Lier's Story Time C:

phantomhelsing's picture
My attempt at trying to start up a RP again. Involving three particular fawns in just one mini "episode" of their lives.(Lier is in fact, staying as a fawn for a little while longer.) Lier gathers everyone for a evening story. He always was a story teller. He had the perfect voice, matching every situation and fitting every character. Whenever the traveling caravan came to town all of the children came to hear his stories, being a traveler, he was able to gather many.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy as Lier tells a tale of heroes, villains, and adventure...............

"Come on Paavo! If you do not hurry, you will be left behind!" the fawn called back teasingly to his companion.
"You better not Lier!" came the indignant reply.
"Relax, I would never really do that, honest," Lier said with a wry grin. A light peach and tan fawn trotted up beside Lier. The younger fawn had a look of worry on his face.
"Where are we even going Lier? It's almost dark, and who knows what comes here at night."
"We are just going to the Ename Ruins," Lier stated simply,"There is nothing there except graves, and their occupants have been long dead. There is nothing to fear." For some reason, this did not seem to comfort Paavo.
"Ooh, I believe I hear Shyla up ahead, let us go meet up with her, maybe she will want to come as well. Race you there!" and with that, the ash-colored fawn was off in a bound.
"Hey wait for me! Cheater!"

The two fawns soon caught up with the third, debating over who won (Lier swore he did, but Paavo said it did not count because he had a head start). Shyla excitedly greeted her two friends and the trio ran off towards the Ruins.

"You guys will never be able to reach me up here," Shyla stated smugly as she sat atop one of the broken columns.
"Well how can I? Your fat butt took up all of the room." Lier teased.
"Hey! My butt's not that fat!"
"You're right. I think Lier's is fatter."
"Watch it pal, thems fightin' words."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah!"
Lier leaped at Paavo and the two began a playful tussle on the ground.
"Boys," Shyla rolled her eyes as she hopped down from her perch. She suddenly had an evil glint in her eye as she got an idea. She stuck up behind the two rough-housers and pounced on Lier, making sure she got him in that special spot.
"H-he-ee-y stop it Shy-shy-la! T-that tic-tickles!" Lier gasped, hardly able to speak from laughing as Shyla tickled his side.
"Deer-pile!"
"Wait-no! UGH," Lier grunted as the weight of another fawn was added to him. As the tangle of fur and legs was trying to free themselves, dusk settled around them and fireflies began to come out. Somewhere in the distance, a twig snapped.
"What was that?!" Paavo's head snapped up at the noise as he looked around for the source.
"It was nothing Pav, probably just another deer."
"What if it was one of those zombie deer? Like the one that is usually in the cage over there?"
"That one will not be here for awhile, trust me, I live here," reassured Lier.
"It is getting late, Paavo, you and I should head home for bed."
"I'm not going out there! Something else is out there!"
"Oi vey. Look, Paavo, if you really do not want to go out there, you can stay the night here with me."
"Really Lier?"
"Of course."
"May I join this sleepover? It sounds like fun."
"The more the merrier. Follow me," Lier led the two to a spot in the Ruins surrounded by walls, it was nice and protected.
"Now what?"
"Uh....go to sleep?"
"I'm too scared to go to sleep."
"Do you need a bedtime story Paavo?"
"Bedtime story?"
"Yeah, weren't you ever told any stories before?"
"Well, yes, sometimes."
"Lier, do you know any?"
"Do I know any stories?! Of course I do you silly fawn! where I came from people came from far an wide to listen to my stories."
"No they didn't, Lier, quit exaggerating."
"It is true, I swear it. That was what i did with the traveling troupe of performers. As evening settled, just about as it is now, kids would gather around the fire and listen to my stories. So get comfy, and tell me what kind of story you would like to hear."
"What about a love story?"
"Eew Shyla. Tell us one of a daring quest instead."
"Quests take forever, you'd never be able to stay awake through it."
"How about this: Where I come from we tell a legend of one of our heroes of old. It is a story of a cunning stag, and how he defeated a horrible beast plaguing the town...................

