Advantages
*Massive size, a single blow from his antlers could probably be fatal
*May be able to use an enemy's psychology against him/her
*Strong will and determination
*More able in defusing a situation depending on the other party in question
Disadvantages
*Incredibly slow
*Often starts a fight only to use up his energy in the first few minutes
*Blind in his right eye and deaf in his right ear
*Rendered into a comatose state if his mask is removed
At first sight, Jergens is incredibly intimidating to look upon. He's massive considering the species that he's loosely based from, heavily muscled and packing a rather large rack of antlers. From the scars upon his body, one would think that he's the sort that would be remarkable in battle.
In truth, he's actually a pretty terrible fighter. Jergens is the type of individual that's far more effective working from the shadows than on the battlefront. He knows how to play with words despite his lack of a diverse vocabulary, and he knows how to use stealth to his advantage. However, his fighting is much more erratic, and obviously unpracticed.
It doesn't help that he's rapidly aged in the past few months, and with age comes physical decay. He's really not meant to be fighting at all anymore, but that won't stop him from trying (and getting his sorry ass kicked round the corner).
+Personality/Quirks+
To say that Jergens is eccentric would be an understatement. One minute he could be getting way into your personal space and the next he could be talking smack about how your mother wears army boots. Really, anything goes with him. He's the pure embodiment of
impulsive, and that often got him into a lot of trouble in the past (and still does). Just looking at the maps of scars and tears along his body is enough indication of that.
He seems really optimistic and cheery on the outside, but once you dig a little deeper, you can find a pretty sad sack of bad self-esteem and greasy failure just right under the skin The forest wasn't exactly all that kind to him in his first years. He's got the mien of some broken-down sunshiny naive optimist who just got a really cruel awakening. That's not to say that Jergens wasn't cynical and conniving to begin with, definitely not. If anything, the forest has managed to make him a lot more mellow and passive than he used to be.
There are times when his paper-thin cheeriness can get torn, and when it does, it can get pretty ugly if no else is around.
*Often drags friends into dangerous or ludicrous situations
*Rarely cries
*Highly protective of close friends and family
*As much of a poor role model as he may seem, he's very good with children
*Cowardly despite his headstrong nature; he refuses to face a situation head on.
*A sore loser and a show-off
*Able to pick people apart
*As careless and silly as he may seem he knows when it's time to get serious.
*His thought process is usually a lot more serious than one would originally believe
*Often melancholic or in a depressive like state
*Knows his boundaries, and knows damn well how to keep a secret.
*Very 'touchy-feely' with friends and family
*Tends to curse a lot, be it with actual curse words or words he just makes up himself
*Likely would hoard objects if given the space to do so
*He is dangerous and not an individual to be taken lightly
*Leaps before he looks
*Lies often, and has an inherent talent for it
*Prone to rapid mood swings
*Often smiles when he's angry... a strange habit of his
*Uncomfortable with displaying/watching blatant public affection (there are exceptions)
*Rarely is driven to actual anger (there are triggers)
*Less likely to forgive if he's physically, rather than emotionally wounded
*Can be lazy, if permitted to do so
*Prone to panic attacks if massively stressed
*If he teases you, then he likes you
*Incredibly difficult to gain his respect - almost impossible for some
*When upset, he'll never say what 'exactly' the problem is. Not even with close friends
*Capable of acting fatherly and comforting when he needs to be
*Will only act out favors for strangers if a deal is involved for himself
*Uncaring of most strangers around him, despite his good-natured attitudes towards them.
*Very unpredictable if attacked. He might retaliate like any normal person would but he's been known to just fall limp - leaving himself up to the other party's mercy.
*Capable of being absurdly cold-hearted if it means survival.
*Very chivalrous when interacting with women, almost to the point of being overbearing
*Often sleep-deprived from nightmares
*Terrified of dogs and canine-like creatures
*A poor swimmer
*He's got a knack for mathematics. Give him some kind of tricky puzzle problem and he'll mull over it for hours.
*He isn't interested in pursuing romance, and any kind of advance will only be met with a terrified refusal
*Because of the circumstances of having to care for an infirm master in his human life, Jergens has an instinctive desire to take care of deer who express signs of illness. He doesn't remember 'why' he feels the need to do so.
*He's a shitty climber, mainly due to his own bulkiness.
