I think they are kinda. I can't really explain what's going on. But Vir knew Kiyo was afraid of Sao, and therefore would have been willing to threaten Sao in an attempt to keep Kiyo safe.
So it's all confuzzled. 8B I don't think Vir will willingly let Sao close to Kiyo anytime soon.

It was always a pleasure to meet with the older and larger stag.

There was one thing that particularly stuck to his mind as she left though, like how she said it. It was not a matter of his mate giving him his child. To Virgil it was more of a matter of the both of them giving the child life.
Raising a family isn't natural for him, but it was a time he greatly looked foward to.