---------------------------------
Aelwyn was born a normal deer, and grew up to be a normal, brown stag. He lived near a trade route that ran through one of the capital cities of the Kingdom. Many travelers came through and Aelwyn would help as many of them as he could, whether is was picking up something that fell from their carts, or even letting a weary traveler ride him into town. Everyone adored him for his kind heart.
One day however, while Aelwyn was was out and about in the market, a man came running into town as if the devil himself was on his heels. The man was covered in ragged clothes, and he was battered and bruised all over, as if something attacked him.
"Wha 'append ta ye? My God man, ye look like 'summin beat ye up righ good," the thickly accented grocer stated.
"I was attacked! On the way here some......some........beast of some sort.....jumped out of the woods and attacked me! This is not the sort of hospitality I expected to receive from this Kingdom! What will they do to me when I go to enter the Capital?! If I had expected a reception such as this, I would have never come!"
"Woah there! Take 'er easy fellow! Calm yerself down an' well take care 'o this no problem. Say, wha business do ye 'av in 'e Capital? Ony impor'nt fellows go there."
"Why I should say I was important! I am the diplomat sent here to negotiate a peace with your King! If I do not meet with him, our lands will be at war!"
"Oh! Well, ye can rest assured, we will be takin' car 'o the fool who attacked ye, they 'ad no righ to be doin' tha. 'Twas none 'o any 'o us loyal to our country. Must a bin one 'o those damned Demons abou' again."
"Demons?! This country is full of problems! Just tell me where I can buy another horse so that I may be on my way."
Aelwyn heard this exchange and was immediately worried. He could not let his country fall into war. The fiend responsible would be found, and he would be the one to check it out.
Aelwyn searched all over the road leading to town, but found no trace of anything. Hopefully, whatever was here, had left.
But over the coming weeks, more travelers were attacked, and the town was slowly losing business, and goods they needed to survive.
Aelwyn was walking about town, assisting in anyway he could, pulling carts of produce, and helping the grocer with his stock.
"Aelwyn, I 'av no idea wha' we're gonna do without any more trade comin' through 'ere. The medic ran outta 'is herbs yesterday, an' 'o course tha's when the 'ole town gets sick. Why, jus' this mornin', Ol Man Ridden's son came down wi' the coughin'. An' 'ow am I sposed te sell anytin when there's 'ardly anytin' in me cart!"
"I have no idea friend. I looked everywhere, but I was unable to find anything that could be scaring off the travelers. Whenever I look, nothing is there."
"Ya know, some 'o the braver folks who managed te come through, described summin tha' mighta been the culprit. One poor 'ol lass said she saw a black beast, and heard rattlin' chains in the woods. An' ye know wha' else? Evry attack was at dawn or dusk, never durin' the day."
"Hmm, that sounds familiar. I know i have heard that same description somewhere," Aelwyn pondered. "Rattling chains.............black.......hmmm......only attacks at dawn and dusk................I've got it!"
"Wha' is it?"
"Are you familiar with Demon folklore?"
"Not really."
"Well, according to it, if I remember correctly, one of the ancient Demons from the Beginning, was in charge of being the guardian of the waters of the earth. But they used their power to flood the land and drown its people. So it was bound in chains and forever banished to the twilight. Angry at its sentence, it attacked travelers out of revenge. It all fits! It's a Kludde!"

----------------------------

"Ummm, Lier?"
"What Pavvo?"
"What in the world is a Kludde?"
"A Kludde was originally a water spirit, but was turned into a Demon for betraying the gods. It is a horrible beast, it takes the form of a great, black dog, and the only warning of it's coming is the rattling of it's chains. Hardly any escape from it."
"This isn't sounding like a very happy bedtime story."
"Relax Paavo, we are not at the end yet. Are we Lier?"
"Of course not. So let's get back to Aelwyn and his discovery."
Shyla and Paavo scooted closer to Lier so they could catch every word as he began his tale once more.................

-------------------------

Now knowing what he was dealing with, Aelwyn needed to figure out how to get rid of it. everyone knew that Kluddes were very greedy creatures. If you offered them something of enough value, you may be able to persuade one to do something for you. But how could he use this to defeat the Demon forever?

Trick him into the water.

After abusing the sacred power over water, Kluddes were forbidden to set foot into any body of water, if they did, they would drown. And that was when Aelwyn began to form a plan in his mind, but he would need some help building something first.............