*Takes pain relatively well and has built up a tolerance to it.
-Other Trivial (Some Human) Features-
*A talented pick-pocket, only ever 'beaten' at it once (by Cry)
*Completely illiterate
*Has some unusual eating habits. Hates hot drinks and most sweets
*Likes to look at comic books, even if he is unable to read them
*Once a heavy smoker
*A natural thespian, as taught by his step-father
*While he no longer remembers his human life, he may still refer to aspects of the human world as terms of slang themselves without really knowing the meaning of them
-Common Forest Behaviors-
*The greet that he uses (Bow + Head Tilt) is not nearly as courteous as it might look in-game, depending on who he's greeting.
*(Nodding + Head Tilt) = 'chatting' or rambling.
*(Surprise + Head Tilt) = an exclamation/trying to get attention
*He'll often circle individual deer as a way of either breaking tension or just weirding them out
*Likewise will often do figure-eights around groups that he's trying to introduce to one another
*Likes jumping over minis and fawns to show off, and that's probably going to get him into trouble at some point.
*His 'home' is a tree right behind the Crying Idol, although he is far from territorial.
*When approaching a deer, he might try to 'sneak up' on it by darting behind trees and inching just a bit closer each time.
*Avoids the old oak as the echoing creeps him out a little.
*Can be pretty forward in approaching random deer, depending on how they look to him. With bucks and stags, he'll often just charge right up. With does, he's a lot less brash. With fawns and namelesses, depending on his mood he'll just walk up and play with them.
+Background/Appearance+
Life has not been particularly kind to Jergens. Why should it be? All in all, despite how friendly he may seem to strangers and close friends, he really is a despicable person in his own right. He has abused others, given false promises, stolen, and outright toyed with perfectly innocent people.
His existence started with abuse, which in turn manifested itself into ridicule and prejudice, and finally neglect.
He acts stupid only because that's how others wanted him to be, and what they had expected of him. The truth couldn't be more than opposite. Jergens is exceptionally intelligent in more ways than one, though his mind has been so slaughtered by others that its potential has been completely squandered.
Though his crimes were for the most part petty, his actions were governed by his own sick rules of logic and his cynical view on what humanity had turned him into.
He doesn't resent people, but he does resent their actions.
He's mellowed out considerably with age, and he's not as spiteful as he used to be, just bitter. Even sworn enemies are welcomed into his life, ghosts of the past that he's too tired to bother fighting back.
-Appearance-
Deer
Fairly simplistic in looks. Jergens is a massive stag. His pelt is a faded crimson, though it has taken on a considerable grey tone to it. The fur on his neck is longer, though still retains its whorl. His face is that of a human, mostly covered by a ratty butterfly mask that has probably seen better days. If one were to look closely, they'd notice that his right eye has a slightly milky tint to it, betraying his blindness. His chin is coated with a modest beard, a remnant of his human life. His face is wrinkled and worn, both from age and from the stress of his rather turbulent past. The antlers upon his head are large and cumbersome, curved back to his back and sharply pointed at the front.
Jergens carries a number of scars in this form, all of which are easily visible due to his short pelt. His underbelly is a web of stringy pink grooves, his back legs respectively have two pale lines running up their backs. The most significant is an old puncture wound on the right side of his ribcage, now nothing more than a star-shaped crater.
Human
Equally simple, though carries a charm all of his own. Jergens is not a particularly 'attractive' man, though he has his charms and he knows how to use them to his advantage. He is of average height, neither tall nor short, and thin as a rail. His clothing varies, but he's most well known for his army green hoodie, a gift from his childhood friend Pert. On the hollow of his throat is a light, pink scar, trailing down to his chest (the origin of which is unknown). His hair is a natural ginger, short and curly, complimenting his equally red stubble. His eyes are a deep chocolate brown, and his face is long and angular with a pronounced jaw-bone. In terms of his physical stature, he's very frail due to his lack of body fat. However, he does have a little bit of muscle to him, though not as much as an average man of his age.

The buck led his big brother
And he noticed that nothing has changed since he's been gone.
His mind had cleared up a bit since the previous day. Many he knew had come to visit him today and he's been able to listen to all their heartbeats. They were very much alive.
