Appearance
Snowshoe is a fairly typical Porcupine caribou, originally hailing from the state of Alaska. As such, this young bull is very much built for colder climates and a migratory lifestyle. His pelt has two layers of fur, a dense woolly undercoat and a longer-haired overcoat, making him very soft to the touch. He carries himself well most of the time, his head held high even under the weight of his impressive antlers. While he is often a humble sort, he still takes pride in their size and will not hesitate to lower them should he find it necessary. They grow again each year under a fine layer of velvet. His eyes are brown in color, always observant and wise in their warmness.

Haunts
While Snowshoe was not born in this forest, he appears to have found a home within it. He does not maintain any territory of his own throughout most of the year, instead preferring to lead what some may consider a wandering life. He does, however, hold a fondness of the birch forest and will often rest under its watch.

A young stag, know by Lykai, quietly walked trhough the forest. Every once in a while, he would stop, ring his bells, then walk on again. The tiny sound was comforting after have woken up feeling sepressed. His head swam with self-doubt. His over-reactive heart seemed to have calmed for the moment. All the stags he had passed, he just said greeted them politely as they greeted him. He hadn't called anyone 'sir' or 'ma'am' today. He just wasn't himself. But as he walked, a curious stag caught his eye. He turned to get a better look at him. His heart didn't leap, and he didn't blush and overly bow. He walked up and greeted him.
"Hello, Sir." He dipped into a bow. His voice was low and light, smooth as ever and rather feminine. "How do you do?" He was even more quiet than usual. Almost inaudible. This male interested him, though. He wasn't a stag... He was a Reindeer! He thought maybe he could brighten up his day, if he even payed atention to him. He could tell he was kind from a bit away, with the content smile and all.
Sighthoundlady: As do I,
Kasmir: (Sounds good. (: )
It was one of those days. One of those days when the forest was quiet and all was but a lull for a certain porcupine caribou. He was not lazy by any means, but sometimes he saw no harm in resting underneath a willow tree and closing his eyes for a brief cat nap of the cervine variety. It was peaceful there, by the pond, and Snowshoe paid little attention to the occasional chorus of frogs and bird calls. However, one small ear swivelled at the sound of something out of the ordinary, at the sound of jingling bells.
He raised his head to better make out the source of the sound, only to eventually see the deer that wore it. A small, but sincere smile crossed his muzzle as he returned to his feet to greet this newcomer. Perhaps he could provide the company that he was unable to find earlier.
"Hello there," he returned quietly, lowering himself into a bow. It was a slow gesture, as to be expected from a creature of his size. "Well enough, thank you. How about yourself?"
He is adorable.
(thanks, starling! The avatar is amazing! And Thanks Pretzil for the siggie!
Ly looked at this reindeer.
He bowed a bit once more, stumbling on his way back up, and staying down a bit to long. "Beautiful day, is it not?" He said and gazed around lazily at the pond and such. His little feminine voice carried up on the wind to the reindeer's ear. He was a bit weary.
"My name is Lykai." He said and bowed once more. Silent little legs gave way to his exsastion, and he fell to the ground to sit. His bells rang on the way down. He felt so much better now that he was sitting on the cool dirt.
moonsoverwater: Haha, thank
Kasmir:
"Well is good," Snowshoe replied with a subtle bow of his head. The other's current state, however, left a skeptical dent at the corner of his mouth, wearing his expression down from that of a grin to an uncertain smile. It was sincere, but uncertain, only settling as Lykai continued.
"It is. I love lazy summer days like this. The cool ones anyway. My name is Snowshoe, but you may call me Snow or Rab..." As the caribou's voice rose, the smaller deer fell. He lowered his head to meet him halfway. "...bit. Are you all right? Lykai?"
Ly heard him speak, his eyes
"Yes. Such a lovely afternoon. And wonderful birdcalls, no?" He swallowed. Snow. A gorgeous thing to be called. "Uhm. Yes. I don't know. I feel a bit... Weary and light-headed. I don't know. Thank you, Snow." He climbed to his feet once more, shaking away the dizziness. He swallowed.

