First time in the woods

Chickenwhite's picture
--Hey guys!--

So I entered the forest yesterday and I'm already hooked.
Coming up with a story for my deer Redd, anyone wanna help, feel free!~
He's a terribly shy deer who will back up and cower at the first sight of other deer. He's afraid of thunder and loud noises in general, but he loves it when people cast spells on him.
He didn't have a mother and he's constantly searching for a father-figure, though staying away from groups as he always feels he's intruding on them.
When he's alone he likes to gather spells and run around, jumping over rocks and small bodies of water.
Will upload picture of him when I've got time~

Now with picture of pictogram! : http://tale-of-tales.com/TheEndlessForest/register/pictogram.php?username=Chickenwhite See ya in the forest!

Kind of fun to see

Kind of fun to see Chickenwhite's early blog Smiling

A Mary Sue is a character with no flaws. They are perfect; beautiful, powerful fighters, often have a tragic past, and have improbable skills which they use to fix all of their problems effortlessly. The author often expects other characters to worship them and denies any negative qualities they may display (selfishness, ignorance, cruelty) or plays off these traits as wildly attractive.

This is commonly considered boring character creation, because there is no room for the character to grow or overcome their weaknesses. As a reader it can be hard to associate with them because they don't need any help, they will always succeed, and their behavior is sometimes very bad, but they don't suffer the consequences.

There are some exceptions but generally, perfect characters or completely 'evil' characters are less interesting than ones with some good, some bad, and some ambiguous traits.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.

Wow, this thing is so

Wow, this thing is so friggin' old XD
You really went through my stuff and found it? XD

Oh, and also, Mary Sues are generally just the author writing themselves into this perfect being, projecting so hard, they could be put up against the wall to show powerpoints.

There is actually a lot of debate over the definition of a Mary Sue depending on the type of writing.

I tend to leave 'stand in for the author' out, simply because I have read many well written characters serving as the author's stand-in. I do not think projecting oneself into a world is a poor choice so long as one views the character objectively and gives them obstacles and consequences.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.

True, the fact of the matter

True, the fact of the matter just is, most Mary Sues tend to be such standins, though in a way which definitely negatively affects the story as a whole.
