Ren Shi will never take off her mask or hood. What she looks like underneath will remain unknown if she can help it.
Her tassels are an extension of herself. The gods haven enabled her to control them.
She can sense life forces and if they are generally benign or malevolent. Many, more often than not, fall in between.

History before arrival:
She was once a a human, a warrior and personal guard. She never left her master's side, even if she was hidden. Though, she wasn't just a guard. She was also an assassin, killing other warriors and lords to protect her own. This was the way for as long as she could remember. Her master had a single child, his ward and heir. The child was placed in Ren Shi's care when not on assignment from her master, and the two became very close. A relationship eventually blossomed in secret when the child came of age, but soon enough, the master became suspicious when his child refused to marry. He caught the two of them together, and with several other assassins at his side, unleashed chaos. In the frenzy, the young heir had been caught in the middle and was struck down by a stray kunai. Ren Shi jumped from the window to make her escape, with what seemed like the entire household on her heels. She had been cornered on the edge of a cliff, and, in a leap of faith or resignation, plummeted herself over.