So he and the others weren't gone, obviously. He still didn't know why he's gotten so much older than everyone else, but he was used to it. He almost never get any clear answers to his questions.
The white buck settled down on Jergens' favourite spot, he hadn't forgotten about that one. Little things were slowly coming back and he remembered more every second.
Crybaby pressed himself against his brother's side when latter sat down as well, looking straight ahead for a moment with a stoic expression.
"Where were you.. I couldn't find you." he murmured slowly and finally raised his gaze.
I really shouldn't get so

MunkDunk; Jergens didn't
Jergens didn't want him to be walking like this, especially over such a distance. He could hardly walk in a straight line himself... until he got further and further away from the wall itself. His head began to clear, and he no longer felt the need to vomit his guts out by the time they left the birch forest.
As the illness faded, he kept closer to Crybaby's side, offering support should the buck want to lean against him. Occasionally he'd try to urge the buck to sit down... but to no real avail. Like it or not, Jergens couldn't really force his brother into anything.
At last they came to his tree, still haggard and worn from before. The area around the trunk was still well-trampled, the truck itself coated in scars from Jergens' antlers. Yes, this was home... One of the few places in the forest that the stag could feel comfortable... completely at ease...
They huddled together, Jergens dipping his neck down to meet his brother eye-to-eye.
And then... there was that question.
Of course the stag knew it would be coming, but that didn't mean that he was prepared for it.
This is all your fault
All because he had made one dumb-ass decision and left the goddamn forest without telling anyone. Insensitive... dumb... stupid... Good ol' Jergens...
"I..." he faltered, unable to come up with a satisfactory excuse... and unable to tell Crybaby the truth. "I... messed up..."
He felt like crying.

Crybaby felt exhausted after
He had let Jergens support him, but not all the way long.
Now the buck was silently observing his brother, absorbing everything he hadn't been able to see for so many years, only in blurry memories.
He tilted his head. Messed up? "Why..?"
He couldn't really remember if Jergens ever told him the reason he'd left. Wasn't it...
"Didn't you want to go to this... other forest?" he murmured.
This forest... the forest they've never entered.
"I think I lost track.. I couldn't find it anymore." he said calmly, almost seeming transformed considering the other day.
Jergens seemed to wince at
He couldn't be rejected away. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if that were the case... especially if it was Cry. Jergens honestly felt more shame than he ever had in all of his own two lives.
"Cause' I was a dumbass and I didn't think like I should have..." he answered, thinking that to be more than enough. "I left ya all alone..." That wasn't entirely true, but Jergens had already selfishly piled all the blame, be it non-existent or not, on himself.
The other forest...
A sharp shiver jolted down his spine at the mere mention of it, and his whole being seemed to tense, tight as a taut rope. He hated it. Hated thinking about it... what had happened near the end...
"It was a fucking hellhole." he breathed harshly, holding back a fresh spring of shivers. Crybaby was the only other deer he would confide his fears to so shamelessly. He wouldn't hide anything from him... especially not now. In a way, his brother served as an emotional confidant.
"I was so stupid..."
"I don't blame you." the
But Cry... Cry didn't care as long as Jergens was alright. Not very surprising, was it.
And Jergens had to know one thing... he was never going to be rejected from the buck.
Crybaby didn't say anything for a moment, still calmly watching his brother. Something bad had happened then...
"You can tell me if you want, but you don't have to."
The little buck moved a bit closer and placed one foreleg over Jergens' folded one. "And... you can cry if you need to, alright?" finally a tiny little smile appeared on the white one's features.
Because he had noticed Jergens' emotions, even if he couldn't find out what was causing them.
The buck had indeed changed, a bit. He seemed more collected and calmer.
But he still wished to help others the best he possibly could.
She wandered through the
She saw him, the crimson pelt before her. She walked closer and closer to the other stag, making sure that all signs would indicate that she was indeed the Kahlan that he knew and trusted. The Lighter Kahlan that he called friend. She was not. The trees themselves sometimes seemed to move away from her she radiated such fierce deathlyness normally. Now though, she was keeping that inside to make sure that everything looked normal and rosy. With the withdrawl of that, her hair had lightened a little so that it was closer to brown than black. Her eyes had returned to light emeralds instead of the deep, piercing green that they normally were when Dark Kahlan was in charge. She listened to the bird song, and walked along as cheerily as she knew how. She would make sure that she was totally normal, and then she would be the biggest bitch that she knew how to be and she would make Jergens fall to his knees.
