How does it feel...

...to be rejected because of who you love?

Warning: Some mature themes/mentions of suicide
Once upon a time, in a green, verdant land thriving with all kinds of life, there was a small child. This child lived with his mother and father in a little village, kept alive only by its proximity to the mountain pass, and other villages beyond. 'Twas a small hamlet, with but one school and several hundred enrolled.

Now, this child was a little strange. He clung wide-eyed to his mother's skirt whenever strangers stopped to visit, and hid behind his father's legs when the school bus first came rumbling around the bend. Yet, despite his initial wariness, he cared for those he came to know, and divided his time between running through the forest with them. However, his parents, in particular, he adored; and it was a rare weekend where he could not be found dragging his mother and father up the mountain slopes, like some wild forest sprite darting hither and thither.

The child grew into a young man, the pride of his parents and teachers; soft-spoken, polite in manner and bearing, obedient, and active in town affairs. He gave himself away freely to those who needed him; Helping classmates study, sitting at lunch tables with those who were alone, hugging those who were despairing of their place in life. To him, sad faces were unbearable. Turning away from one, guilt would plague him incessantly until he returned to help. Everyone thought they knew him better than he did himself, so open and willing was he. He had a best friend, that was his partner in nearly all of his good deeds- a boy two years older than him. Previously, this boy had been the lowest worm in village society, but the white-haired boy who saw his plight kept talking with him and approaching him, getting to know him despite many initial rejections. Thus, their friendship grew and prospered until the first boy left to go to a nearby college in the west.

On the eve on his nineteenth birthday, he received acceptance into a prestigious college on the country's east coast. Something in the boy began to change- he missed school, took long walks away from the town, as if he were torn by indecision. Finally, one week before a reply was needed, he brought his old friend home from college and introduced him as his boyfriend. The backlash was immediate. Poisonous words traveled around the little hamlet like wildfire on dry tinder, spread around by none other than the boy's father. His mother sat in her bedroom silently, staring through her grown child as if he was lost to her.

At last, despairing, the young man went up to the mountain that he used to bring all the people he held dear to and stood on the tallest crag. It was a warm summer night, and he sat for a long while in admiration of the stars. Finally, he arose, preparing himself to join them, when one of the stars themselves traveled down to speak with him.

"Jump into my arms, my child... I'll take you home."

The young man felt his legs weaken at the knees. Indescribable longing coursed through him for that soft, warm light. He took a shaky step forward and closed his eyes as he took another, shielding his face from the brilliant light that enveloped him...

First image of the Forest that memory can recall.

And there we have it- A little history for Myszka. Just trying to explain some of his actions and the like. It was also personal for me to write and draw about this- I haven't come out to my dad yet, as he is highly against anyone who can like the same sex and would be disgusted with me. I can't afford that. Hell, I bet I'll probably get a little hate for it too on here- but it's nice seeing how many people on TEF aren't.

Very lovely read, strong

Very lovely read, strong story! Very sad how things turned though. But I love your drawings to accompany this too. You put a lot of work in it, I think the fact that it is personal to you makes it stronger too.
I very strongly doubt you'd get any hate here! There are so many types of people on this website!

@Misako: Thanks, I was only

@Misako: Thanks, I was only confident enough to post after being able to notice just how many different people were on TEF Smiling

@Dampir: I think it's a happy enough ending- he's in the Forest after all, who wouldn't be happy there?
This land is made of love and peace!

I love how you drew out some scenes, I also love how you but the first image of TEF at the end....I'm trying my best to not go on, and on about what I love about this story.
Also I doubt anyone here will judge you on liking the same sex, It's sad some people do though but all I know is that in the end everything will work out.
/stops rambling
