Herru, fellow deer! I am Cybril. I played TEF a few years ago when I was like, 9, and I kinda liked it but it made absolutely no sense at all! c: But now I'm older and I understand it a little better. Anyway, I'm gonna dedicate to this game and try to understand what it's all about. I just joined yesterday, April 28, and I've played the game a few times. I'm waiting for it to be May 28 so I can become an adult. Anyway, I have a few questions I would like some answers to.
1. How exactly do the spells work? And what happens when I eat from a patch of purple flowers? I see new icons on the bottom - antlers and a deer head I think. I've walked over to a fawn and clicked on the new icons, but nothing happens.
2. During the month while I wait to become an adult, does my deer get bigger gradually, or do I just log into the game one day and I'm all of a sudden an adult?
3. What exactly happens when you press C? My fawn looks at me, but is that all it does?
4. The shapeshifting. I know you can shift into a bunny, crow, bat, squirrel, and a dove but what happens when you shift? The birds and bats, can they actually fly? And the squirrels, can they climb trees? What happens when you change?
Those are my questions! I'd greatly appreciate it if you answer them as detailed as you can! ^-^ Also, I might share a little about myself so you know what to expect when you come across me in the forest. My deer is represented with a weird pictogram (I'll leave a picture of it), so look for that when you're in the forest. I am a female, joined TEF yesterday, Taurus, personality: Cautious, she tends to avoid any deer larger than she is. It takes her quite awhile to trust one. When she gets a bad feeling, she'll take off running without hesitation. Loving when she gets comfortable. Anyway, learn even more about me and my deer at:

Onto your questions!
1. Whenever your deer gains a spell, they can only cast it onto other deer. If you want spells cast onto your deer, somebody else needs to give them to you.
If you rub on certain trees, a pinecone will drop. Eating them gives your deer an antler spell.
If you lay next to a sleeping deer, after a short while you'll get a pelt spell to change fur color.
If your deer finds mushrooms on a tree, eating them gives them a mask spell.
Your deer's default antlers can pick up purple flowers, red flowers, and, if you're lucky, even candles. The flowers appear year-round, but during certain events there will sometimes be orange candles!
When your deer has these decorations in their antlers, they can cast them onto another deer, but your deer will lose them. You're basically gifting the antler decorations c:
2. Aw man, I wish your deer would get progressively larger! Your in-game avatar will go from being a fawn to an adult deer.
3. That's all it does ;^P
4. The bat and dove can fly, but they can't really go higher than an established point. You can't adjust their altitude, either. The squirrels can't climb trees. When you get an animal spell, you change into that animal! As a full-grown deer, you can have the animal spell as long as you like. Fawns will lose any and all spells cast on them after a certain amount of time--though they keep anything like flowers or candles that they have!

Excellent questions! So, sleeping in a mushroom circle gives you an animal spell, right? Sometimes that spell will make your deer smaller, almost as small as a fawn. That's why you'll see some smaller than most deer. Fawns can even get this mini-deer spell and it makes them even tinier!! It's almost too cute to see in-game.
Hmm I think fawns can actually use the "save set" option.. Anyways, that will save whatever spells you currently have on so that if anything happens, like if your deer gets spammed with spells as they were asleep, you can just reload your saved set and have it back.
You found Drinkplaats! Drinking from that water will give your deer an animal spell, but they only keep it while they're in that area. If you continue drinking, random stuff will happen. Like there will be rainbows, a gold fish might swim by in the air, you might hear and see lightning.. it's pretty cool.

If you go TEF's menu by pressing Escape, it'll bring up options. Click on Display and then "Run in a window". You'll have to restart TEF, but it'll be windowed the next time you bring it up ;>