She could hear Light Kahlan inside of her mind, crying out and pleading with her. She was begging her not to do this to her, but Dark Kahlan had only one goal. The domination of her mind, and she would make sure that Light Kahlan was kept as weak as possible so that she could maintain her control. Once she defeated Light Kahlan then she would be the single personality remaining and she could have total control over Kahlan's vast powers of life and death. She would be near enough a God, and she would use that power to be in control of whomever she wished. She was close to him now, so she opened her mouth.
"Jergens?" She asked in surprise, mimicking Kahlan's slightly lighter tone of voice perfectly. She was able to do that easily, as it was after all her own voice. It was merely that Dark Kahlan normally spoke a little lower. "It's been so long." She said approaching her "friend" for a nuzzle to show that she had indeed truly missed him in the time that he had been gone.
Munk; No, Cry could blame
No, Cry could blame him. Jergens had left for no other reason than the sake of leaving. He had a traveler's instinct, after all. He just shook his head, dismissing a reassurance that he saw as justly false.
He wanted to tell him. He wanted to tell the black and white buck everything. But he didn't. If Jergens tried to tell him he'd talk himself into hysterics. Cry didn't need that now. "I wanted to die." he simply muttered, as if that was enough. The sheer amount of guilt that he felt now was almost staggering.
Normally, if the circumstances had been different, Jergens would have scoffed at his brother's suggestion or made some snide comment. Crying was for sissies (or Crybaby), and Jergens wasn't one to stand for having his masculinity put into question.
But now... now when everything and one seemed to be falling apart around him...
"I..." he couldn't hold back the fresh tears that dribbled from his eyes, staining his furred cheeks. No, he couldn't cry now. He had only cried before because he found his brother in such a... ghastly condition...
There was no reason to cry now, was there?
Scrunching up his face, the buck dripped his head and let the tears drip from his eyes. He didn't sniffle, or sob, just cried. His shoulders shook as he slowly lost his composure.
---
Mick;
Jergens had been wandering.
Of course, his mind was pretty much completely occupied ay other things. Seeing the doe saunter up to him like this was just... strange to him. Even so, he returned the offered nuzzle, but it was pretty obvious that there wasn't a whole lot of heart put into it.
He looked her over, searching for every little detail and nook and cranny that he knew to see if anything about her had changed... just like he had done with everyone else. After a while, he finally offered a classic grin in return, and tucked away his ill-feelings for a later time.
"Yeah... it has." he mumbled, pausing to press a light peck against the doe's cheek, his usual greeting for his few female friends. "Anythin' change since I last saw ya?" he asked casually, bringing out a hoof to lightly tap next to his person, offering her a seat. "Things have been kinda wild lately... How's that brother of yer's.... uhh... Kylar? Yeah, that's it." he fumbled. Clearly his mind was on other matters right now.
((Short compared to yours sorryyy ;; ))
Thu-thump.. Jergens' few
Jergens' few words sent a bolt through his weakened heart and made him suck in a shaky breath.
He gulped, not having expected to hear this.
What was the reason for someone like Jergens to... to go..? But then he remembered everything that had happened, excluding himself.
His heart suddenly felt heavier but he tried to push this odd feeling away.
The little buck looked up, seeing his big brother's tears. It probably was the first time he really saw him crying, except for the other day but he'd hardly been conscious.
"It's alright." he whispered, rubbing his nose and cheek against the stag's furry neck. "We're together again... and that's a good thing, right?" he murmured, lowering his eyelids some.
"No... it's not." Jergens
He kept his composure, but even that was starting to break. Humiliated, he swiveled his neck around and buried his face in Cry's fur, saturating it with salty tears. "I did something terrible..." he whispered, another shiver running down his spine.
Together.
Jergens choked back a sob that welled up in the back of his throat, pressing himself against his brother. "This is all my fault..." he finally admitted, his voice reduced to nothing more than a series of pathetic blubbers.
"I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry..."
"Shh.." Crybaby gently rubbed
It almost seemed like their roles were switched now, that he was the big brother and Jergens the little one... but that wasn't the case, even if the smaller one was much, much older than the crimson stag.