Three days later, everything was set as Aelwyn headed out onto the road at dusk. He waited for awhile until he heard the ominous sound of chains being dragged across the forest floor.
"Dear me, what do we have here?" came a sinister snarl from the brush, "A lost stag waiting to be dinner? Or are you here to shoo me away?
"Neither, I merely came to offer you something. I heard about how the all powerful and wondrous Kludde were so fond of valuable things, and I believe I have something for you."
"Ahahahahah,"The beast laughed coldly, "What could a lowly deer such as yourself have to offer me, that could be greater than anything any king could give me?"
"I have something that no man can posess, something that a passing Fae gave to me for helping them. It is a spell that could make you powerful, powerful enough to reclaim your place among the gods, and envoke your long awaited revenge on them."
"Hmmm,"The beast pondered. A figure stepped from the shadows. A great, black dog, bigger than Aelwyn himself, with dripping fangs and red eyes, and rusted chains adorning its matted fur and thin body, loomed over the stag. Aelwyn could smell its putrid breath, and see the satisfied smirk on its face. "Your offer intrigues me stag. Very well, I accept your gift, now would you do one thing for me, and tell me your name, so that I may know who to favor when I am back among the Faes?"
"It is Aelwyn."
"HA!" Aelwyn crinkled his nose as the scent of decay and rotted meat washed over his senses. "'Noble friend'! There is nothing noble about you young roe, you are betraying your entire Kingdom by granting me this boon. Oh how I love the irony! Now, give me this spell you promised."
"I had to hide it in the lake so that none could get it. I had no use for it, so I put it there until the right person came along. All you have to do is drink from the water, and the spell will be yours."
"drink from the water? Kluddes cannot set foot in the water! You wish for me to drown!" the beast snarled.
"Oh no, no, no great Kludde! That is exactly it! You may not set foot in the water, but your mouth will be fine! the spell is enchanted so that it can be absorbed by whoever drinks of the water around it. The fae who gave it to me helped me put it there. If I give permission, you will gain the spell, and I already granted you that.
the beast pondered for a moment. "Alright, lead me there."
Aelwyn led the Kludde to the lake, where a dock went about midway in.
"That dock will allow you to drink without getting your feet wet,"said Aelwyn." Just walk out to the very end and lean over and drink."
The greedy Kludde was eager to get his hands on the spell, so he loped out to the very end of the dock and lowered his head, but hesitated.
"Wait, Aelwyn. I still do not fully trust you. Come out here with me, so in case this is a trick I shall be able to kill you."
Aelwyn panicked for a second. This was not how it was supposed to go. But he was smart and decided to improvise. Aelwyn trotted out and stood beside the Kludde as he began to drink. While the Kludde was not looking, Aelwyn bolted down to the middle of the dock and kicked a post marked with a rope. The trap had worked! Aelwyn sent silent praises to the ones who constructed his elaborate trap. The whole dock shook as it began to break apart.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE YOU INSOLENT STAG!"
"Just sending you to hell my good friend."
With a mighty roar of rage, the Kludde leapt at Aelwyn, catching his withers with his huge claws.
Aelwyn let out a yell as he felt the claws buried in his shoulder begin to drag him backwards.
"Well then I guess I'll just have to take you with me!"
"Not today!" Aelwyn kicked out, hitting the Kludde in the eye with his hoof.
The writhing Kludde let go of Aelwyn and began to sink into the depths. Aelwyn scrambled back to the shore as the last few bubbles rose on the lake's surface, the last trace of the Kludde.
Injured and exhausted, Aelwyn felt quite proud of what he accomplished. Now the roads were safe again, and the Kingdom could parley with the neighboring countries in peace.
For his extreme bravery and cunning, the Fae-people honored Aelwyn with a powerful protection of his bloodline. Any of his descendants bearing his mark, three white vertical stripes on the shoulder and a white heel, would be safe from all Demons, and should be trained to defeat them. The only mystery is, no one is sure whether or not he had any heirs. None yet have been born with his mark, so maybe, the Fae are waiting for the right time, to make his bloodline known once more.........................

-------------------------------------

"And there ends my story my friends. I do hope that you enjoyed it," Lier surveyed the wide-eyed fawns in front of him. He smirked upon seeing the reaction he wanted, and expected from his audience.
"Do you think that it was a Kludde I heard in the Forest?"
"No, the last one died when Aelwyn defeated him. None have been seen since."
"I wish we could meet Aelwyn, he sounded so cool," Shyla said. "Lier, was Aelwyn handsome?"
"Umm, I couldn't say for sure, Shyla, that was a long time ago. You are not crushing on a legendary hero of my homeland are you?"Lier smirked. Shyla only giggled.
"Eew Shyla. I wish we knew who his descendant was, just imagine meeting a Demon-slayer! That would be a pretty scary job."
"I wish there was a second part to his story, then we could here about the beautiful doe he fell in love with......."
"Shyla, it's not a love story! No one knows if he even had a mate!"
"You never know Paavo...."
"I never heard if there was anymore to the tale, though a lot of our ancient lore is in a dead language few speak, so none of the texts have been translated. Maybe there is more, but for now, you will just have to dream about it."
"Sounds good to me," Shyla yawned, "Thanks for the story Lier."
"Yes, thank you, I can't wait to hear more."
"Another night Paavo, and I shall tell more of my stories to you."
With that, the three drifted off to sleep to dream of ancient tales and brave heroes.......

Aw....what a cute story! Im so not creative enough to write a story within a story XD The dialogue was a little hard to follow though.
Thanks for Including Shy...though you did sorta forget about her stutter :3'' I guess that's hard to do, it makes me hesitnt to write for her, and lack of any writing doesn't say much about her character @__@ BLEH
Kudos for being able to write, period, let alone well XD
