[A Game] Lucid Dreaming [Daylight]

Alecsander's picture
"A lucid dream is a dream in which the sleeper is aware that she or he is dreaming."

" When the dreamer is lucid, she or he can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment."

"Lucid dreams can seem extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream."

Welcome To Lucid Dreaming

Lucid Dreaming is a "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" game.
Much like The Endless Forest: It has no goal.

If you choose to participate, then you are Lucid Dreaming.
Every night you choose to Lucid Dream you will wake up in a dream.
The setting may be familiar, or completely foreign.

You know that you are dreaming.
Throughout your journey you will be presented with certain scenarios.
I am your guide to these scenarios and will inform you of the consequences of your choices and actions.

Guidelines of Lucid Dreaming:

-At Any time you may wake up. You know how to do this. It might be pinching yourself, or realizing it is a dream, or jumping from something tall. It is personal.

-If you willingly wake up you will have the choice to continue from a specific point from a previous night of your choosing.

-You enter the dream world with a certain level of stress from One to Twenty.
What number you enter with is based on your actual level of stress when you join.
Be honest.
Lying to give yourself more courage will not improve the game for you.

With each reaction to a scenario or action taken you will evaluate how you are feeling.
If you are nervous, scared, or stressed out enough to reach 20, you must leave the dream.

If you are forced out by stress, you will not remember anything from the dream that night.

You may be forced out by "dying" in the dream.

-You may only enter the dream once per night.

-You may be presented with very personal, unnerving, scary, or disturbing settings or situations.

-Some times you will be prompted to provide information.

For example: "This room contains the animal you fear the most. What is it?"
"A pet you loved dearly that passed away is in front of you-describe them"
"A deer has come to join your side, who is it?"

You can choose to answer, or leave the dream.

-Each night will vary in it's length.

An approximate time of each Night will be given when the game is posted.
You have until that time to enter the dream and voluntarily wake up before the night ends.
If you do not voluntarily wake up in the time period you will not retain any information from that night.
You may still participate the next night.

-Everyone speaks the same language in dreams

Everyone in a dream, regardless of what language they are speaking, are speaking a language that you under stand. They may clearly be a foreign individual speaking a foreign tongue, but you will know what they are saying.

-You can manipulate the dream.
You may be as grand or as minute as you wish to be. If you need something you can get it. This is a dream.

however...
-You are yourself.

You only have the skills, abilities, and information that you do at the exact moment you enter the dream that night.
Entering the dream world will not magically give you the ability to play the violin.
You might be able to do something absurd as flying, but you cannot suddenly become a good basketball player.
You are limited in this regard.

-You have two hands.
You can pick up items you might find in the dream. You can retain these items for that night, but have no where to store them. You may carry two small items, or one large item. These items may or may not come in handy.

-You are alone.
You may be in the same setting as another player, but you are alone. You cannot see or communicate with them at this point in time.

Depending on the actions of the players a setting where mutual dreaming may become available. For now: Focus on surviving on your own.

-Your Guide can be slow at times
Depending on what I am doing in real life OR the amount of participants it might take some time to get to your situation or reactions.

Be patient.

-Each night you start in the same default setting unless you have requested one.
You may then explore from the default setting. It is just the 'base point' for all new dreamers.

- At times you may be required to fulfill an obligation or perform a task before you may move on.

Guidelines of The Mansion:

-When you enter the mansion you will be assigned to a team.

Your team will be your savior if you happen to die in the mansion.

-Your mission is to explore the mansion
How you do this is up to you. You may go off on your own or stick close to your team-mates.

-If you die you will become a poltergeist
You cannot manifest your old form or speak.
You must rely on your ability to levitate and manipulate objects to lead your team mates to retrieve your body.

When your body is placed in the main hall you will be revived.

-The mansion is only available until between 10:30 pm EST and 11:00 pm EST unless otherwise noted.

The coin has spoken!

You all wake up in the front hall of a large mansion.
You do not remember what you are doing here, or why you came.

