secure. We will run through the forest again, sit among the flowers and watch the butterflies - and perhaps even fly again." Yes, she would definitely invite Nidhem to the other world again, if he got out of this. And this time they would fly just for the sake of flying, not because of a wounded leg.

Pan doesn't know Nid well or on good terms, but going through her own personal hell with her demons, thought she'd say something c: Alsobecauseawesomeplotisawesome.

The winds bring to her the foul smell of treachery, of wrongness; so much evil in the world, so much to be rid of. She feels the ache of her ghost limbs as her lost fingers clench in heartless anxiety. And then, the iridescent black doe picks herself up on sturdy legs, takes one step, another, her stride proud and head held high with dignity. She would not skulk to the evil as the thing would probably like. No. She would not allow more evil to claim yet more souls.
She had already lost hers- but perhaps she could save another.
"You carry him like a puppet, and yet you are the one attached to his strings." She speaks with scorn, disgust, mockery. The enormous black beast does not inspire fear, only deep-set fury in her mind. "You exist for him. Pathetic. He rules you- and I know he always will. He is the forest's Nidhem. You are nothing compared to him." She had hurt the little one before, she knows- but once upon a time, this one was Umay's son. For all their problems, she couldn't allow him to be taken in such a terrible way. "We will have him back, because the forest needs him. You may crawl back to the scumhole in which your tattered carcass resides."

Snow: Her resistance for his

Snow:

Her resistance for his victory was strong. Even stronger than her physical form. No matter how he tried to get her to give in, she was still there.
He felt the weak wriggling in the middle of his cage built with vines, as the corpse seemed to be resisting him too, demanding to get out and towards the doe. The Nightmare was being herded by the words and aura, a bright and burning flame suffocating the black neck of his, closing it and denying him to say anything back. This form of feeling he could not intervene. The deep attachment was there even if they both had forgotten something, even if they had slipped away from each other's minds.

Crooked limbs changing and twisting around on the ground the Nightmare was pushed back, a bright white crack opening his neck and looking like it bled... but it was not blood. More like tears being released and trailing along his form, and the lord of bad dreams had no choice but to escape, hiding in a large shadow and vanishing away.

{ You have quite a few

{ You have quite a few roleplays running already, I see... but I would so love to involve Talla, I've been really excited for this. }

-

A figure moved through the forest. It did not move with thundering steps, nor bare loft an impressive rack of antlers. She moved smoothly. Not beautifully, but in the most natural and comfortable of ways that an animal can. The little blue doe's stride suddenly ceased as she halted, ears pricking and a shudder running from the shoulder scars and across the rest of her body. Her gaze tossed one way and then the other - something was amiss.

It was then that her brown eyes rested upon the Nightmare, sitting as calmly as if nothing at all felt wrong. All shadow, it was, and somehow her eyes had missed it when they first searched. An ear tilted back, but curiosity drove her a few steps forward. Of course, that was until she saw what it held.

She wasn't a fighter - her blood did not run hot at the prospect at battle, nor her hooves itch to lash at flesh. When Talla felt danger was closing in, she ran. The urge to do so now struck her legs powerfully, and yet a stronger desire resided. To assist a friend in need.

Slowly, the blue roe deer approached the shadow beast. Pointed forward were her ears as she did not dare to take attention from it.

"E-exc-cuse me," she began, a strong thudding in her chest, and it could be no other organ but her heart, "I m-must in-insist y-you rel-lease N-nn-nidhem," she forced her head to rise, "H-he doesn't d-deserve to b-be treated this w-way."

Vaharo stopped suddenly with the snarl that was given back to him. The creature looked far more menacing when it showed signs of aggression. But he shook his head with a snort and moved a bit closer, flowers still clamped in his jaws. He listened as the nightmare spoke to him, and his last words, "He's pretty useless anyway isn't he..." stuck in Vaharo's mind. After hearing such a thing, Vaharo let his inner anger go free, and he flew at the tendrils holding this deer, and tried to clamp on them with his jaws, dropping the flowers in the process.

