Heads up...[Laptop problems again]

Alecsander's picture
laptop problems persist.
After dealing with a blue screen of death in the middle of typing a story, a 15 minute wait for firefox to launch, and multiple errors it has reached the unanimous conclusion to completely wipe the hard drive.

Backing up data started yesterday and will continue until this weekend when the whole system is nuked.

Mostly a notice for the friends/acquaintances I actively chat with on MSN.
And to anyone reading my/kita/fran's story progression.
I won't be halting or postponing, but it may be a bit slow depending on when I can sit down to type out the next entry. I'll have to directly post to site using a different format and screen size than I am use to so the text may appear odd (too large, too small, wrong colour etc.).

If you need to get a hold of me feel free to send me an e-mail:

(Also my MSN).

I won't jinx myself by setting a date for when it will be back up and running.

That has got to be

That has got to be frustrating =/
My dad knows of a very cheap (about two dollars a month) and yet extremely reliable program that backups your files on a schedule. I can recommend it once he's off work if you'd like.

I hope things work out for you!

Interestingly enough, I had similar issues with mine when I first got it.

I got blue screened multiple times, and the computer kept constantly freezing up on me.

Although, it hasn't done it in about half a year, so I'm not sure what the issue was with it.

Either way, it sucks to hear your laptop's being like this...hope everything goes well for you~

Fish- Yeah i'm more of an external hard drive person. I'm investing in one later this month to help curb the hassle of doing this in the future.

We've pretty much come to the conclusion it's not a virus and is malfunction in the operating system where it over wrote important system files on accident and completely messed up everything to the point where it can't boot up.

Aw, good luck with that!

Aw, good luck with that! Laptop horrors are no fun. Sad

Ookami, I'm just curious, was your new laptop an hp?

No, it's a Lenovo Think

No, it's a Lenovo Think Pad...with Windows Vista on it >_>

I think it was just mainly because it was Vista, and not XP.

Oh ok, it just sounded like a problem that I had with an hp laptop that was apparently pretty common. :/ Apparently windows and hp aren't getting along too well.

Mmm...now that you bring it up, I have heard about similar issues before...Windows nowadays is just so damn uncooperative...

so we backed up everything but now the laptop refuses to boot from the CD despite the fact that the CD is the highest priority. It's like the computer has no idea that the cd drive exists and that there is a CD in there until it fully boots up.

-sigh-
I don't think my poor little laptop is going to survive.

It booted up.
We did a full system restore.
It started to load on one of its old games for a fresh start and immediately crashed again.
It will not load.

We're assuming we have a bum harddrive on our hands and are beginning the hunt for a fix tomorrow.

The whole situation has left me feeling physically ill.
I'm stressed over finishing a few stories and feeling pretty isolated.
Definitely not in a happy place by any means.
