A new deer

It was dark, so dark. Then it realized it’s eyes were closed. Silly creature. It’s eyes opened, and yet the darkness remained. Frightened now, the creature shrank back, but only found more darkness. And then, it realized there was light, that seemed to hover over her head. It cast a pale glow on her, and even though she could see nothing of it, it comforted her. And she knew she could see. Then, she realized her small, precious light, was a beacon, that revealed her to the things of this unreal night, that she herself could not see. She searched for the gleaming eyes that would peer out of the black, but found none. Laying there, shivering, she reached out a tentative hoof, instantly swallowed by the suffocating darkness. She jerked it back, lest an unknown terror grasp it. The fawn hesitated, then offered it again, reaching. Her hoof vanished once more, and this time the fawn got to her hooves, her legs wobbling, and followed it. Her hoof outstretched, the fawn blindly headed straight forward, anything to find a way out. And then, she found it. The fawn, shocked at what she saw, pulled back, and once more her fear of the dark set in and she risked running out into the other world.

She stopped, her mouth open slightly at what she saw. There were so many colors, and light! Tall trees loomed over her, casting faint shadows, crowned with glorious leaves of green. In awe, the fawn remained frozen in place, everything seemed stunningly bright after that… place. Something cold and wet landed on the fawns tiny nose, more followed, sending a tremor down her fragile body. She looked fearfully up at the sky, and still another fell. She backed away, turning to look at where she had come from. A large boulder, many times larger than her stood ominously, only then did she realize she was surrounded by the rocks. She shivered as the rain continued to soak her thin pelt, she wouldn’t go back in there. The fawn retreated under the shelter of a stone slanted so that it was propped up on another, and stood there, as if she wasn’t sure how to sit on the soft, tall grass that tickled her legs. She peeked out at the warm spring rain, but still it unnerved her. Time passed slowly, and when she could stand no more, the fawn collapsed to her knees, relieved. The temptation of sleep invaded her body, and her eyelids began to close. The fawn finally curled up, careful not to let her spine touch the rough surface of the boulder. And sleep did come, and held her there with nightmares of creatures with glowing eyes, and thousands of pebbles rushing towards her, to overwhelm her.

Oh no, a fifth deer!!! (Sixth if you count Capala as a "deer" which she's not) I just got an idea, but I'm not going to have any more. But anyway, my new fawn is a doe, who's name is Iendoe. Pronounced E-N-Doe. She doesn't remember any past life or anything, her memories started inside the rock at the playground. She's very nervous and shy, and... superstitious. I don't know actually were she gets these ideas, but she has very queer ideas. For instance, she thinks if you knock down a pine-cone but don't eat it, the next deer you nuzzle will fall into the pond that day. And stuff like that. She is scared of the dark, and she doesn't like nighttime in the forest, or rain. She's fascinated with anything like flying, water-walking, even spell-casting. She understands how to communicate instinctively, but somehow when doing it, she's mixes it up. For instance, she might lower antlers to say hello instead of bowing.