In front of you is a table full of objects.
You may only take one object with you.

You scan the table and see the following:
An old camera that prints the Polaroid immediately
An unloaded gun
A box of bullets
A candle
A box of matches
A digital clock with a key sticking out of the back
A bat
A knife
A notepad with a pencil
A bag of halloween candy
A box
A rope
A silly monster mask
A tape recorder
A ten dollar bill
A duck
A goosebumps book

Choose wisely.
No two people can have the same item. Eye

I think I heard voices somewhere, and end up wandering into your direction then wondering where I am.
When I see the table, I try to grap the matches because I figure a light would be necessary.

The clock looks amazingly familiar for a reason I can't put my finger on. But I can put my finger on the clock. I take it.

Sorry about that, my mum

Sorry about that, my mum conned me into doing dishes against my will.

The rest of the items disappear now that you have made your selection.
The duck gives an angry quack before it too blips out of existence.

The door on the opposite end of the hall opens and a small girl pokes her head out. She gestures for you all to follow before disappearing inside.

Other than that door there are two other doorways leading out of the room.
There is also a set of stairs leading up to a balcony and another set of doors on the second floor.

You choose now where your team will go.

You can split up if you so desire, but you best find out your objective before parting ways. Least one of you be left without vital information.

Bylah's picture

To be honest, I'm a bit leery

To be honest, I'm a bit leery of following small little girls. They tend to be troublesome. However, she's the only other person around besides the other...uh...five people here. --Too bad the duck didn't give me advice.

Against my better judgment, I walk towards the door the little girl vanished into.

On the way, however?

"I think I will call you Burgi." I tell my clock. Because I have this habit of naming inanimate objects.

It's a character flaw.

I feel immediate distrust to the creepy kid. I don´t much trust children, even less in dreams or horror movies where they end up being evil most of the time. Not feeling too confident of following her. But if others go then I will too, but whining.
Tally's picture

I look eagerly at the doorway

I look eagerly at the doorway leading to a balcony but I'm pulled strongly to do what I am told by the little girl.

Um,..Where do you want to go..? I say sheepishly to my friend.

Always with the little

Always with the little children...I cast a look at my companions and shrug; "I suppose we should follow her, see what all this is about." I trot off after the girl.
Spyrre's picture

Because I'm lazy:
Team 1 (tally/spyrre/rain) will be using peru.
Team 2 (L/Tera) will be using salmon.
Anything directed at both teams will be in grey.
If you split ways you revert back to your default colour.
____________________________________________________________________
The two of you head into the room after the little girl.
She is drifting aimlessly around the room and as you near you are aware that she is slightly transparent.
She seems rather upset for some reason and is pacing in front of a table where a charred document lays.

She does not seem to notice you.

_____________________________________________________________________

Instead of following creepy little children you all run up the stairs towards the balcony.
The steps seem rather rickety as you scale them and dust flairs up with each pounding steps.
At the immediate top is a series of doors lining the walls that wrap around the top of the hall.
At the end of the hall are two large curtains covering a doorway leading to the outside balcony.
The wind is blowing the curtains aside and you can catch glances of the cloudy sky.

While I am amazingly tempted

While I am amazingly tempted to wave a hand through our see-through host, I resist, and settle for moving towards the table with the documents. "Hello, it's nice to meet you. Is there something you would like to show us?"

I'm not keen on just frogmarching my happy self right over to the little girl. I can see her juuuust fine from where I am. I hope.

I look at my partner and then I look at Jost Burgi. I want to know what time it is, see.

I'm not sure when, exactly, I decided on a proper name for him, but what's done is done.

I'm also not entirely sure why I decided he was a he, but I have.

Tally's picture

I have that awful lingering sense of uncertainty that follows be everywhere but I walk carefully a few steps towards the curtains. Look, maybe we can see where we are from there?
Spyrre's picture

I trust on the old stairs

I trust on the old stairs only a little bit more than on creepy children, but I´m not really that worried of falling. After climbing I use a moment to look around before I begin to walk towards the balcony to see how the view looks like outside. On the way I try few random doors to see if they´re open so I could peek inside.
Alecsander's picture

L's check of Jost Burgi

L's check of Jost Burgi alerts her to the fact that it is nearing 8:40.
Yes, nearing.
The clock appears to be a smartass. A strangely familiar smart ass.