"You can tell me about it if you need to.. I'm here." he always was, in one way or another.
"Little brother and big brother.." he hummed, closing his eyes but kept rubbing his face against the other's neck.
How long had it been since he
And now here he was... breaking out into full-fledged sobs. Absolutely humiliating. But if Jergens was going to cry, it'd be in front of his brother... and no one else.
"I couldn't stop it... He said he'd kill her if I stopped it but fucking God I couldn't let him do it and I... I..." he gasped, his voice muffled by his brother's silky fur. "And now yer all screwed up with me and I shouldn't have left but I'm such a goddamn idiot..." he went on and on with his cryptic ramblings, never once stopping to explain them. He couldn't, wouldn't.
He shook his head, mumbled something incomprehensible and pressed himself as tightly as he could around Cry.
"So many are already gone..." he hiccuped, squinting his eyes tightly. "I don't... I can't lose yew Cry... yer all I have left..."
Crybaby silently listened to
Maybe Jergens was going to explain him everything later on, maybe not. It didn't really matter.
He blinked, staring at an invisible spot somewhere ahead of them. Gone.. so many of them. But then again they weren't.
"Yes, but you're not going to lose me Jergens." he tried to bend his neck to look at his brother's face, still looking calm.
"I'm always with you.. and remember that the others are always with you too." he gave him a smile and placed a soft kiss on the wet cheek of the crimson stag before he pressed his own half black-half white one against it.
Jergens didn't say anything,
Sighing, he brought his face up as he felt Cry's lips rest against his face. So tired... he was so tired... Sleep was rare these days, very rare. The nightmares had gotten steadily worse as well, reaching to a point where the stag sometimes woke up yelling or even screaming.
Tired... so tired...
But he couldn't sleep.
"They say that but they never stay..." he weakly protested, pressing his cheek against Cry's, his voice soft, barely audible. "Or bad things happen to them..." he slurred.
Jergens let his eyes trail to the blackened face pressed up against him and shivered.
"I'm so fucking scared..."
Crybaby waited patiently
He tried to help him but didn't know how, other than trying to comfort him.
"You know.. I could still hear my mother sometimes. I know that she's still watching over me." he murmured slowly.
It obviously was the first time he mentioned his parents, not even really knowing how his mother was like. He only knew her voice.
Of course people left and it was as hurtful to Cry as to his brother... but they were never really leaving you, not fully.
But the smaller buck didn't want Jergens to leave either, even more now after thinking that he's been gone for good. It was a selfish thought..
"Everyone's scared.. big brother." he closed his eyes and slid his face down the stag's neck to snuggle it into the fur once again.
"It's going to be alright.." he whispered.
Mother? No... he wouldn't
He shook his head, almost frustratingly. "M'not worried bout myself... I don't care what happens to me." he muttered, eyes locked on the black fur... the grey discoloration on the buck's white chest.
"M'scared fer yew."
And God did he mean it. He'd never been more scared for anyone in his entire life. It felt like Ren biting Rose all over again... just as painful and worrisome if not more so.
And the worst part was that Jergens could do nothing but sit around and wait for something to happen.
"No... it won't..."
From the way that he had
She maintained a pleasant smile so that any suspicsions that he had would be offset by the fact that her face looked as Light Kahlan's always did. A pretty face, but a very plain prettiness, with a small smile that showed that she was not unhappy. That was all that Kahlan projected generally, even though Dark Kahlan knew that smile to be itself a lie. Kahlan was not happy, she hadn't been in a while. She felt too isolated, too alone, but she was too shy to ever really do anything about that. Dark Kahlan on the other hand was not shy about anything. She talked, laughed, flirted and tortured, maimed and killed with ease, regardless of the situation. She could move through people as easily as a knife through butter, or draw them to her like satellites to her gravitational pull, but for the moment, that was all hidden underneath her facade of being Light Kahlan whilst she waited for an oppurtunity to hurt Kahlan by being mean to Jergens.
She thought for a moment. Neither she nor Light Kahlan had seen Kylar recently. That was one of the reasons that she had felt so isolated, Kylar had left her much of the time to be with his boyfriend. Light Kahlan had understood that and that was the reason that she had never said anything to Kylar. She felt that she was being selfish if she asked him to stay around her when his boyfriend needed him to, probably more than she did. Dark Kahlan pondered that that lonliness might have been the reason that she had been able to break through.