The gray fallow deer cross
As she rounded a small hill, she skidded to a halt, spotting a male she had met the day before. Giving her coat a thorough shake, along with her crown of feathers, she continued toward the reindeer.
"Hello, Snowshoe." Her voice, usually light and peppy, was lower, as of the rut. She stooped down into a curtsy-like bow, her cyan-tipped feathers falling over her narrow muzzle, yet keeping eye contact with the bull. She straightened, then slowly circled Snowshoe, her chocolate eyes on his.
(Eee, surprise roleplay. Hope you don't mind~)
Freyja: Haha, many thanks.
Lynetta: (I don't mind at all. ^^)
The reindeer was resting at the foot of the first forest when he heard the sound of hoofsteps off in the distance. One could say that they sounded flustered, but, then again, it was that time of year. He casually flicked one ear as he returned to his feet, luckily in time to greet a doe who he had just met the other evening.
"Hello, Lynetta," he replied quietly, a small smile forming on the white of his muzzle. Familiar faces were always welcome and he had already found himself fond of her company. He watched her carefully as she circled, waiting for her to settle, before he slowly lowered himself into a bow. With one limb bent and tucked to his chest, he dipped his head, a great sense of sincerity held in the weight of his antlers alone. He straightened himself just as cautiously before hoping to continue the conversation. "How are you?"
"Hmn... Alright, I guess..."
Shifting again, she looked at the bull. Examining him silently, she gave her tail a few flicks. "How are you? I mean, despite having to, ehm, you know, clash antlers and stuff?" The red-gray doe blinked awkwardly a few times. The rut certainly made her a bit more outgoing, for she probably wouldn't of approached the reindeer in the first place, nor would she have asked that question.
(A bit late, sorry for the wait.)
(Please, no worries. I myself
He glanced at Lynetta with an almost playful look of skepticism in his eyes. "All right? I am not so sure that I believe you." The young bull then cast his gaze just over dandelion hill. It was surprisingly quiet, considering, but he welcomed the opportunity to conserve his strength in preparation for the week to come. Surely he would need it.
"Well enough. Thank you," he replied casually, returning his attention to the doe beside him. "A bit nervous, though. This time of year is always stressful. For everyone involved, I am sure."
She gave a slight nod.
"Sit." She motioned to the ground next to her with her muzzle. It felt lovely, the cool forest floor against her achy legs, the small blades of grass tickling her belly. The hind giggled as a few small birds flew very close to her head, their little wings brushing her ears.
Quietly, the gray doe started to hum a tune. Her eyes drifted shut sleepily, her body swayed with the rhythm of the song. Lynetta loved singing; it helped her relax, helped her take a break from reality.
The reindeer did as was
The hind's laughter brought another smile to his face and he watched the birds scatter with the soft sound of it. To his delight, one of the small songbirds landed upon a crook in his left antler and took that moment to preen its feathers, neck and chest, wing to wing. Snowshoe had become something of a birder in his travels and he very much appreciated these sightings, these simple joys of life. If this little creature could find peace in this moment, so could he.
One ear swiveled at the low, steady sound of Lynetta's voice before he inclined his head towards her. He found his worries fading with her own, his muscles relaxing, and his body considerably less tense. "I do not mean to interrupt, but that song, it's beautiful. Where have you heard it before?"
I was noticing how nicely
Aww, that's actually really
Breaking from her quiet
"My mother taught me..." The doe swallowed silently. "My mother, she was a beautiful singer. She would always sing me to sleep." Blinking dreamily, she gathered her legs closer to her body, turning her attention back to the male reindeer.
"Thank you for this rest, Snowshoe, I do appreciate it." Giving one of her warm signature half-smiles, the hind dipped her head, flattening her crown of glossy feathers respectively.
Snowshoe listened intently as
"I have fond memories of my mother, too. I often wonder how she is now," he remarked quietly, casting his gaze elsewhere for a moment. "Granted, she never encouraged my singing voice, but I cannot say that I blame her. Some deer are simply not meant to sing. Believe me."
A lighthearted laugh rolled out of the bull as he returned his attention to Lynetta. "You, however, I should hope that you continue. You are gifted, and your company very much appreciated as well. I feel much better now. Thank you."