The form would easily tell him that this critter had been troubled by his far away 'cousins.' There was the familiar home-like feeling as the female came close. It made the beast smirk, teeth being the only white thing that would appear in him. Surely this thing wasn't there for his prize?

Vines were holding the body quite loose under his stomach, not expecting any harm from this next encounter, as the critter felt like something he'd attach to if he did not have this one special corpse under his care already. The dark veil was even inviting her closer, sweeping the ground under her and caressing her features.

A head tilt as it seemed it wanted to speak, and soon the grin died. Words made of cold steel, slicing against him. Mocking him. Claiming him to be the weak. Why would this critter come and show such emotion, even if the Nightmare had clearly seen the cripple had long ago been banished from the tight group of knots he had once called family.

Solve your own puzzles, critter, this is not a maze for you to get lost in!

The Nightmare would turn sideways, clearly avoiding the sharp words and their might. The long tail was there to threathen, but would not touch, for it was not his business to get mixed into her own fights. It was not his puzzle nor maze to create or deepen. Soon the beast would have no choice but to avoid the critter, and attempt escape.

Oh gosh how I was surprised by your reply! Thanks a bunch ♥
And you're one to talk about awesome plots, pffft ;; finding myself drool over Pan's and wonder how masterpieces like that are even done. I admire you.

Ammy and Staff, I'll get to replying you two in a minute XD

Ammy: Something so little

Ammy:

Something so little went through the forest. Little by all aspects. Something to easily miss or easily target. An easy critter in every way. Or was she?

As soon as the timid steps had come close the beast's head turned, seeking for the doe with the empty eyes. Oh, one of the most recent visitors of Nidhem's dreams. She had made so many appearances in the dreamworld the Nightmare had lost count. He had had to get rid of her overly joyful image in the buck's mind so many times it had started to irritate him. Such a persistent figure. Still he did not feel like moving from his resting spot. No need. He'd scare the thing off.

Oh it's you... The butterfly friend. Ha ha ha... What you're asking isn't going to happen. He will be playing with me for all eternity soon you know.

Btw I don't mind the amount of rp because it's just great to have it all! I appreciate and love every single reply I get to this. Talla is such an important friend to him too so I'm glad about you jumping in ♥

Staff:

A sudden pounce from the thing. The vines squeezed the dead body in their grasp, pulling it swiftly inside the cloud of darkness and vanishing there, before the flowers that were dropped had come too close. They needed only one touch, and the beast's body reacted. Like a scratch they created a pattern of cracks on him, looking like a light would shine through them. How he encountered the feeling of caring was giving him a twist inside, and he was quick to avoid any other close encounters from the creature.

Now look what you've done, you nuisance! Leave us!

His hoarse spitting threat echoed around, before he would make sure to disappear from the animal's sight, not wanting to encounter them again.

Vaharo reeled back as the

Vaharo reeled back as the tendrils escaped into the darkness. He listened as the nightmare mocked him as a nuisance, then heard its threat. Vaharo was one to ignore threats, he had a natural stubbornness about him, either from his personality or blood of the dragon. His eyes flamed as he saw the dark creature trying to get out of sight, he wouldn't let that happen. For some reason, he felt inclined to save this deer. He hated the feeling of heroism, he didn't even know this deer! But why, why would that feeling be there if it wasn't right? Vaharo roared and lept into the air, soaring through the trees to try and keep up with the nightmare. The flowers still laid where they had originally been dropped.

//forgive me if I got this wrong x.x your last lines made it seem like the nightmare was trying to escape, since I'm dumb I had no idea if he is actually in the act of trying to get away or is thinking of doing so

I've planned something

I've planned something despite none of my boys knowing him. Deciding whether or not to draw it or just post it as a mini fic since I don't want to trouble you with more roleplay replies ahah <33
Kallonate's picture

Staff: :'D Yeah it was

Staff:

:'D Yeah it was supposed to be like that. And I think my reply now would be about him just continuing to escape until he could find a big enough dark gap where he could hide and get rid of Vaharo. The persistence of the chase would deepen the damage of course.