"Nothing really..." She murmered as an answer as Light Kahlan would have, making sure that she appeared not emotionally hurt. She wanted to make sure that no one made a fuss about her even when sometimes she wished that they would. She wouldn't be selfish that way.
"Um...I don't see Kylar that much. Toukan takes up most of his time I guess..." She finished. Then she had a wonder, neither she nor Light Kahlan knew the reason that Jergens had disappeared from the forest for so long. The conversation that she had had with his alternate personality 'Friend' had not revealed the answer to her. It had merely told her that Friend had been far away from the forest and that he had managed to somehow project himself into her mind, for reasons unknown to anyone but himself. She hadn't thought to ask. "May I ask...where were you? When you weren't here?" She asked, making sure that her tone was kept to a high level of politeness, because that was what Light Kahlan did. Internally she wished that she didn't have to keep up this facade. Light Kahlan was probably the least interesting person that she had ever known.
Jergens' body was tense, brow
But why would he have to? It was Kahl for God's sake! What was there not to trust? She was probably the closest female friend he even had. Not to mention how many times she had saved his ass... Even so, he remained cautious, eyes focused.
"I'll go tell Touk to send the bastard to ya." he nodded, almost as if he was agreeing with himself. "Ain't right to ignore yer family members just cause ya found some guy to fool around with." he added, glancing around to find the landscape dotted with deer... so they weren't alone.
Jergens' smile faded at Kahlan's last question, but only for a brief moment before perking back up. "Outside." he answered simply, pointing with his nose in the direction of the birch forest, towards the wall. "Nothin' big. Just a stupid field trip." he reassured her, intending to drop the subject as quickly as he possibly could.
M'not worried bout myself...
... the exact same words would have come out of Cry's mouth. But neither did the buck want anything happening to Jergens, not anymore.. it was enough.
He didn't say anything though, knowing that the stag was staring at his black fur. He hadn't seen himself for ages, except in the pond the day before. His reflection had showed that it was slowly spreading across his body. Every day a little more.
Because of something inside him..
The buck just looked away for a while before he gave his brother a weak, maybe somewhat.. knowing smile?
He snuggled his face deep into the curly fur, his black and white ear flicking some. He wished Jergens wouldn't worry that much about him. But the buck was as worried about his brother.
At least they were back together again...
A field trip, interesting,
She laughed a little when he said that he would get “Touk” to send Kylar to her. It was uncharacteristic of Light Kahlan, who would have given a mere smile to show that she had heard that part, and probably dismissed this altogether, telling him that it was fine and that she was okay on her own. That was a lie of course, Dark Kahlan knew her well enough to know that every time that she said that she was fine that she had been lying. Light Kahlan was one of the loneliest people that she knew. She had seen her fall to tears at the mere thought of being alone for much longer. Dark Kahlan was not like that, if she felt alone, she sought company. She didn’t restrict herself to that white dress that perpetually made her look like a bride. When she was in charge, Kahlan became a visually stunning predator.
“I’m sure that Kylar would be annoyed if Touk sent him to me,” She answered Jergens with a further chuckle. “He does tend to get rather irate if someone interrupts his ‘playtime’.” She had forgotten that time to speak as Light Kahlan did, so her voice had come out a little lower, a little more seductive. Dark Kahlan’s natural voice was a permanent flirt, a perpetual invitation that was merely hinted at and never expressed. She made sure that she was always the one that people looked at in admiration and adoration. That was how she found her victims before she brought them back to her home to face their deaths. Then she dumped the skeletons around leaving human police or other investigators completely baffled as to the cause of death, or even when they died.
“Where was your field trip to?” Kahlan asked making sure that she was polite and slightly higher pitched that time so that her voice lacked that subtle succubus-like charm. “Human realm?” She turned her head to look at the trees at this point, as if looking for the unseen door that Jergens had went through when he had left the forest. For the moment, she saw very little. It was quiet in the forest today, although that might have been because the deer kept gathering around a massive zombified deer that was known as either the BZD or Velocity. She assumed that Velocity was its actual name since the BZD name stood for Big Zombie Deer, and other than the deer there were few animals. The small ones seemed to avoid her regardless of what she did.