Tera's words cause the spectral child to give a startled jump before rushing to her side.

"P-People?! There are people h-here?"

She has an expression of mixed surprise and horror.
That is probably not a good sign.

She gets over her initial fear and her eyes glance nervously towards the documents.
"Y-Yes..No..maybe. I mean..I don't know if it is useful."

She tugs on the edge of her dress nervously trying to decide whether she should share or not.

_______________________________________________________

Spyrre passes the doors and tugs on them.
The first three doors seem capable of opening fine.
The fourth door is clearly locked.
The fifth door's knob comes off in her hand.
Each door has either a keyhole or a door crack that can be peered through.
The balcony lays further ahead.

I kneel down, attempting to

I kneel down, attempting to make myself less threatening. I am however slightly impressed at being able to startle a ghost, even if it is a kid one. I use my most diplomatic voice and smile at the ghost. "Yes, I saw you wave at us from the doorway and thought you might like to show us something. You only have to share if you want to." I avoid asking why the kid is upset, better not to speak of things like that I figure.
Bylah's picture

"It's either 8:40 or it's

"It's either 8:40 or it's not!" I argue to Jost, but then I look at the little girl. "There are people here. I think five of us. I could be wrong. I'm not good at math. You don't look happy to see us. Are we gunna die? I think it's a bit bothersome we're all girls. If one of us is a virgin, we may be in for a bad experience."

I get to the quick of the matter. Another character flaw.

Jost whirls for a few seconds

Jost whirls for a few seconds before settling on "<^>" and shutting off moodily.

The girl nods nervously and walks over holding up a battered journal.
"This was left by the previous group that was lost here. I-I think they knew more about you coming in. There are a lot of missing and unreadable pages though. I Don't know..the other team kept this journal. My team just..just.."
Her eyes well up and she starts to bawl uncontrollably. The tears pass harmlessly through the documents and the floor for that matter.

You were not the first to ever come here...this is not a good sign.
At least you seem to have gained an edge.

"Aw man...don't..um, cry." I

"Aw man...don't..um, cry." I hold out a hand towards the girl. "Would it be alright if I took a look at that journal? Thank you for showing us, I'm sure it will indeed be very helpful."
Tally's picture

I nod in agreement with Rain but proceed to step back to the nearest door and snap a picture through one of the cracks. I shake the picture after it appears from the camera impatiently waiting for it to develop.
Spyrre's picture

I´m a bit surprized to find

I´m a bit surprized to find the doors unlocked. I try te first door and peek inside on my way to the balcony, but won´t stop if there isn´t anything extremely interesting or threatening. The fourth door gets my interest also it being locked unlike others, and I stop trying to see inside from a hole in wood/keyhole, if possible.
"Well, it might be better to know what´t in there if you´re going to turn your back on them, right?" I reply to Rainflower, not admitting that she might have a point.
Bylah's picture

"Awww, come on, don't be

"Awww, come on, don't be moody." I tell Jost, before patting him on the face. Which I can do. Because he has a face.

I start towards the little girl and my partner. "Do you know, by any chance, how many teams came before your team?" I ask the little girl.

Alecsander's picture

The girl nods and offers the

The girl nods and offers the journal to Tera.
It is flaky and the pages are torn in places.
A Polaroid is sticking out from the first pages.
A heavier page is situated at the top and seems to be made of metal.

She turns to look at L and furrows her brow.
"No. I know we came with the other group.
It was my brother and sister and I.
We went with my brother's stupid friends. They didn't tell us what we were doing and said it was for his birthday party. It was too creepy and we didn't want to play.
So we tried to get out but the door was locked and then strange things started happening."

She bit her lip and glanced fearfully out the door again.