Kaoori:

Yep, you can reply with art and that would be actually a great honor to receive such participation ♥

WhiteWarlord:

Awww oh you. ♥ Whatever form suits you, it can be anything~

That the beast knew her came

That the beast knew her came as a shock, and behind her mask, the little doe's eyes were wide. If the shadow beast had said her name, perhaps it would not have been so startling ... yet instead it had stated who she was to Nidhem, "Y-yes, th-that's who I a-am." she stuttered.

And, if that's who she was, then she would ask the butterfly to come. Atvana had once told Talla that she need only want it to be present, and the blue butterfly would arrive shortly after. It had never failed. That was... years ago. Whether it was the same butterfly or not she did not know, but it was Atvana always.

An ear swivelled, listening for the butterfly. Once again, the doe spoke, stutters littering her articulation, “Y-you c-ca-can’t, he d-doesn’t belong to y-you; or a-anyone." A small hoof stomp, a mixture of fear and distress, "L-let my fr-fr-friend go. Wh-what have y-y-you done to h-him, wh-what have y-you do-done to m-my friend?" Her voice was one of concern, heavily laced with fear. Tenseness was her body’s state, with each muscle and fibre as if coiled and merely waiting to spring.

There. A sound so faint, but also so well known. The soft flutter of a butterfly's wings got gradually louder until the blue butterfly landed between her ears. It seemed calm - as if the doe it sat upon did not tremble.

Ammy: The spike-like ears

Ammy:

The spike-like ears formed from the constantly moving haze his body was made of, and the head was kept towards the smaller with his whole keeping still. With the stuttering words the beast grew restless, and slowly the darkness lifted him up from the spot he laid on, creating new and thicker vines to hold the body of the buck while he stepped closer to the doe. The last repeated question twisted the neck of his into a tilt, and a grin formed.

I only did what he deserved. Such a selfish thing...

A chuckle, as the long members curled around the cracked skull of the buck's, lifting it up before letting it drop, hanging.

What possibly could you do about that?

Before he got an answer, his eyes were set on the butterfly that fluttered from the forest's depths and sat on the doe's head. The Nightmare frozen in place, his smoke seeming to flow away with every single gentle wingbeat the butterfly made. Soon it brought a fear-like look on the dark thing's face, not that hidden anymore after the smoke had started to escape to the other direction.

Get... Get that critter away.

He commanded, still himself appearing weak as he took a step away. Still his bottomless gaze was stuck on it, causing his head to ache. Soon enough he had been silenced, wanting to get away from the bug with wings as bright as the buck's eyes. The first shadow he found was the one where he curled away, digging a hole and disappearing into it.

Momochi's picture

The white buck stood there,

The white buck stood there, facing the mass of shadow, eyes wide and wavering. His original goal of getting a drink had been abandoned, words caught and forgotten in his throat. The dark creature itself was enough to stop anyone mid-step. But after a moment, noticing the small figure wrapped and tangled, hanging limp beneath it, the sight shook him to the core...
He attempted to shake the smell of death from his nose, side-stepping nervously, never tearing his blurry eyes away. The poor thing. How awful, awful.... That such a thing could exist in this place, exist at all, could conjure up such sickening and cold wisps of memories, was unbearable. But his legs shook, and Ambrose couldn't bring himself to leave the small creature there, alone in that shifting prison.
"What is this...?" The question was breathed, hardly over a whisper. "Why have you...?"

Momonster: The forest

Momonster:

The forest corners and pits were comfortable, no light crawling into such holes. Still, it seemed one after another there was a creature bringing the ugly light to him, annoying him to the point he growled whenever one of the sunrays intensified. Looking into the distance he could not even avoid it, as the light hit the moving thing there. Whenever light was on that critter's body, it made him shine so bright it hurt. He was already showing up a grumpy, unpleased face as the form came so close.

Not yours care about. Why would you even care for a thing this broken and used?