Spyrre peers through the keyhole and the interior is completely red.
Someone must have put a piece of paper to stop prying eyes or something.
Nothing real interesting there.

The picture starts to slowly develope.
There is a small area visible through the crack.
You can see part of the interior of the room.
You can deduct that it is a library, or at least a room with many books.
Your picture captured a few books in mid fall and a strange fog on the side of a shelf.
How very strange...

Bylah's picture

I step closer so that I can

I step closer so that I can see the picture when Tera gets around to opening this bad boy. "Define 'strange things' for me, sugarplum?"

On a whim, I pull out Jost's key. If he wants to be a stinky, that's his problem, not mine.

Tally's picture

I stare inquisitively at the

I stare inquisitively at the picture for a moment before showing the others. Look guys...? I'm secretly hoping one of them will attempt to open the door so that I won't have to.

I carefully take the book,

I carefully take the book, settling it on the desk so I can flip through the pages more delicately. I investigate the heavier cover, running my finger tips over the metal plate, seeing if it feels out of the ordinary or if it has anything carved into it. Once that is done I pull the Polaroid out and lay it on the desk beside the book, so L can see as well.
Spyrre's picture

Weird, I can´t see nothing at

Weird, I can´t see nothing at all. Has someone plugged up the keyhole or something? Why, is there someone inside? I listen if I can hear anything glancing towards the balcony. I´m intrested to know what´s outside too, but first I want to know if there´s someone hiding. I look at Tally´s photos after moving away from the door, the falling books don´t look that intresting untill I spot the freaky mist. Eh.
Rainflower's picture

Erm, whatever it is, I don't

Erm, whatever it is, I don't think it's the best idea to see if it's friendly. If I know anything about horror movies, it's that most beings you find are NOT friendly.
"The cruelest prison is one we make for ourselves out of fear and regret."
Alecsander's picture

The girl nods and frowns.

The girl nods and frowns.
"W-Well first we went to the front door but then it was gone.
So we went up to the balcony but there was no way down.
We could hear doors slamming in the background but we thought it was just the other team.
They took off into the kitchen and we heard screaming.
A-And there were things outside.
And it stayed night for a long time..
I don't know..it was weird."

She paced the room nervously as she spoke.

The front cover has a series of words carved into it, but it has a heavy layer of dust covering it.
The picture seems fairly ordinary.
It shows a group of two teenage boys and a girl giving the camera a thumbs up look.
They are holding a tape recorder, some rope, a bag of candy, and have flashlights.
The especially cocky boy on the left is holding up a lit match.
They appear to be in the same hall as you all woke up in.

There seems to be a general consensus that no one wants to go in the first door.
The balcony is still wide open.
The fourth door is locked with a blocked keyhole so you cannot peer through.
The fifth door is missing it's knob because spyrre yanked it off on accident.
The second and third door remain a mystery.

Tally's picture

I decide to go ahead and

I decide to go ahead and check out the balcony that I've been dying to see since we got there without asking anyone else. I stop to touch the curtains first, surprised at the odd texture.

I feel the hairs on my neck

I feel the hairs on my neck raise and the weight of the rope round my shoulder no longer feels so reassuring. With the sleeve of my hoodie I clean the dust off the journal cover. I also cast a sideways glance at L; "Mental note, avoid kitchen. I have no desire to be a knife block."
Bylah's picture

At this point, I put the key

At this point, I put the key back in Jost.

"What kind of things outside?" I ask, while looking at the picture, then at the words carved in the cover.

Spyrre's picture

"Let´s leave it alone fro

"Let´s leave it alone fro now. Maybe it didn´t see us." I suggest, not wanting to confront the potential ghost if I don´t have to, and begin to move slowly towards the balcony again after Tally. I´m a bit cautious because of the curtains though, I don´t want to have anything jumping on me behind them.
Rainflower's picture

I follow after, straining all

I follow after, straining all my sensing to find anything lurking. All I know is that the curtains aren't quite right, and that I think I hear a shuffling from behind one of the doors.I'm ready to kick something if I have to.
